Pressure Tactics - The way he works best

Is there a difference between running and letting guy stop automatically once he’s next to a person and running and actually inputting the sudden stop command? cuz i find it hard to stop right next to them for U2 to be in range, but if you let guy stop by himself once he’s next to person then you kno U2 will be in range for sure.

Recovery is much much much worse if you don’t input the stop command and just let him stop.

imo, two of guy’s great abilities against turtlers: fw. mp and cancelling the fw. mp into something like ex tatsu. guy’s inability to penetrate the defence of great turtlers really hurts him, so the little damage gotten from fw. mp is very important when fighting one, because it’s a good chunk of the non-punish damage he’s going to get. the move itself is not particularly fast however, and a character like honda or rog will see the move coming out and punish on reaction fairly easily, which is why doing something like kara ex tatsu becomes very important to bait the reversal and catch them. it’s been working pretty well for me, anyone else having success with the kara stuff off fw. mp?

right there is what i think most guy players are having trouble with. the inability to open up the enemy effectively. the overhead is nice and the kara is pretty good as well, but in all honesty the enemy simply just has to take the overhead and not worry too much about the next attack. if the frame data is accurate and the overhead is -2 on hit then that also doesnt help. argh…

i think in the end guy players for now will have no choice but to rely on fwd. mp more often than not. all the kara options are annoying to say the least. and to answer the question on success with it, yeah its working out for me as well. i tend to use kara run stop alot

Except you’re not always going to have meter to kara ex hurricane. Then all they have to do is mash jab to get out of that situation. Unfortunately most people instinctively do this when put in a pressure situation anyway .

Well, one positive thing I can say is that I ALWAYS have meter for that ex beyblade if I need it. Guy has little use for ex meter. Occasional ex bushin flip setups and ex hozanto punishes are good, but should not outweigh you meter gain from solid pressure.

I often end a match will super just for fun cause I can’t use up the meter

Guy’s use of meter especially full meter if you arent going to use Super can open up Dizzy setups.

Yeah, I was gonna say. I use tons of meter with Guy. Ex hurricane, ex hozanto as a quick punish or ex run on the rare occasions.

Guy can easily do over 400 damage from average setups by using 2 bars.

Fuck holding onto meter for the super, you’re better off using it whenever you get a chance. Especially if it can get your opponent to the corner.

Agreed.

I only really save my super if I’m against someone who uses a lot of fireballs that I can punish with shoulder because then if the shoulder hits I get a free super and loads of damage.

Fuck guy super, use ex move. They’re just nescafe !

Ex Hozanto can punish a lot of thing.
Ex BSK is a " come and I can shit on your face ".
Ex instant Izuna well I think you all know what’s the deal here ^^ That move is just an instant rape.
Ex run can be tricky, but the more tricky you get, the better you’ll be. I find ex run being very usefull in some case.
