I was one of the unfortunate souls who could not attend CEO 2011 this past June, and after talking with head organizer Alex Jebailey I know that I missed one hell of a good time. Be prepared for some strong opinions and no-nonsense advice from the man who managed the largest EVO 2011 Tournament Season event.
Chicago Heart 3, coming August 13, is not your average tournament. Sure they will have SSFIV:AE, MvC3, and MK9, but those games are not the focus and both organizers, Kobayashi and HeartNana, are proud to support games such as GGAC, BBCS2 and AH3. Kobayashi comes on the podcast to tell me a little about himself and a lot about his involvement with Chicago Heart 3. I also get an update on the boom in the Chicago scene that has happened in just the past few weeks. HeartNana could not make it on, but check out this Q&A I had with him.
TFA WeaponsLeft comes onto the podcast to share his history in the fighting game community. He also brings up interesting points about how the scene can continue to grow as we are on the cusp of an important transition. I wanted to know what WeaponsLeft felt about the role of teams, such as The Fighter’s Alliance, in the ever-changing scene.
Really Good Podcast. Just to clarify, I think that I saw WeaponsLeft at UFGT7 stream IIRC playing in the character auction with Zangief, didn’t he make grand finals in that tournament?
You know I’m not sure. He did reply to a comment on the PowerUp website beneath his podcast episode, so if you really want to know I’d suggest commenting directly on the site. Hopefully he’ll get back to ya!
Keits is here to tell me all about Fighter X Shooter, coming up September 2 – 4 at the Crowne Plaza Chicago, Northbrook. This is the same great venue that brought you UFGT7 and Keits is teaming up with the same great crew to help make all your equipment dreams come true; Focus Fire.
I’m glad he had a good time! I’ll try to keep my eyes on the forums for the more obscure events out there and see about doing more podcasts about them : )
