I don’t really understand that. People are more likely to come back if they don’t feel like they’re playing in a police state. It’s probably better for business overall if you just let people enjoy themselves.
But yeah, I’ll get you next time!

There ya go. It was a one-time thing, I assure you. Well, unless people wanna try out a shmup for themselves
MI is officially the best now. WHAT
lol.
Well its about time Michigan is beating Ohio in something
what ever happened to that guy who someone said doesn’t lose at UMK3? sounded interesting. maybe im getting something confused though.
That’d be McLovins, the UMK3 player from Cincy. He went undefeated in the UMK3 round robin.
props to him, thats bad ass.
Finally have a moment to sit down at my computer and send some thanks. Had to completely move everything out of AL in TWO DAYS with lots of complications. So…
First off, thanks to everyone who supported Arcade Legends since we opened our doors last May and helped keep us from drowning in the weight of our lofty ambitions. It’s mainly because of the fighting game community that I am able to keep AL alive for at least another year. Hopefully Arcade Legacy will draw new people to the community and I can keep doing this as it’s something I love.
Please keep the suggestions flowing for the new place and I will tackle them as time and money allows.
PowerUp Thanks:
Nathan - thanks for all your help this year with getting the ranbats started, podcasts, general fighting game support and promotion and then deciding to have PowerUp at AL. Hopefully the PowerUp/Arcade Legacy team up is one of those things that becomes legendary over the years.
Webster - It was great to meet you and spend a weekend hanging out and watching you do what you do. I hope we get to do it again in the near future.
Amanda, Frank, Zach, Quentin, Matt M, Matt N, Ghaleon, Mario, Sluch, Keith, Eric and Brent - This is the team that made things go smoothly so BIG BIG thanks for that. If I forgot anybody that ran something for us, sorry and insert name here __________
Steak n Shake storytime sendoff was a blast. I rarely get to hang out after events so all that stuff was new entertainment for me.
The food issue was unfortunate but since it happened on the first day of PU, we were kind of stuck with what we had. The AC issue was also something that I can’t explain. I don’t know if our AC units were dying or just crap but they were not acceptable. The new place has 2 brand new AC units and they work like a champ. Couple that with 18 ft ceilings and you have a much more comfortable situation. Luckily there were no major issues and I’m glad most everyone was very understanding and still had a great time. Things are definitely looking good for PU2011 so far.
Also, I’ve been having some internet issues the last couple days so I have some of the results hijacked on my laptop. I’m sending them off to Nathan so he should get them posted up soon.
I get it. The AC isnt doing its job. Its cool.
What isnt cool is being told I cannot have ice water. Thats actually dangerous and im quite sure one or two of the people I talked to who were getting ‘sleepy’ or ‘sick’ were having heatstroke or were dehydrated. Water/Chair Nazi… damn you!!!
you don’t fuck with powerup tourneys, people near death n shit. real test of skill is if you can play while your organs are shutting down.
I had fun playing in the 3s tourney and casuals, and the organizers did a great job. I wish the best of luck to Arcade Legacy. I’m moving to Cincy so I’ll get to stop by more often, yay.
Keits I am pissed I couldn’t finish my combos to save my life. I could blame the switch from pad to a very shitty stick two weeks before as the cause but I wont. I will just practice my execution on this shitty stick once I get it fixed.
Jmoney they only streamed winners, losers, and grand finals I know the link for those are somewhere around here.
I got real sick on sat lack of sleep hydration the heat were all a factor but it was still and amazing time and I have no complaints
Jesse – keep up the great work man and I’m sure the community will support. I hope you’ll be doing a tournament at Legacy this summer – let me know if I can help organize or anything.
btw after years of traveling I roll up to tourneys with a pack of bottled waters and some food that won’t go bad over a weekend – Tourney 101 IMO cos the conditions get so grueling. I recommend peanut-butter sandwiches, granola bars and old-people drinks like Boost/Ensure
Barzaad: Ill money mactch you next time if you want, Im down with that.
Word up everyone!?
I posted all my shout outs & props in Tekken over on TZ, but I just wanted 2 say thank u once again 2 Jesse, Nathan, Webster, Amanda, Jeramiah, & everyone else that helped run things 4 PowerUp. It was a phenominal tournament & things couldn’t go smoothly w/out the help & support of the staff, so mad props there 2 everyone 4 sure.
Also, thank u everyone 4 showing up 2 PowerUp 2 make it as fun & badass as it was. It was awesome seeing all the peeps there I know having a great time. This shit was top tier indeed.
That’s all 4 now. Take it easy & have a good one. Peace. :china:
This is what I like to see, hype.

Hey all, unfortunately I wasn’t able to be there to present this to the winner of the raffle.
But I wanted to show some pictures to give credit to Arcade Legends for putting up the money and taking what was originally just going to be a free QCF case, and turning it into a full custom PS3 stick for the winner.
The other person who deserves credit is Arkayne, who did the awesome artwork. He wasn’t given any sort of direction other than “draw some cool art” and somehow came up with a look that matched the stain and color of the case perfectly. I think the final result came out really good, and hopefully the winner Otter will be happy with his prize.
Thanks to AL and everyone who entered the raffle and here are the pics:

(the last one is an attempt to capture the look of the stain and grain on the wood, but my camera wasn’t cooperating and wouldn’t focus).
