Hey sugami! It’s good to finally put a schoolgirl face to the name.
the main two things that stood out to me were that you spent almost all of the time on the defense, and that you need to work on your throw teching.
For teching throws I find that just about all characters have similar combo timing, so you can just tap throw while you’re blocking in that rythm…
Sak and vega both suffer from weak defensive options. That pretty much means that whoever gets the initiative first is at a huge advantage. Just take part 6 round 1 for example (very well played btw).
against vega specifically you might want to look into option selecting shunpu after a meaty jumpin.:nunchuck:
Kinda hard to get in on Vega when c.MP keeps you at bay, Flippy attack knocks you out of the air and slide will catch you dancing around
If he ever threw me after that jumpy kick thing then it was the game saying “fuck you!” since I always try to throw in those situations (and see me throw him too) Some other times I swear I was hammering LP+LK and it ignored me but the jump attack > throw thing I rarely expect Need to just remember to OST after every jump attack just in case. Think he went for throws more when he realised his poking wasn’t cracking my defense as much as he wanted
Yeah you’ll see me use the fake cross-up “option select” Shunpuu trick a few times on him and must say I am liking it, stopping his back flip run away. Will have to make note to use it more often Hopefully next time the games will be closer.
Also, is there some delay between holding back and actually blocking? Particularly on cross-ups? Find cross-ups practically impossible to block on reaction, have to predict the attack will cross up at the start of it x_x;;
Yeah option selecting after jumpins is great if you can remember to do it. It doesn’t just work after “fake” crossups- thanks to this game’s auto correct it’ll work on crossups as long as it whiffs.
When you’re playing offline blocking is instant, but online there’s input delay which applies to everything including blocking. It’s the same reason that people block jumping attacks and get hit by the low followup online - they’re not idiots, they just didn’t compensate for the lag.
Oh that’s a more complex option select though hehe, my fake jump-in/cross-up one is easy to do
Well that’s weird, when there’s pretty noticeable lag it’s understandable but usually with that friend it’s minimal, quite a few times I’m totally holding the stick in the opposite direction from that attack (where he goes across the other side and comes at you horizontally) before I get hit but doesn’t block. I have to be really fast to block it, like as soon as he start flashing yellow when using EX version, and then score my c.MK xx Shou punish.
Way to stick it to that Zangief. Remember his Banishing Flat can be punished on block quite easily, regular can be punished on hit too but it’s really tight (and might just end up eating SPD :(). I got the feeling he was 360+PPP spamming at times too, saw a whiffed EX SPD when you were a good bit away from him x_x?
what shocked me most was his throw range at didn’t know it was that huge.
which move was SPD?
i usually have no problems with zangief, except with those who mastered their wakeup mixupgame.
can’t Zangief be cross up comboed into cr.lk ? i several times ate his reversal command throw after cross up , when going for cr.lk
never tested this out so it is my guess
SPD - Spinning Pile Driver (or is it Screw Pile Driver? meh)
Yeah if you hit him point blank with a normal and don’t cancel into say a Hadouken he’ll still be close enough to SPD you, which is why you need to be on point with link combos.
Yeah you can combo the j.LK into c.LK but it is pretty tight, problem is he’s so tall so you might end up doing the j.LK too soon not giving yourself enough time to combo the c.LK and thus he SPDs you.
From my experience and what I know, you have to have already inputted a jump motion before the animation starts.
It WOULD be nice to know officially, though. Can anyone confirm? :X
Also, been getting back into the groove lately, and recorded some matches as well (G1’ and casuals alike). Got the G1 matches up first, will put up more later.
In these videos, you can tell where I screw up or where a funny moment happens when subtitles just randomly pop-up (most of the time, at least). XD.
well ur playing pretty well(better gameplan then i have) in my eyes, mirror matches are hard cause u know her mixup game. i still get sucked up by ur throw escape j.hk sometimes.
i never really connected a following combo after reset either.
still need to stop using always hk shunpu, fucks my gameplay up every time^^
Your Sakura is nice Kay0ss. You do a good job mixing things up and staying offense in most of these fights. I definitely learned a few to add to my combo-bag. Hit me up on XBL for some mirrors.
@kay0ss
watched all games, you play very good i must say
doing flashy moves are cool and so, but when a j.hk or Otoshi would finish the job going for ultra is a bad idea (Ultra gains no meter while the other options do!)
i suggest you may add into your gameplay FA-> Reset-> Dash under (i.e. after long combo dizzy)
flower kick on wakeup into s.lp seemed to work pretty well, saw that from sabre often too, it lucky that in G1 rarely random Ultras/SRK come out anymore. That wouldn’t work on G3/G2, always eating ultra for trying that one.
i laught at the Ken in the end, he played so nice in the beginning(thought you would lose), and in the end spamming hp sho^^
also nice playing against Blanka.
i remember when i once played against blanka in G1, hard match, he got me cornered both on low hp, and he uses his ultra to chip me down, i cr.hp him out of it -> and Knock him out
then next round similiar,he again ultra -> cr.hp out of it -> KO
i lol so hard, imagning his face, to bad i didn’t record that.
But blocking the ultra like most of you guys do is the better option when enough Health remains.
“That’s what I get for trying to be fancy.” Yeah, don’t try to be fancy on dizzied opponents, you’re just watering down the damage even more and getting zero stun for your efforts
I finally decided to register even if I’ve been following this thread since the beginning of the game.
I learned a lot with Eish, Sabre and Obey’s videos. And also the last KayOss matchs made me realise that I still have a long way to pretend to be an average sak player lol.
Unfortunately there’s not as many sak player in France than in the US even if I’d already fight some pretty solid !!
KayOss in your matches I liked the way you tried to always be agressive and how you get that ken player crazy with the result that we’ve all seen lol ( random srk )
Next time I’ll try to get some of my matches to have your opinion and help to progress.
