I agree…Nova Ammy is one of those pairs that once there is an assist, it’s OD but alone it’s lacking. As for Nova missiles…I personally think beam is just the better assist if you don’t have any horizontal coverage but that’s just me.
This is my old team. That team has so much damn synergy its ridiculous. Me and dougiie ran a few sets one night and I use this team. You want the best order to that team IMO is Nova,Task, Vergil. Taekua like you said enjoys setting up the unblockables with Vergil on point, but I don’t really like Nova much as anchor, even though he isn’t and absolutely horrible anchor. You could also use Nova, Vergil,Task so Vergil can use H. Shot along with Nova.
I’ve dropped Vergil from my main team (I still use this team but I feel like its starting to become too cheap for me) and picked up trish in the second spot. Nova and Trish have a crapload of synergy based around Trish’s Round Harvest supers. Unblockables, cool Energy Javelin combos, plus you’ve got your hard hitter (Nova) and a good keepaway shell (Trish and Task). I think Trish is so underrated its crazy. Nova and Trish are so sick together
You can DHC into Nova super if you don’t do the full super. Just DHC so Nova says “Power of the (DHC) Dante!” and it will cause a hard knockdown. If you Devil Triggered you can pick him back up with Volcano or Cold Shower or whatever one of the 456 OTG moves Dante has
Just watch Moons (Nova, Task, Ammy player) If you want to really know how to play Nova Ammy. His Nova is ridiculous too. One of my fav players
In the corner you can do…
H loop, Nova Slam, S+Jam Session, tk Javelin xx M Cent Rush, H Cent Rush, Super
The M Cent Rush has to be done as soon as possible after the Javelin because you need to tag them before they touch the ground since you’ve used up your ground bounce from the Nova Slam.
Does just a hair under 800k starting with cM.
It’s really not worth going for the Javelin. Especially since most Nova players start off their combos off of instant overhead or something. That will push the limits of HSD.
I have so many side teams with Nova it’s ridiculous. I think I’m finally ready to put all my time and effort into one, and it basically came down between Nova/Dante/Doom and Nova/Doom/Ammy.
Out of those two, I’m going to have to invest in learning either Dante or Ammy. Which of the two do you think is better for a Nova/Doom shell as a whole? Looking at Marvelo’s write up for Dante makes me very interested in running him. I’m thinking of using Jam Session with him since I plan on working on having a full on keep away aspect with the team, and from what I can tell Jam Session is better at combo extending than Weasel Shot.
Then there’s Ammy and her Cold Star. I’ve fiddled around with the Doom/Ammy duo for myself with Thor and enjoyed it pretty well. Plasma Beam for distance, Cold Star for close range footsies and combos.
I’m torn here.
I would say go with Nova Doom Ammy for the simple reason that it’s basically Mo0Ns’s team mixed with Dragongod’s team and they are both great. I don’t care for the Nova Dante duo simply because of the bad DHC options…that’s about it for me…Once I can’t get a good kill, I wouldn’t be satisfied but I guess that’s just from me being spoiled with my team lol. PLUS, Nova airthrow = kill combo with a Doom hardtag

Yeah it basically plays like a mixture of MarlinPie (Doom Ammy, mix up based heavy hitter on point, anchor Ammy), Mo0Ns (Nova with cold star) and Dragongod (Nova w/ Plasma).
Nova/Doom/Ammy is probably the best Nova team there is. If you’re not completely sold on wanting to play Dante, I’d recommend sticking with the latter. Dante takes a LONG time to get good with. Don’t expect to get good with him even in a couple of months of gameplay. It’s going to take a while. That being said, Dante is fuckton of fun. You can rawtag Dante MUCH easier anywhere on the screen for unscaled. Jam Session is pretty great with Nova especially at extending his combos. Out of those teams though, Nova/Doom/Ammy is just a better team. I only started to play Dante because I wanted to play Strider with Nova and I knew that Dante would be a great choice. If you’re going to play that team though, Nova/Doom/Dante would be the better order so you get Doom TAC’s and easier DHC’s.
Nova/Dante has decent DHC options. Dante lets you confirm Nova Speed Tackle from any height because of Devil Trigger, let’s you DHC even midscreen (unlike Doom), gives you a DHC out of Gravemetric Blaster so you can Super when you see drones or missiles called DHC into Million Dollars XFACTOR and kill 2 characters. Also, using the correct combos allows you to DHC into Million Dollars off Nova Force even in the corner. Dante’s DHC’s are fine. Moonz and I have spoken about this several times already and Nova/Doom/Ammy is pretty broken.
I guess my position on Doom and Dante’s DHC options come from me being spoiled with the luxury of being able to DHC from any situation. Points well taken though.

I’m fiddling with nova/doom/strange for the bolts. But then again, doom/Ammy THC is just so good. And my heart aches without a TOD combo.
But I could imagine the airgrab shenanigans nova can produce with missiles and cold star. Raw tag into doom would kill just about anyone…
For Nova Doom Strange, i would personally suggest Nova Strange Doom…Strange with bolts and Doom with missiles. Nova >> Strange DHC will ALWAYS WORK since his super tracks. Nova dies, Strange will have missiles to help with the fact that he isn’t very mobile outside of teleports.
If not that, I would suggest Nova Doom Strange but with Doom having plasma beam and Strange with eye of agamotto as a lock down assist for incoming (only saying this after seeing how Yipes and Combofiend use the regular one before tagging Strange out for Nova after a kill). I believe the order Strange Doom with those assists could be cool too since we already know about the shenanigans that occur with beam assists and teleport characters.
As for Nova Doom Ammy, I don’t think anyone will play that with Doom on missiles simply because Nova will have no horizontal coverage which I believe everyone agrees is beyond crucial for Nova to have.
Back to the Nova Taskmaster thing…I think I’m going to do a write on that pair idk yet Nova with a horizontal assist AND a character that can easily make his damage reach 900k with 2 meters and kill a lot of the cast with 3? I think it’s worth a write up lol

You could try Strange/Ammy, too. The THC setup is similar, although when I see serpentaurus do it he sometimes burns X-Factor. But since it involves Strange constantly teleporting left and right during Okami Shuffle, it’s nearly impossible to block, and he gets the pick up with Grapes of Hoggoth/FOF.
And yeah, for most intents and purposes you’re going to want Asthma Beam for Nova, but if you have adequate horizontal cover from another character Missiles can be extremely effective.

When I went in the lab a few minutes ago and realized Strange could get Nova to link two supers…smh…but yeah…Americans have this habit of looking at characters on paper and shrugging them off calling them “ass” and shit like that…then get hit with a rude awakening by someone from another country.
with the current way the meta is I find it hard to create a nova team that’s better than Nova/Doom/Ammy. Incredibly strong neutral, can TAC to kill of any touch, still have a very strong shell in doom/ammy and a great anchor in Ammy. I’ve been toying with the idea of making a more Nova-focused team than my current one (it’s a Frank team), and I’m struggling to find anything else that’d be better. Just hate playing doom :./.
