Yeah, dont be fooled by the join date… Im old school
illinois tekken osu!
I sent in an email.
I shot you another PM, Osirun.
I sent email several weeks ago.
I unfortunately haven’t received the email in question. I have my email forwarded to my personal account, but your message didn’t show up in either inbox.
You can shoot me a pm with the information and the links to your picture and/or game matches, or try sending the email again.
Sorry about this. Technology, right?
It was my fault. I resent it. Thanks.
Just finished my podcast.
That was a lot of fun. Thanks for having me on, Osirun.
I’m working on my Midwest Roundup page now, lol.
so whats going on with the podcasts? i have been listening to some of them, and am looking to listen to jmoney’s and nappyjin’s.
Those podcasts will be released mid to late October. I’m still doing releases once every two weeks for right now, and even though I have both J-Money’s and Nappyjin’s interviews completed there are other recordings up before them.
so just wondering, how come u cant release them as they come? then just record interviews at your own leisure? not to rush, but if they are already complete, i m just wondering what the logic is behind withholding them.
spreading them out does generate more exposure with limited resources, but there is a medium since frequency is also important. since its a new show, u can increase your target audience with greater availability, like how tv shows try to keep a regularly scheduled weekly time. i know you try to keep up to date with time sensitive material, but i think the dry times are more important since time sensitive material will be saturated by the organizers’ marketing resources.
i do listen to some of the podcasts, so was wondering why there was a week long dry spell in the thread. could produce more active discussion.
How I’d love for recording good interviews to be that easy
I’ve said before that doing a weekly show would be great, but it’s a matter of getting people to come on and do an informative/entertaining show. I’m not about to claim that me talking for an hour about fighting games is going to interest anyone. Unfortunately it’s not always easy to get people to commit to doing the podcast, so I spread them out to give myself time to track people down and get things recorded. The last thing I want is to determine a weekly release date, release podcasts as I record them, and then run into a dry spell and not be able to deliver for a week or two in a row.
Right now, I do have a considerable backlog of recorded material, so I could do weekly releases for September, and possibly October. Quite honestly, I’m still getting my feet wet in the community and trying to make connections with players and TOs.
Having greater availability (and by that I think you may mean frequency of releases) wouldn’t necessarily increase the number of people listening, but it could potentially get people talking more, since their interview would be up in only a matter of days. That could then lead to more listeners.
As such, your point is taken. Once I figure out the best format for a weekly show I’m hoping that a few dedicated individuals will be the core group of recurring guests that I can rely on.
Thanks for your input and critique!
cool. i enjoy your podcasts. keep up the good work.
i’m gonna submit my profile tonight and if you need someone to talk about fighting games, you can hit me up too.
I’ll be honest…
I don’t think you’ll wanna listen to me rambling about nonsense for an hour.

GS getting such a wide variety of Midwest players on this, Nathan.
I also nominate Gary from IN (Heihachi) or James (Humbag) from IL. Did you meet them both at the Indy tourney? Gary doesn’t travel much unfortunately but is very solid at everything he plays, and James has done his share of traveling and is obviously into SFIV now too.
I think repping those guys would be great because SFIV is so huge, so if they could talk strats I think it’d get a lot of new-school people interested (my strat for SFIV is basically “Play it like a slow ST and do some Sagat standing RHs”).
Maybe even have both of them on simultaneously to talk over their hype grand finals?
I know Rex and NKI are playing it a lot too and could prob talk plenty about SFIV specifically.
Yeah I agree with Ghaleon about having Gary on (and Humbag too), I was just thinking about that this morning. I will try calling Gary tonight and whenever this week to make sure he’d like to do something like that.
I dont think I got to meet you formally Osirun at the Indy tourny. Well if we did I met quite a few new faces and Im sorry if I forgot.
Id be possibly up for talking sometime.
That’d be excellent, Humbag. I think having you and Gary on simultaneously would also be very cool. Thanks for the legwork, Brent! Can’t wait to see if Gary would be interested.
No, we didn’t meet formally, which is too bad. You’d be an excellent interviewee, so we’ll have to schedule that sometime soon. I’ll send you a pm, or you may send me one; whatever works
I’m thinking seriously about getting a weekly show going, so right now I’m thinking about format. I think I have a generally good outline to work from, and most of the guests come up with their own topics too. My only concern is trying to get a variety of games and levels of players represented.
I think this is completely possible, and is something I’m going to be working towards from now on.
1 hour podcast on jab jab throw? i’m down
