There’s more of Loomis’ stuff there. Excellent reference, reading, and learning material.
Yes, I noticed that your hands aren’t that great… especially in reference to that Rose pic you drew. I myself took up a friend’s advice, and started drawing my own hands in different poses. I must say it helped a lot… though I haven’t gotten anywhere near the thousands upon thousands of hands my friend drew…
Kandoken:
cool collab with Scabrous. where’s he been? he hasn’t been ard for a while. the perspective of the text is different from the text balloon… bugs me a lil’.
I asked Scab the same thing, but I think he’s doin some commissions or somethin like that. He says wants to stop by and check out the work, cuz I told him about how crazy everyone’s been drawing lately.
I told Scabrous about the Character Select Fanart Challenge. He’s actually incredibly busy doing comissions and working on a comic. You can see some of the comic scans in his DA page.
He says he may or may not do a pic on one of the shoto characters if he’s free. I’m just glad he’s found work.
Kandoken: Great job on the pic. It’s a great idea to add the energy effects. Do you paint in layers?
When doing your finished piece, you might want to ligten the lineart around her hands to indicate a “nimbus of energy” or “shine” like this http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/21885048/
Will give the energy a more 3D effect.
Great work there with the mouse. By the way what’s wrong with your tablet?
Damn, man! That’s one helluva compliment! Thanks alot man. I think I’m gonna practice up on lines a bit. But I have no idea where to start first sadly…
I wanna pick up anatomy again, but I also wanna pick up landscaping and perspective, and completely go a different route from what I’ve been doing. It’s kinda strange but, I think I’m sick of drawing the way I’m drawing. Or maybe I’m just not satisfied.
Hey Kandoken. Perspective first. It’s one of the easier ones, and once you have it under your belt you never have to touch it again. Again, I recommend the Loomis books.
Personally, I stress “understanding” perspective, rather than just applying the techniques. If you can understand how and why perspective works that way, the techniques will follow naturally.
I recommend this totally awesome book by David Chelsea as well.
Helps you to “understand” really well. The whole book is written as a comic. So you’re not really reading a textbook, you’re enjoying a comic! Get it from a library or buy it.
If you’re sick of drawing the way you are, get exposed to more art styles. It helps. Buy artbooks!
I’d rather know more of your specific, personal experiences rather than links, man. Tell me more of your exps with perspective man. I’m sicka seeing you typing links and books. I’m an artist! I can’t afford a book!
