Project GT-C. Let's talk about circular JLF restrictors

Hey Toodles, I got a few of the GT-C’s and I think they feel great! Thanks for a quality product. I’m trying to get a couple friends to pick these up too!

Hey, at least the problem was caught pretty early. Thanks for the great support!

Yeah nothing to be ashamed about man thanks a lot for the tip.

I just ordered two from Lizard Lick. I can’t wait to try them out!

thank you toodles, for not only giving us awesome fighting game products, but also for making my education relevant.

Well I gotta say Toodles when you’re right you’re right, both are cracked in nearly identical spots.
Like every one else said, don’t beat yourself up over this, with the new install vid this hiccup will be a thing of the past.

Toodles, I ordered a GT-C from LL, and it works great, especially with the bat. The only thing I noticed was the long throw this had. Would there be any chance you’ll be making one with shorter throw?

Nope, and if diagonal directions are important to your game, you don’t want one. Read through this thread, there’s a lot of talk of how the size was arrived at and why it wasn’t made smaller…

What you need to do is add a bit more tension with either an LS-32 or 33 spring or get the Home Depot springs and try out which ones you like until you have the right amount of tension.

That won’t change the throw, at all. That will change the tension, but the joystick will still activate at the same distance.

So, will wrapping electric tape to the actuator shorten the throw?

Also, with the heavier bat, I do feel the spring tension isn’t enough. Should I get LS-32 or 33 springs?

Yes, that will change the activation distance.

Yeah you’re right. But that was my main gripe when I first used it. I have some tape on mine as well. I think the extra spring and tape work very well together.

I just got mine in today. So far I’m really liking it. It felt weird at first but I’m getting used to it. Great job, Toodles!

Mine just came in a day or two ago. I’m still toying around with it, it feels pretty weird right now. I just need to adjust to it a bit. It was easy to install and works about how I expected it to. when my friends finally take the jump from a pad to a stick, I will use your parts to make it. My real plan was to combine it with your Spark when it comes out to make a joystick with no switches or corners.

How is the Spark coming? Last I checked on the Spark thread you were having some trouble?

No trouble, just testing different colored housings to find the color that has the most ‘pop’ but still do its job.

I hope you find it soon. XD

Hey Toodles,

I had an idea before about a cool idea for a restrictor gate. I drew it up in my cadd. I lost it now. Maybe if I try looking for it. Anyway, it was halfway between an octagon and the traditional 8-way.

My thinking was to only slightly shorten the distance to the four diagonals to keep the diagonal activation percentage high but also create a shallow corner for each of the cardinal directions, (Left, Right, Up, Down). The shallow corners will give you a better idea of “where” your joystick is while playing. Sometimes you may want to just move back and forth but may accidentally jump or duck because their was no feeling of a notch to know where you are.

Tell me what you think.

Anyone else have an opinion on this idea?

I’ll look for my original drawing in the meantime.

Thanks.

Need to draw it out to visualize it better.

Am I right in thinking it’s somewhat of a rounded diamond?
