whats up to all you Hugo fans this thread is purelly dedicated for Hugo to bash the living daylight out of Alex. As we all know it is a hard match up for Hugo because Alex is faster and move in and out quickly and also he has some power and move advantages over him also, Alex’s Air game is probably stronger and also his anti air is hard for Hugo to get in, I know people will say that your not playing your cards right and maybe your right but Alex for me is one of the hardest match ups for Hugo, i’m not a crap Hugo player but i would class Alex as hard to fight against as in the same bracket as Yun and maybe Chun Li mainly because Alex can do damage and back off and come in again.
All you Hugo players that have problems against Alex or even if you don’t please say a few words so that we can put that imposter of a wrestler behind bars.
yea alex is one of hugo’s challengers… u’ll have to take advantage of alex when u does rushes u… u have to play some old school gief on him like when he’s on top of u attacking the moment u see a gap in his chain of hits 360 the bastard… use hugo’s jumping mp it has crazy air priority stops nearly every airmove in the game and has as much reach as the jumping fp… the hit box is outside his fingertips its sick… just jump up and backwards with mp it will catch alex trying to jump… if he parries u can parry back both of u land u 360 or gigas him muhahahah… when he backs off use claps and s.lk’s… s.lk stops his elbows even the ex version… walk towards him and do lk’s until u corner him then the match is yoursssss
Dont think that hugos no hard for alex ya know.It takes a lot of planning and out guessing to put hugo down.Being an Alex player heres somethings that can help you guys out.
Hugos standing Medium Is a very usefull tool.It stops all jump attempts before they start.Beats out alex’s sweep from full range. :xeye:(Ive been hit from the starting position trying to sweep with a standing medium at the start of the round.)
Hugos anti air grabs beats alex’s hands down.You can parry his.it even beats his in the air all the way up until you start to land.Meaning If i being alex tries to anti knee you before you fall I get grabed Just for trying.
Things Hugo can do against alex…
Alex’s Down fierce shoulder can be grabed by either 360,720 or air grab :tdown:
Hugo can grab alex out of his own tick throws.Meaning alex gets the tick hugo gets the grab. :lame:
Hugos jumping splash stops most AA atempts flat out.
To beat alex you have to be on the offensive.You have to be good at mixing up your attacks.
I have to say that Alex usually falls before my Hugo, simply i’ve never met a good one.
Alex players usually eat my slaps (standing mp) just throw them out randomly, it slaps him out of the air and stops pretty much all of his forward advances, including his rushing elbow thingy.
Jumping straight up with mk stops Alex’s cross over stomp… at any point.
Jumping mp beats most of Alex’s air attacks.
Oh and you can SPD him before he hits the ground (little bug i found) Its like during the crossover, when you would normally be hit, SPD and practically grab him out the air.
Sifu V, do you only play online or have you played peeps at troc as well? Was wondering how your Hugo fairs against the peeps there? Don’t mean to be rude but dude, learn some humility, it’s not like your Hugo is that great (most of your game consists of twd+MP).
I dont have the time to play in arcades anymore, so i mostly play online. I do occasionally have offline matches with people who do pass through the Troc though, and my Hugo stands his own.
I mentioned fwd because it gives MP extra range - does it not?!. Besides, I’m only criticizing the fact that he’s always beign so cocky for someone who’s game constist of mostly MP.
I can be cocky if i want to be cocky. If you ultimately have a problem with that you can go do something nasty to yourself with the thick end of a snooker cue.
In any case, i dont have to justify myself to you coz i dont even know you which makes you a non-person in my eyes. And because of this, unless i deem them to be constructive, your opinions don’t matter.
when i play vs alex i usually bait him into attacking by faking aggresiveness, for me the loss of not being able to use hugos long pokes anymore totally changes my game, so staying just out of alex’s mk range is important, it invites alex to attack but you can react on his faults or parry. i use a lot of 360 vs alex, after parries, jump-ins. by keeping close alex is afraid of being cornered and will attack often, just keep him far away enough for him not to be able to pressure hugo, because, for me anyway, that’s hugos downfall, his speed up close cannot match alex’s. jabbing, parrying, 360’s. alex’s 2[8]k wakeup breaks up my simple wakeup-mindgame, so keeping close enough to pressure without really attacking is important. i choose sa3 over sa1 vs alex, dunno exactly why but i get more results from sa3.
my thoughts vs a friends alex, dunno if it’s usefull because i don’t know how “good” his alex is (haven’t payed that much attention to other alex players) but it may help someone somewhere out vs alex :party:
hey Thanks guys I appriciate all ur responses, i’m still relatively new to using Hugo so I haven’t got much experience against most characters.
What’s the beef with you Sifu V and Ssongro? Sifu V there is a couple off good Alex players on live (LEVA and Singho) that i can think of at the moment oh yeah plus BillyKane’s Alex is very good too, I have trouble with them. The thing is i dont like abusing mp too much cos i don’t want to get in the habbit, it gets predictable and is very easy to counter attack once the opponent anticipates it (especially offline). SF3s feels different offline and its the reason why a few of the good players have stopped playing it, cos of delay issues. And because of that it makes harder to deal with moves such as Hugo’s mp and thats the reason i don’t want to rely on it, but deffinetly the mk and mp in the air would help more against alex.
Also NGKrush has a good point about keeping the distance outside of Alex’s mk range and keeping the pressure on, ill work on that and watch out for the 2[8]k move.
Btw Sifu V i’m looking forward to cracking your skull next time we meet I did’nt like what your Hugo did to me last time you better watch out i’m getting poison to come after you.

I dont have any beef with Ssongro. He just needs to learn to not make any personal offending critisisms when the common goal on the thread is the betterment of Hugo.
When i play against Singho we usually go full roster so Alex v Hugo dont come up too often. Never played Leva’s Alex and i’ve never played BillyKane.
