Practice Junk

DF - Another man also said this… “Brushes bring the rape!” Do you know who that guy is?

ME nigga! LOL j/k. They bring the rape though.

Thanks Kay mo. I haven’t been on the comp much, but I have to because it’s a commission, so I really have no other alternative, heh.

Junk sketch, ended up coloring too much of it.

The hi-res is on my DA. I’ll link it later.

So, because of this last piece of art. YOU sir are my new hero.

Also, do you do commissioned work? Because I’m building a stick, and I might want to look you up for some artistic help? PM or just post here… sweet.

Already said that pic was hot over at DA. I’m glad you colored the bg also. Alot of people practice with figures only. Keep it going with the bg and figure colorations.

moving onto different palettes and lighting situations will up your game dude. Keep it going. I’d like to see your progress over the next year or so. You’re going to be a beast soon. Nobody would want you out of the cage.

Sailboat - Thanks man. Yeah I do commissions. I’ll pm you and on what you want to do.

SFMC - LOL on beast comment. If it weren’t for your crits man, I’d be stuck in the same rut I was in in 04. I’m taking up sequentials now, it’s pretty fun. I wish you could be on the comp more, I could you the critiques like constantly man.

Already talked to you on aim about the Turtles piece. Good work, playboy. 5 stars!

Here’s a new one. Hulk, lines by my buddy Terrance. http://angel-t.deviantart.com

damn that rocks hard. I only see a few inconsistancies with the cast shadows and highlights (nose and head), but everything else looks solid.

Yeah that was the first area I started “painting over”. The overall look was initially supposed to be more of a ‘glossy’ look, but instead I went for a more earthly-green. I figured it’d be more manly that way, I guess. Plus it would go with the BG.

Twilight Princess commission

I heavily reffed this one because I have no skill :(.

aint nothing wrong with reffing! Skintone is very warm right now though. You need some cool tones in the forehead, mouth area, and lower cheek. Only the nose, cheeks, and ears should be warm really. also value on the left(shadow) and right(light) side are very similiar. Highlights are kinda big too. Just picture the highlight as the closest part to the lightsource that extends to a certain distance. Let’s say 1mm, so on a big surface, if you shave off 1mm deep you’ll have a big chunk so bigger highlight. If you shave off 1mm deep of something small like the tip of a nose, you’ll have a smaller piece so smaller highlight. That’s how I picture things and it helps a lot to be precise with your highlights.

I commented on the Link on DA, very nice job man!

Your coloring is insanity!

That turtles pic… H.F.S! Your style of coloring is always so wonderfully bold and strongly textured!

Thanks or the brushes and the tut man!

damn yo that ninja turtles is sick. the coloring and lineart style are an awesome match.

Man, I’m missin out on so much. I gotta check out the fan art challenge submissions and shite from like late August and shit haha.
Did these on my day off.

Kando: Ace of Braids

Jon’s Leo

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v637/kandoken/leo2_jpmkk.jpg

fuckin sick leo coloring. only complaint is the lighting on the sword behind his shell.

Kando looks hot except there are too many highlights on her shoulder. what would look really good is if you put some emphasis on the part of the scapula where the clavicle connects to.

On Leo, you should group the darks more so his whole body looks like 1 form instead of seperate muscles. The whole postition of the sword bothers me but that’s on the guy doing the lines. When you have geometric shapes like swords, it helps to keep your strokes neat so if it’s at an uncomfortable angle, just rotate your canvas.

Your last post was about a month ago! YOu gotta post more.
