Creating Videos on PC is much easier i guess, i should upload my last fight
the missing 5on5 videos that ign “lost” are now available on this page. this includes the wc vs socal
Damn Saber, your matches were so hype. Valle and Gootecks were completely minfucked.
great fights.
A few of my matches have made it to youtube stardom it seems. Click below to see me getting horribly out-played. :shake: It’s like a slow train wreck… :razzy:

Didn’t do too badly, in fact I’d say you did quite well, won one didn’t you?
Can’t Gen’s off the wall/ceiling kicks be punished on block? Could have got more than a sweep off the Super or Ultra punish on block, Shououken would have been easy to do.
I play that guy fairly regularly and it’s a really tough match. I can only beat him usually if I get the EX shunpu resets going - of course he knows that and does everything he can to avoid it. The problem (imo) is that Gen can rely on his superior ground game to force you into the air, which of course makes it predictable.
His wall dives can usually be punished but it depends how late he hits you. Like jump kicks landing on the ground cancels the recovery, or so it seems.
You’re right about punishing his super - i was feeling frazzled and went the safe option
The match needed more empty jump low attacks I think. And since he has a habit of constantly tapping throw as he defends I think j.HK, backdash, st.HK is worth a try.
This whole watching videos of yourself in action business is nifty. I’m seeing all sorts of missed opportunities and stuffups that I didn’t notice at the time.
EDIT:
You probably meant punishing the vertical wall dives. Yeah I’m not used to him landing so far away… next time I’ll try punishing with cr.MK xx shouoken
2nd EDIT:
Did you like my super-skillful avoid the perfect technique?
Well I’m not sure on how punishable the wall dive kick things are and whether it’s different depending on how he comes at you, you’d be safer doing a c.MP xx LK Shunpuu or c.LP x2 and going from there.
Random Ultra to avoid the perfect you mean? You know he could have easily jumped over it and still got the perfect
Well, I haven’t seen new videos posted, so I uploaded a few matches of my own. Unfortunately, I am quite new at this game… just started G2 recently, as you can tell from my GP. Hope you guys enjoy some of these.

By the way, suggestions for improvement are welcome.
Few basic things; know the range of your FA, seemed to whiff that a bit. You jump too much and don’t poke enough, when you poke with c.MK try to at least cancel into a Hadouken most of the time. When you don’t have meter it’s probably better to do HP xx Shou rather than c.HP xx HK Shunpuu (more damage unless all hits land from Shunpuu). Learn the “basic” link combos (or get better at them). Judge your jumps better, a whiffed jump is a free throw.
When you see how someone reacts to the reset/mix-up fun I’d suggest doing the dash > s.LP > dash one first since it gives them the least time to react (and I suspect gives you the most advantage).
Against Vega, c.HP all of his wall dives and when he does that little hopping kick thing get ready to tech a throw afterwards (he threw you so many times after it).
Against Ryus who like to spam LP SRK (and abuse lag), if the first one didn’t hit you up close get ready to block another one, after which you can punish.
Aren’t you glad I started recording matches for us all?
I’m about 99% sure that the way he does dive kicks are not deep, hence he is still at frame advantage I think. All I know is, as a Balrog player, I can’t cr. jab punish a dive kick is only the toe of Gen’s shoe hits.
Yeah good stuff! Now all you need is that tripod MrShakyHands :razzy:
Well if Rog can’t do it with his broken-arsed jab then no one can
I think the ceiling dive should be punishable on block because it hits so high, I’ll report back next time :bgrin:
Yeah… I gotta work on my throws and FA a lot more. As for the c.mk pokes, I also have to stop holding down/back when I do it so I can set up for hadou/shoryus… before Sakura, I was playing Guile and Vega, so it’s kind of a hard habit to break out of.
I got an idea on Sakura’s basic combos… it’s just that my execution is pretty poor; gotta work on that. As for jumping around, I don’t really know what to do against a shoto character other than jump in hoping they were planning to throw a hadou. If I use an ex otoshi, I am using up meter that I could’ve used for the ex shun or an ex shouken. If I block or walk, they’ll just keep spamming fireballs and cross me up when I get close.
All that aside, thanks a bunch for the tips.
watching a lot of these video’s makes me want to pick sakura up… i always wanted to play her well, but when SF4 came out, i was too new to everything that it was hard for me to do much with her… i think ill work on a few of the combo’s i’ve seen in a lot of the video’s and see what i can online a bit later.
It’s not hard to do DB+MK D DF F+P for comboing into Hadouken :). When you’re trying to catch someone with a c.MK xx Shou (counter-poke) you generally won’t be blocking at the time since you’ll be trying to get them to walk into it. You’ll probably be walking back and forward a bit throwing out DF+MK D DF+HP in front of their feet.
Jumping is the one thing you can’t do carelessly against shotos, especially Ryu as you could easily eat an LP SRK > Ultra, which is exactly what he’s trying to get you with. Jumping over them is fine if it’s safe but once you get into their SRK range you just have to walk forward and be patient, wait for your moments to jump in and yes if they get predictable with fireballs when you’re close enough then feel free to risk jumping in. Don’t be afraid to use meter on EX Otoshi to get you in, it’s what it’s there for. If you keep getting smacked out the air with SRKs you’ll never get to use the meter on EX Shunpuu.
most recent vid of my sakura.
i missed heaps of combo/links…
didn’t even get in the c.mk srk poke… but managed to scrape thru
please ignore the hater on the video…
he just got pwn’d by my saks the game before…
we do have tripods here in sleepy ol oz… it was left in the car…

can anyone see if there is anything i am missing ?

Here’s some casual matches I’ve had, I’ve never had anyone who actually plays sakura comment and critique my play, so all words much appreciated!
Seemed to win that quite convincingly, noticed a few mistakes but don’t think there was as many as you make out
Only thing I can really say is when you’ve basically got Honda trapped on the other side of the screen with Hadoukens you can hit him with LP Shou if he tries jumping over them towards you.
if someone could take a peek at my video i’d be more than grateful
I wasn’t in the best of mind when i recorded that, so I know I made a lot of moronic decisions like “oh i’ll just keep jumping in, third time’s a charm”. I know i tend to abuse the jump in as well, I’d be more cautious against a ryu or someone who spammed srk a lot on wakeup.
Okay geogaddi:
-at 0:20, instead of punishing that focus whiff with a simple HK, HP xx HK.Tatsu should be muscle memory already and your punisher for all. or at least cr.mk xx Shou.
-Seth’s Lighting legs can punished on block by cr.mk xx Shou and seeing as you had Ultra, that would end the match right there too.
-Great string at the end of the second Match, really popped that Seth can open, nice links there.
Besides these minor mistakes, you handled the matches really well, especially against two characters that are so annoying to face. you land pretty much all the links, and you just need to work a bit on the punishing side. Good stuff
