Preppopolis: Feb 8th: Kit Kat Palooza

funny, I was asking Nolan about learning marvel at the last lookout barfight. he just kinda smiled and said something like “dude, you totally missed the bus”.

It’s never too late, just be prepared to never win a match in Seattle. While most of the old school wont teach you while playing, Jason for example will spout knowledge while he’s watching you play others if he knows you’re learning.

I’m old school. I teach. I was never really that good, though.

Yeah, plenty of people will tell you shit… just gotta ask

Yeah it’s kinda sad when you’ve “played” a game for years and years, and yet you’re still miserable-tier. Even so, Marvel has the most satisfying training room in the world. Every time I combo into multiple supers, it’s like Capcom reaches an invisible hand into my brain and massages my opioid receptors.

Hahah yeah. I’ve always been mediocre in Mahvel. But after playing the game for the 10 years it’s been out, it’s kinda hard to just stray away from it or “unlearn” everything.

What they said. Ask lots of questions after the match between rounds.

Yeah, honestly most of what I’ve learned has been from me going “ewwwww that works!?” and whoever I’m playing, after the match is over, will be like “yeah you just do this and that and get out of it by doing this, but you need to watch out for that or else this doesnt work and youll get broken”

Granted, most of what I learned has come from Dann, and he is not easy to get info out of most of the time. Keith is an excellent teacher too.

I will also offer up what little I know of the game and its mechanics to the public so they can play the marvelz without getting perfected.

This may be old…but I just felt like it was appropriate…asking questions is very important:

Do you need/have room for any more setups Preppy? I can bring a 360 + monitor which will have HDR, MvC2 and SF4 (though I think you MvC guys frown on the 360 port) - though I’d probably just have it running SF4 most of the night…

I also won’t be there until a bit after midnight but the Windows 7 party never stops right?

…!!

Aint no party
Like a Windows 7 party
Cause a dub 7 party don’t stop!

That’s my 1 gross post of the day.

Sounds wise. There’s the room downstairs which doesn’t have a TV.

Ahahahahaha. Point taken.

Will be baking my cupcakes tonight. BAKING WARS, ROUND 1! Zach will you taste each of our entries (3 of us baking I believe ) and judge them with a score out of 10?

Also, when people are teaching you stuff about a fighting game try to avoid using the phrase “I know” too often.

Oh shit, I’ll have to make my cookies before I go to work tomorrow.

KFC?

By the way, I didn’t mean to sound like I meant the marvel community is as bad as the blazblue/kof/whatever else community that just rapes you and never gives you tips even when you ask. Upon rereading that I realize it completely came out wrong. It’s hard to sandbag in marvel anyway.

I’ll find a way. Biggest thing with Marvel is I just never took the time to learn the combo strings.

Then you gotta learn to block. But in marvel blocking is like being psychic.

I can’t marvel block. That requires dedication and reflexes I haven’t built yet.
I want to cupcake judge too >>

Rookie Marvel tournaments? Might be the best way for them to learn (those that are interested anyways).
