Nathan explained both of these. He threw in a pot bonus for TvC because he likes that game, and Tekken got a pot bonus because it’s new and more players were expected.

i probably don’t have any edge in the kirby samurai game anymore, it’s been years so i prolly did sound off more than necessary… but i did spend a lot of time playing it when i was younger i loved the idea of the game fastest reaction wins… the best way to get zer0 is in fact to guess… or you can imitate the citar sound and hope your opponent jumps the gun… in any case i’ll totally play the next time you have it up and running, like i said i love that game
also, did team MI still get the bonus money?.. and if so how did you guys spend it? split it up?.. or hotel party with ribs and strippers?

Don’t worry about Cle – if we wanted to qualify we would have asked if we could set one up for N. Ohio We OGs who travel don’t really like SF4 and the other guys here are all beginners to the tournament scene. That’s nice of you guys to think of us though. I think P. Legend was the only person in N. Ohio who really wanted to compete at the game at PU. Honestly tournaments are more fun when you aren’t competing in the most popular game, and all the small amount of people in the side games you play are really into the games (i.e. the crowd there for SF:HD/ST)

Well, for it to be an oxymoron, I think the words “pride” and “match” would have to be opposites. It may however be a misnomer though. You do have the basic idea of what a pride match is though. It’s slightly more serious than a casual, but I guess not so serious that there’s money on the line.
lol I guess technically … Seriously though there’s no point in giving a free match a name other than “casuals”, that’s pretty silly. Honestly that could only happen in the MW – the best way to settle stuff and see what people are made of is put more than milk money on the line and no one really does, it’s kind of a bummer. Sidebetting as well really makes tournaments a lot more engaging. blahblah, I’ve said all this before though, sorry to be a broken record. But honestly it’s the best way to test yourself, and since we have tournaments like once every few months, MM’s are a pretty good thing to work into to your regular gaming schedule.
To share a quick example: I played MurderbyDeath in C-bus for 2/3 $5 bucks in HDR in C-bus (April tourney) because I figured I would win w/ basic Ryu zoning. His Balrog scraped me. So cos we were playing a set for $$ and we were both taking it seriously, I learned real quick that A: He knows his shit, B: If I’m going to beat Balrog I had major homework to do. Just a quick no-nonsense match like that really made me think about my game.

J-money, you would have been top 4 for sure, but where in the top 4 is questionable. NeonGeon and ESPECIALLY Flexo were very good.
At the very least I think people should tone down the shit talking if they know full well there will be no culmination.

Only problems were the annoying venue rules and the chair nazi. No outside food = lame! But yeah, I heard it’s gonna be a new place next time so if those problems are fixed you can expect me there. Also I would work on getting a match on every station a little more. Pools maybe? Other than that it was awesome!

Man, the outside food rule was good because we were supposed to have catered BBQ on site, which is incredible (and affordable) But as I understand, the smoker that the guy uses broke and he couldn’t get parts in time to fix it.
Also, the chair nazi is gone forever now.

Eating what you want is a luxury you lose a lot at tournaments due to outside food/drink rules… but the thing that pissed me off was when he told me i couldnt have my water. Really dude? I can’t have my cup of water to stay healthy and hydrated in your hotter-than-hell venue that you refuse to turn the AC up in? GTFO.
I know people dont want to talk about it, but I’m glad “Chair Nazi” as you are calling him is gone for good from the equation. He was a terror, looked like he hated all of us, and wanted us all out of the building asap.
