Yo that’s crazy that you’ve seen them already. WayGamble is the most solid Gief player I’ve played against. Hyperblast in my neck of the woods is more spontaneous and random with shenanigans, it’s going to take me a bit to break him  But maybe now people can understand why I believe Gief-Sakura to be 5-5. I recently changed my opinion to 5.5-4.5 though 'cause of the overwhelming damage dealing by random horseshit from Gief. That extra .5 comes from dealing with player horseshit though, not solid character vs character.
With the announcement of SSF4, I’ve decided to try out all sorts of “Fuck You” tactics to annoy just about everyone that I come across in casuals. Why? 'Cause this game is going to die and I want to be on the ship as it goes down in flames!~ Beware my random shenanigans they are a level above what I’ve shown so far =)
Not looking for stardom dude. Just wanted to show people there was another way to play Sakura than what I’ve been watching in the Match Vids thread =P Though I lose a lot more than I win, I have fun either way =P If I actually used the most punishing combos instead of messing around most of the time, I might win more -_-; I’ll save serious-business time for SSF4, for now it’s all about the show =)
yo eish, thx for that upload. i’ve been having probs with the cr. lk, cr. lp, cr. fp block string, but i saw you do cr. lk, lp, lp, cr. mk… so i tried it. WORLDS easier. no links involved. i swapped out the cr. mk with a standing lk since i like the tatsu better than the shou. it’s hard for me to go mk into shou for some reason
The problem with c.Short s.Jab s.Jab s.Short -> Hurricane is that it might whiff on crouching opponents? The whole point to c.Short c.Jab c.Fierce -> Hurricane is that the c.Fierce will force the opponent to stand so that the Hurricane will hit fully. If you’re having trouble with c.Short c.Jab c.Fierce try c.Short s.Jab c.Fierce. s.Jab is easier than c.Jab
I hate to go back on my word; but I’ve recently changed my style of play. I was intending on coming up with random shenanigans with the ultimate intent of making people hate the game. This “Road to Irritation” has lead me to develop a turtle-style Sakura o.o; Will record casuals tonight of me trying to mix shenanigans with a severe case of footsies.
I’ve only been using her for a week so bear with me.
I can’t land her combos consistently online I’ve noticed, in the first match it went well but after that it just went downhill.
Also walking into hadokens and tatsus all the time is because I’m not used to playing with delay that doesn’t allow me to block them on reaction.
But feel free to comment on matchup specific stuff and habits I should stop.
I already know I use cr.hk too much, need to change that to confirmed cr.mk x hp sho instead.
Those seemed like some hard fought matches… I just watched a few…
Some good advice off the top of my head (you already probably know a bunch of things I could mention so I wont mention em) is to combo when you connect a S.Lp
I noticed sometimes you would S.Lp once or twice and then throw. But you can S.Lp > S.Lp> C.Lk> Ex Tatsu… or many variations of that. Nice fights man. Hard fought.
Good stuff man. You learn quick, seems like you’ve been using her for much longer than a week lol. Good corner pressure, good air-to-air’s, definitely a solid sakura. keep it up!
One thing i noticed was that you like to do s.LP > c.HK. Instead of the c.HK, I like to do c.MK xx shouken. It deals more damage and its a 3 frame link compared to the 1 frame c.HK
The reason I do c.hk by habit after that is because it gives a nice setup for a safejump, now safejumping isn’t possible against Ryu so I just haven’t adjusted to switching to the combo you listed against characters with anti-safejump options.
Actually it is possible, and not that hard at all, to safejump after c.mk x sho but unlike after c.hk you don’t have time to setup a safejump crossup.
Basically, I need to do c.mk x sho more like you said, but I figured it’d be worth telling you why I do what I do.
Yeah I understand the reasoning behind the c.HK, but i just never saw a jump-in afterwards (only watched 2 vids). I’ve started using the c.HK as a reset as well, great for safejumps like you said
I saw missed opportunities After successful Focus Attacks when you had Super and/or Ultra you didn’t use either Sometimes just a s.HP xx Shou, maybe that was a failed Super cancel?
You always seem to back off after an EX Shunpuu reset too, what’s the point? Might as well just end it with an Otoshi for more damage if you’re not going for the mix-up
What I want to do after focus, and what I usualy do when playing offline, is cl.hp x shunpu, cr.hp x ex shunpu > reset.
If I have an ultra it’s probably best to go with cl.hp x ex shunpu, ultra.
He was mashing shoryu so it the risk vs. reward in doing something against him after a reset wasn’t in my favor, just waiting out his shoryus and punishing is better.
I was playing today offline a lot, and I was landing her combo with high consistency around 85%? It’s a lot easier getting a mixup game going with that since people are so afraid of getting hit and looped again, this is one of the many reasons I dislike playing online.
Only if

Other than that after a 4 hit combo it’ll probably only do about 150 damage, so if you think you can get away with a reset then it’s a much better option.
Usually if you are going for max damage, the cl hp lk tatsu cr hp ex tatsu into ultra is more damaging. I have never found a time where this was not the case, but I could see it being possible at around 8 or 9 hits.
Yeah she has no other attacks that can match the ultra for damage, I’m just saying that I believe that in just about all cases the potential extra damage you can get after a reset is worth taking the risk.
If you reset and then they reversal you and you weren’t baiting with block then obviously you’re losing out.
If they block, you try to tick-throw and they tech it then you just missed an opportunity for damage.
If they block, you land a tick-throw then you’ve almost made up all the damage that the ultra would have done and you’ve set up wake-up games
If you land a combo after the reset you can do much more damage than the ultra would have.
I guess it all depends on how good you are at getting in. I’m pretty crap at it so if I get an opportunity then I want to stay in their face.
Oh no, I am with you. I don’t use the ultra much, I was just talking for raw damage, its better to do the 4 hit double HP link combo than 1 hit into EX. I almost never ultra unless it is probably going to win the match, or I don’t respect my opponents character.
