Oh buddy. Once you understand how to use Plasma Beam you will start seeing some results.
Basically, its strength relies in its range, speed, and active frames. The main use for Plasma Beam against most characters to start full-to-midscreen approach. Some people are gonna walk away from Nova at the start of a match, so this will allow you to close the gap safely. If they push a button and you miss the hit confirm, don’t worry, you’re still in their grill. But even more ideally they’ll block, it locks down so long that you already have a high low mixup. Nova’s really good about staying in someone’s face, so you only need to call Plasma Beam once to get near them, and then you’ll more than likely be able to start applying pressure with your lockdown assist. (I see that you have Cold Star. Excellent choice.)
Lastly I recommend studying recent Infrit match videos (any time he plays Nova/Spencer/Doom), as well as Insaynne and Dragon God, all of whom play Nova with Plasma Beam. There’s no frequently-recorded Nova/Doom/Ammy player right now, but I’ll be on-stream at casuals tomorrow night lol.
So I’ve looked into Nova/Task/Spencer and there seems to be a good amount of potential there. However I’m sure which will be a better anchor, Spencer or Task
I run Nova Task Spencer and when Nova dies I find a way to get Taskmaster in the back…the forums say Spencer is better but I prefer Taskmaster. TBH “A good amount” is an understatement lmao. The team kills everyone from She-Hulk and below with two meters. With Spencer on point it kills everyone from Hulk/Nemesis and below with 2 meters…all while building a meter in the process. Plus Taskmaster makes Nova so godlike. If you want tech,
I run Nova(C.Rush)/Hawkeye(greyhound)/Strider(Vajra)
The team has a lot of synergy going on, I think, and I’ve had some success with it at locals.I just want to improve it, my biggest issue is damage. Any suggestions?
either drop Hawkeye or drop Strider. If you’re content with keeping Hawkeye, drop Strider for either Spencer/Vergil or a character than can raw tag after airthrows (Dante, Doom, MODOK, etc.)
If you want to drop Hawkeye, pick up either Dante, Doom, or MODOK so you can get airthrow raw tags. Or you can pickup Vergil where airthrow pickups will become irrelevant.
With Strider you can do any combo ending with a hard knock down, otg with Nova slam, call Strider, do human rocket for 2 hits and Strider causes another knock down so you can do L rush xx super without Strider, Nova can do his fly unfly in the corner and after the relaunch, do j.H xx M pulse xx grav. blaster ~ j.H xx Super Nova but I believe if you just do Super Nova you should get more damage.
Also, Insaynne posted that combo a few days ago that shows Nova linking Gravimetric Blaster into Super Nova solo, so that mitigates some of the damage problem. But that’s still a very low-damage team despite having some great assist synergy.
Yeah, but Human Rocket does no damage…there’s no difference from just DHCing into Hawkeye. The combo Insaynne posted is probably the best way Nova can use two supers and it’s without assists. The thing with Hawkeye being second is that it’s not optimal whatsoever. Hawkeye’s best position is either on point or anchor IMO. Anchor him and pick a new 2nd if you want to play Hawkeye and have your team be competitive. You can also play him on point while anchoring Nova. Hawkeye takes AMAZING advantage off of Nova’s cent rush assist since you can very easily unblockable your opponent with call Nova+slide, poison tip, slide again for easy ass unblockables.
I think if you’re going to play Strider though with Nova, Nova needs to be on point. It’s kinda difficult to get kills with Nova having Strider only to DHC. It’s okay, but not as good as having a character than can loop supers/level3 or kill on his own with meter. IE: Dante, Vergil, Doom, etc.
Nova/Doom/Strider, Nova/Vergil/Strider, and Nova/Dante/Strider are the best Nova Strider shells IMO.
Yeah I know. But someone might want to run a team like Viper/Nova/Strider, Zero/Nova/Hawkeye, or Wolverine/Nova/Sentinel and this can be useful for them.
I know what you mean. It’s hard to find balance between what you want to run and what’s considered optimal. All depends on what you want out of the game, I guess.
Exactly. I’m only talking Optimal. Viper having Nova 2nd doesn’t really provide as much as lets say having Doom or Dante 2nd. It’s not optimal for Viper or Nova.
