You raise a good point, and I agree; convincing the owners of the more prevalent family fun centers to get a fighting game machine could potentially work. The only thing you’d have to do is make sure they didn’t get KOF98. While nice, it probably isn’t what you’re looking for
This week’s podcast has been released with guest TarkanX!
Also, shout out to TarkanX and everyone else who hasn’t yet sent me Midwest Roundup profile information. Get on that!
Kind of late but on the topic of the bar/restaurant/arcades they make GREAT venues if there is space for a tourney. They have the mindset of trying to keep everyone in the same building for everything which works very well for out of towners who wouldn’t know the area very well.
A post-SB4 wrap-up sounds very interesting! We could work in getting Daigo to Ohio in that one, and also be able to have a lot of other things to talk about.
^ Thanks! Once this backlog gets released I’m looking forward to recording weekly and actually getting the material out in a timely fashion. No more recording and then waiting two months for your podcast to be released.
Also, a recent email pointed out that I haven’t done much for the Midwest 3D scene. So, if you are part of a big, small, or otherwise permanent Soul Calibur, Tekken, or Virtua Fighter scene, please let me know if you’d be interested in doing a podcast to talk about your game and your local fighting game community.
In the near future I’ll hopefully have a podcast with Sluch and Dr4go of the Cincinnati, OH Tekken scene.
I would do one with Nash up here in Cle, and possibly Sazabi, if you want to do a Tekken one. That’s a good idea with BR coming out finally. They’ve been traveling for Tekken for years, and Nash actually won TTT at an NEC with a bunch of good players there. Honkey #1 was even a little better than them but he’s kinda retired with a family now
If you want 3D players, you should get Esom on here. He got 9th in SC4 at EVO, and 4th at the Colorado tournament a week later. His name here is sukkafoo.
Yep! Had a little bit of technical difficulty this morning and had to leave for class, but both episodes of this week’s Doubleshot are now posted!
Ghaleon talks about tournament organizing and becoming a noteworthy player.
J-Money talks about the Chicago scene, a variety of games, and also his tournament organization experience.
