Haha nice win at round 3 against rufus. After the focus you should’ve just went ex shunpukyaku to ultra to safely win the match.
you know i was thinking that it would not have been enough cause of the damage reduction. i was thinking to use it at chip on wake up but i didnt get to that : (
The one piece of advice I can offer you is to not always go for focus after a stun. J.Hk/HP (i forget which one is more powerful) into a Sakura BNB is much more potent.
For some reason, I see a lot of Sakuras doing a FA after stun. Very bad in damage reduction since the FA counts as 2 hits, and reduces the damage you get from it.
j.HK does more damage I believe, and after a j.HK, I basically go for BnB.
Often you see this from people who didn’t start out maining Sakura. I still do it on occasion just from the muscle memory (I didn’t play vanilla much, but for the brief time I did, I played Seth).
@ J Dash : That’s understandable since FA’ing after stun does considerable amount of damage for characters like Ryu, and I used to do it with Sakura too when I started playing more with Sakura.
But, I taught myself to learn to deal more damage during a stun for Sakura. FA’ing during a stun fine for players who are used to it, and it’s your own play-style, I’m not really going to complain if you FA during stun, it’s a mearly a suggestion.
Though, in my honest opinion, doing more damage during a stun is better for Sakura since a lot of the cast has a bigger health advantage over Sakura, and more damage is better.
^ yea i didnt kno this. thx guys!
Here are two vids of me vsing a T.Hawk player. Anyone mind giving me tips on what I should’ve been doing?
- Match 1
- Match 2
First round I can see why i lost, which is why i was able to win the second round, but only barely, I’m pretty certain i would’ve lost both matches easily if it was a pro T.Hawk player.
well there a 2 nice FA reset posibilitys after Dizzy:
First one obviously s.lp Reset Plus dash under.
most people don’t get it on the first try. thus eating FA DMG + DMG Scaling reset + Eating another full BnB
the other possiblity a crossover reset (got that from amigdala, works fine too):

this is even more rarely used so good too confuse the opponent.
normal combo off FA usually leads to less dmg then without FA there for it is not a good option.
Those resets of course are done when they fall dizzy after a longer combo, and dmg from a normal combo would be a waste of a free opportunity.
If they are dizzy just from a short combo going into a reset guessgame is not favorable if they would die off that one combo, just keep the dmg scaling count in mind.
After all the hype I’m a little bit let down.
What makes this high level stuff? Is it your weird/useless use of FADC/Roman canceling stuff that didn’t need to be cancelled? You FADC a hado at full screen. What for?
When you do the otoshi on someone in the corner you do all 3 hits putting yourself in the corner.
You like to do alot of turtling and late air shunpu to build meter. Is that what makes it high level?
The Ibuki in the first vid wasn’t much. She did Super when you was knocked down o_O
However I did like the vs Abel and Ryu matches. Those guys were tough.
It’s safer and the damage difference isn’t that much (FA3 does more damage than j.HK but the scaling makes the following hits weaker in the end). If they somehow manage to mash out of the stun in time you’ll get the j.HK blocked and miss the opportunity but with the FA3 you’ll land it regardless (unless they were able to mash out an Ultra or something just as they come out of stun).
i today pulled of a combo in battle i thought was not possible.
j.lk > cr.mk xx hp shou

this gives us a good Air to ground Combo with good priority.
j.lk beats many stuff due to his extended hitbox (i often use that to reset the enemies AA attempt, but had no idea that you could follow up something useful)
what do you guys think?
ill break it down for you:
part of high level play is when you train an opponent to move the way you want them too. this ^ is one of those examples. although it was a failed attempt because the opponent did not jump on my U2 it still did no harm to me b/c the fireball kept me kinda safe like goukens ex fireballs. this how ever is a susseful attempt me playing evil rahsaan at a tourney:
but mr flowers pls do not get bored by this match. please go straight to 3:40 to 3:50 as my example is there. i ont know how to start it at 3:40. http://www.youtube.com/user/FrameAdvantageDotCom#p/a/f/0/1dqgBHMzsis . keep in mind that its a vsf4 but the same concept
i am aware of that and that is perfectly fine. keep in mind that there are many options that sakura has after that untechable knock down. again i wont bore you with those options but just know all those matches was in one room and they have seen them. so being repetitive would not be a good idea for me
all the guys a played i believe for them to be good. sakura does not have a midrange game or a faraway game. her game is inside. so rushing in blindly will not get you what you want. but once you are inside you have all day to stay on them until they manage to get out. since when you see able, rufus running away? they do when they play me…
yea that match was ass but i was just going down the list of matches. i didnt practice the recording, i just hit the onces where i showed sakura playing
yes rico suave and mac srk are the one of the best of those characters imho
so in short, im not sure to you thought high level play means to be perfect. as long as your executing showing good footsie and apply pressure to make the opponent do what you want them too is high level to me. especially in casual i look more into figuring out what beats what and good positioning for my character.
and just so all of you know. her mixups can be auto corrected easy. just fyi if yall thought it was free.
btw the last match of part 3, i was adon
i nvr knew this cause i thought u would have to follow up with jab/shorts if you land with a light kick. good find : )
t.hawk has one of the worst jumps in the game. what i would have done is not attempt air to air for a few reasons. 1. even if you successfully do the air to air reset with short, you would then have to deal with hawks 50/50 of dp or spd. 2. his move that down is very good as an air to air and its not worth competing with. so what you should do is stay on teh ground and when he does that move try you best to block it then u can walk forward a little then hit roundhouse. after he sees that he cannot do that he will empty jump. when you see him jump u can dash in and hit standing roundhouse or down fierce depending where you are. this way if he does do that more he will pass over you. his jump arc is so high and short you have all day to AA it
same for me, but that is i think thats just becuase we usually hit j.lp/j.lk very high, so some of the frame advantage is gone when we land so we can only follow up with light attacks.
but especially the situation(hitting with the Shoe into the face) on the vid shows how much frameadvantage j.lk can provide.
so in the proper setup it is +5 may be even more.
at first i thought it may have been a counter hit, thats why i rewatched the replay at all
Tried to reproduce it in Training Room for a some minutes:
on counter hit it is really easy to pull of, without counterhit a little harder but still doable.
but the advantage is clear Sakuras Body is quite far away after a hit/block so it is relative safe setup, may be even used to Empty jump/bait?
I also checked her Hitboxes of the Move and her Feets have Projectile inviciblitiy until the attack becomes active and she has a small hitbox for beeing attacked.
Gonna help espcially against those who like to AA alot (i.e. should work great against Sakura cr.hp and similar moves)
or people who can command grab you on block jump in. i think the range is big enough to be safe from most grabs.
Thanks citiofbrass!
I did enjoy watching those videos. I love the one where you had 1 pixel of life and beat the crap of that rufus
Oh thanks i’ll be sure to keep that in mind. I have no idea why the hell i kept trying to air to air and as a result I kept eating the dive attack. Also does Sakura’s cr.hp beat that dive?
don’t try to jump. cr.hp beats the dive easily,
just be aware that he can fake and cross over you and get you in the recovery
imho safes bet is block and punish. (u can catch him easily during his recovery)
Its a free ultra on block if you took Shinku Hadoken.(lp shou->u2)
My new favorite cross-up tool, cross mk, cr. mk, st.lk (ex tatsu or hp shouken (situational))
