Low Voltage is your best option if you don’t get another horizontal assist in the mix. If you use Doom or Task, you can use Peekaboo, which is probably okay for incoming mixups. Honestly you might be able to find some cool stuff with Grav Pulse H and Peekaboo… double traps.
There used to be a tutorial video but I can’t find it.
Basically, you start a combo with the arf 6H chain, and when you get the 4th or 5th hit out, you call Nova and immediately switch cancel to glaive, then do c.M and follow up with a combo. It’s a guaranteed unblockable unless they hard tag, which trades with Nova (I think). Ammy can do 1mil+ this way, and since Viper is a much more damaging character I’m confident this will lead to kill combos on anyone with a similar unblockable using Thunder Knuckle and s.L.
Neither Nova/Trish or Nova/Viper are optimal, at all, but they could be made to work. I like unique teams so I’ll hop in the lab with these after a while.
Okay, after doing some labbing, Trish’s infinite is really easy if I can do it this consistently. HOWEVER, I think Low Voltage is the best assist for this team because you can use it mid-combo (which Peekaboo sucks for) to force a TAC into Doom, kill a character, and then have the Doom/Trish/Nova order. This might seem suboptimal, but you can use Air Photon Array on an incoming opponent to force them to stand, then DHC into Round Harvest and go for the unblockable. That’s 66% nigga welcome to Fortuna
Actually this whole team is just easy TAC infinites.
though mostly useless and quite possibly common knowledge already today i learned i could double hyper off either of nemmys hypers in the corner (red life not required.)
the trick i guess is making sure they are in the corner when you dhc to nova and that they land on top of gravimetric blaster so you can follow up with super nova.
sure it uses three meters but even from a simple nemmy combo i was getting 1.05 mil consistently (off command grab mind you.)
although due to my team with me using nemesis as an example theres no reason this wouldnt work with other characters hypers.
Unfortunately I think what you found is about the best Trish can offer, well the unblockable setups are good, but Im really not a fan of tacs, hadnt even thought about that team being tac land until you mentioned it, but its quite right, I was labbing with Iron Man myself though, but same deal really. Neutral feels pretty weak with Trish though, and while the dhc is good, it really does feel a little too far from optimal, right now she feels like a worst Dormy, Dormammu may not offer the ublockables but is better by himself, can get more out of Nova and has a better assist, or at least easier to combo off. Was really looking forward to using Trish (which may have been incfluenced by having just finished the DMC HD Collecttion and remembering how much I loved those games -_-; ) but not really feeling her right now, will give it a couple more days of practice and matches to see how it goes.
@Ewig
RS is a solid assist for Strange. Honestly the reason I prefer my order is because I can TAC into FoF loops after a midscreen throw, almost every throw leads to Strange’s level three (this also opens up TAC fakes and better Incomming mixups). In the corner I can raw tag Vergil, hightime, super, then DHC ‘glitch’ into Strange rebuilding all the meter I just used. While I only do this sometimes it’s still crazy damaging, as damaging and consistent as sword loops. Strange second also lets me have a powerful DHC without having to use my redlife. Lastly, Vergil last is really too good to give up (if your team can put him last) 90% of the time.
I dunno dude. I think this team is like a better Wesker/Trish/Doom that will kill one character then guarantee a kill on the next character and then pretty much guarantee a kill on the next one if executed properly. TACs definitely make Trish way more broken than I expected. If Trish had a better assist for Nova I’d call it an endgame team, but you can make Plasma Beam alone work for him.
Also give Trish some time, you just tried to pick her up recently and she’s a fairly complicated character, way more so than Dorm in my opinion. Also I think Dark Hole is pretty mediocre for Nova so you might as well get the easy TAC and guaranteed kill.
I’m gonna try out Nova/Trish/Ammy for a while i think, i’m totally smitten with Nova/Ammy now but i want a Frank substitute for games where i want more meter freedom and security. How’s the durability on Low Voltage? Basically i just want it to cut through some stuff so i can close, then Ammy keeps me in that ass for plenty of time.
By the way, who’s the other guy here that plays Nova/Frank/Ammy? Blue Lightning? Can i steal all your incoming setups?
That would be awesome. I have some cool Nova/Ammy stuff, but my Frank/Ammy stuff is still pretty basic because well…make them block and call Ammy is already fucking godlike. Haha.
Low Voltage’s durability is very… low. 3 low durability points. I think its high point is the slow speed and fairly large vertical hit box. And on that team you’re gonna need it.
@UntitledScrub
Oh yeah, I never meant your order wasnt good, I just feel, and this may be pure personal bias, that Nova/Vergil/Strange is a more optimized team order because while anchor Vergil is very powerful and his assist is good for Nova its not the best, so if one’s not going to use the tod dhc I just feel it would be best to simply use someone else altogether, like strider for example, just as good an anchor, and with a better neutral assist for Nova. Or Ammy, not as good as Strider or Vergil, but a much better neutral assist for both Nova and Strange and a valid anchor in her own right, and we all know the craziness of Ammy thc.
Thats not to say Nova/Strange/Vergil is not powerful, Vergil anchor is always great, your raw tag tech sounds pretty cool, and if Vergil is a good assist for Strange that could potentially make it just as optimized as Nova/Vergil/Strange, Im just really ignorant where Strange is concerned so I cant comment on that.
But yeah, basically just feel the reason to use Vergil with Nova is for the tod dhc, otherwise I think there are better options, that said Vergil anchor will always be top tier, and it can work with the rest of the team thats just gravy.
Fully agree both teams can dish out obscene amounts of damage.
Funny you should mention the better assist, I was just thinking today about how godly this team would be if Peekaboo forced opponents onto a standing position a la spencer. I think that just became the number one change Id like to see if there ever was an update to the game. --; …well that and adding Cyclops damn it! --;
But wishful thinking aside, truth is Ive tried Trish before, but Ive never been able to really get the hang of her, she just feels… weird. Trying her with Doom does feel better than Iron Man though, so like I said I will try to stick it out with her a little longer. Dormy is definitely easier though, and arguably better, Dark Hole is pretty bad, but I actually run him with liberation, its better to extend combos with and it can be way better than dark hole when charged. Though that is still too situational to make it really useful as a neutral assist. still better than Trish’s though, both offer a tod dhc and benefit from doom’s beam, though I feel Dormy makes better use of it, and lastly when on point I think Dormy gets more use out of Nova’s assist than Trish does. No easy tacs though.
I dont know, I dont really feel either team is really optimized, though they both have some cool stuff, but for now Im going to try Trish some more and see what I can find with them.
Ok I don’t have a lot of time right now but soon enough I’ll leave a small list of stuff I do for incoming. Of course, if more people want to share, go right ahead, I don’t know or do them all
super jump and ADD j.H to force them to block it. If they pushguard you, dash in and air-grab them. Most basic guard-break setup, doesn’t require any assist. Do this along with Cold Star because I find people are most likely to pushblock if assists are included for some reason. If you don’t call any, people usually have the presence of mind to not press any buttons.
Neutral jump and ADU as you call Cold Star then do Light Nova Strike (qcb.A). Very dirty left-right mixup that honestly not even I know how to block.
Similarly to the previous one, Neutral jump and ADU as you call Cold Star but then just do j.S, they’re forced to block it and Cold Star both keeps you safe and gives you enough time to run a high/low/grab mixup.
Mid-screen only, setup a gravimetric pulse (shield) and slide under it, then pick up and combo them. works better with red life as it gives you more time to combo after.
Easier in x-factor and mid-screen, throw a Javelin and cross under your opponent. Can be done together with GPulse and Cold Star.
Call Cold Star and force them to block a Medium Cent. Rush. Then do your mixup of choice.
Most of these are fairly straight forward and I don’t use Cart as much as I should so if people have better ones, by all means, share them with us.
Frank:
One of my favorite corner mixups is to cross under the opponent as his coming in and use cr.M’s completely retarded hitbox for a braindead left-right mixup. Guaranteed to induce salt.
Super jump forward and kneedrop. Left-right mixup that for some reason works more than it should.
j.S them as they’re coming in, if they pushblock, do barrel roll and FFC. Do it along with Cold Star for added chance of pushblock (also to be safe if you mess it up).
Something that ApologyMan made me realise is that after you score a kill with Survival Techniques, you can jump 3 times and the opponent will come in by the time you’re coming down from your third jump. I jump forward once, backwards the second time and forward the third to get a better position for my Cold Star. You can really just do anything you like, fake a normal and go for a cross under, super jump kneedrop, guard break, you name it.
Again, if anyone has further tech to share on this, go ahead. I’m not even the best at incoming mixups
Thanks to dougiie-OVRKLL, Sottle, and especially Marvelo. Marvelo’s detailed analysis definitely gave me really good perspective. I think I will keep Hawkeye/Nova/Strider team (character loyalty and all), but I’m definitely going to try out Strange and Ammy. Also, Nova/MODOK/Strider definitely sounds…interesting now. I may give it a shot. I wish I liked Dante more; he is so sexy with Nova.
On a side note, I wish Deadpool had a horizontal assist. I feel he would fill in the Dante niche really well but I don’t see his assists complementing Nova’s game very well.
I admit I’d give Deadpool a more serious look if he had a better assist backing him up.
But it wouldn’t matter if Cyclops was in this game with Optic Blast assist ;_____;
