They’re actually pretty good. They lockdown a little better than you might expect but as you said start up and travel faster than say, Task assist, which is not necessarily a bad thing. Check out old Combofiend videos (EVO being the most recent time he played Nova/Hawkeye iirc) to get an idea of how to use them. Who were you thinking of putting in the middle?
After a long consideration, I have swapped out Dante for Strange, so my team now its Nova(b), Strange(y), Ammy(b). Some match-ups are now a lot easier because bolts controls the space Nova wants to be in and as soon as you get in Cold Star gives my enough lock down to open people up. Hopefully this is able to do more damage and still maintain heavy pressure
Although its a bit harder against Zero (that bastard can literally abc while the bolts are shooting at him) and Capt America (YOLO Charging Star gives no fuck against botls), also Strange is ass against them. Strange overall is a lot harder to play that Dante, but that THC with Ammy and random hail mary super is pretty scary, DHC into spell is a lot more powerful too.
I’m posting way too often in this thread, but I’ve got a lot to say lol.
One of the guys in my area actually plays that team with Ammy 2nd and Strange in the back. You might be surprised but Bolts is probably one of the best assists for Ammy. It allows her to just charge in on the opponent and go for a throw or instant overhead/c.M mixup and I think can extend combos decently well with the glaive. It depends on who you want as anchor I guess, but that team has incredible DHC synergy and obviously two of the best assists in the game backing up Nova.
Strange does get eaten alive by Cap and Zero, but I think you’ve got a pretty solid counterpick on your hands if Dante’s not getting the job done for you or if your opponent has limited mobility (where Bolts truly shines, whereas Jam Session is good at taking care of characters who like to hang at super-jump height).
I know that. Ammy/Strange is basically the same as Nova/Strange, except its a lot slower and you actually have to use your brain to get in. When I play the Dante team, I have Ammy second because its easier to DHC, but damage was an issue, since the DHC doesn’t do that much damage and exchange combos are very limited with her. But with Strange, with practice exchange combos are extremely strong and spell does a lot of damage max scaled. Strange with Ammy is pretty good too. Cold Star lets you teleport like a nut and gives you time to charge or put an eye in the field, THC with this setup its pretty much death for any character.
That’s a good point, I forgot about the THC. Well either way you’ve got a pretty flexible team on your hands. Ammy has a great untechable reset with Nova assist as well.
Anyone besides Spencer… not tryna mimic the old team combofiend. I was thinking either Dante or Dormammu. The Nova into Dormammu DHC looks spiffy for damage but having Dante in the middle seems to have more team synergy overall.
Yeah I think if you were gonna play Dormammu you’d want an assist that helps him out better. Although the assist is good for his teleport mixups, he can’t even get a consistent relaunch off of Greyhound and their DHC synergy is alright at best. Dante is a much better choice.
Strange is a good choice.

Hey guys ive been thinking about using Nova Dante Vergil team and i was wondering if i should use weasel shot or jam session with nova. Rapid slash covers the bottom half of the screen so i was thinking jam session would be better to cover nova in the air. but i hear that nova weasel shot is pretty cheap. not sure which would be better

Yeah… the team is lacking in a strong horizontal assist. Rapid Slash technically covers that vector but it’s easily punished and slow. Weasel Shot is a good lockdown assist that Marvelo puts to good use, Jam Session is good against opponents who like to super jump away from Nova, but I’ve only ever seen Japanese players use it. Vergil/Nova can be pretty good (as was discussed earlier in this thread) and Nova/Dante can be pretty good, but I feel like both of those combinations need someone else in the back.

Thinking of using nova/doom(plasma)/strider(the one that matters) looking for some combo help plz. So far I got ground series H fly H unfly H L rocket punch H land H call strider S energy javalin cen rush m cent rush h super nova. Though sometimes the javalin doesnt hit or will hit them on the way up smh. Thoughts on this team?
I mean, Doom/Strider’s a pretty top-tier shell, Nova can get a lot out of Plasma Beam and gets easy confirms from Vajra, derpy anchor, solid team. I don’t remember any extensions with Vajra, but if you check some of Marvelo’s videos there will be some. The basic Plasma Beam extension is Nova Slam, wait, call Doom, stand H xx Cent Rush M, Cent Rush H, super.
I play it sometimes. It’s pretty good since you can abuse his Cent Rushes with both assists. Basic Ender is Nova Slam, S+call Strider, SJC Energy Javelin, Cent Rush H to Super. It’s consistent and pretty easy once you get the timing.
Another ender is also, Nova Slam, S+Call Strider, SJC to Cent Rush M (Cent Rush M has to hit them on the way down), either Cent Rush H or Rocket Punch L, Nova Force. Surprisingly if you hit them with Rocket Punch L before you Nova force, the DHC to Doom ends up doing way more damage since they’re much closer to the ground. So if you’re going to DHC it’s smarter to do Rocket Punch L though doing Cent Rush H + Nova Force does slightly more damage solo.
Same concept goes to his corner combos off throws. Nova Slam, S, j.H, Rocket Punch L, ADD, st.H, S+Call Strider, SJC Cent Rush M, ender of your choice to Super.
Nova Strider has reallly sick resets that I should make a video for and the combo extensions are sick since Strider doesn’t scale the combo much.
Max damage combo I have for this team at the moment does like 830k with 1 meter in the corner…working on a variation that incorporates Doom assist but it’s looking like if I do that, you won’t be able to DHC to Doom but ima still see what I can do.
Edit: Max damage at the moment is 849,200 with only Strider
Edit 2: 1,029,800 with Strider and DHC to Doom…no Doom assist call.

you can do S+Strider on that last relaunch and when you get in the air, j.H xx L or M Pulse Strider knocks down ADD + whiffed j.H to hit the ground faster, Nova Slam ~ L nova strike xx Super Nova xx Sphere flame
