ex.bb will probably get you 100% on catching backdashes. Meat Squasher will not work on a backdash, but will work for teleports or teleport like moves (probably). Like Vega’s backflip can probably be O/S with meat squasher (i haven’t tried), but it will probably lose to backdash, but that too may be possible since light meat squasher is relatively fast from an option select perspective.
I’m enjoying Hugo - his clap/lariat combo does ridiculous damage. I’m pretty much just Third Striking since he’s my main there, but certain things feel weird or clunky.
EX Clap on hit animates so much faster than 3S it’s hard for me to follow up.
HP -> MP -> LP Clap timing is completely different.
Although I’ve done it, the timing for Ultra Throw follow-ups that aren’t backbreaker feel strange. What clap is used for clap -> BB from ultra throw? My BB frequently misses. I also kind of hate that you have to correct yourself when you hit an Ultra Throw in the corner because they will fall behind you.
Can you reliably use s.HP armor to eat fireballs?
Meatsquasher having different input shortcut rules throws me off.
I’m having fun, though. Obscene damage. Just c.lk -> lp clap -> c.lk -> lk lariat seems to do like 35% on some of the cast.
For UT combos, the easiest follow-up is LP Clap, LK backbreaker. You can use any combination of lights and mediums though, although MK BB might miss on some characters, and MP clap is really tight and might be character specific.
No trick. Just gotta be fast enough. Check your inputs in training. You should see LK, then QCF + K in that order. cr. LK > Lariat is even easier since you’re holding down to start.
I might as well ask: what’s a reliable input command to get consistent Meat Squashers? I feel like it’s an important move in Hugo’s arsenal but I’m scared to use it.
From my understanding, it’s a 270 degree roll starting from D, B, F or U, that includes all the diagonals. So, for example, B, DB, D, DF, F, UF, U, and you can’t any of those seven inputs.
I don’t think it’s a move you can set up. It’s best used when the opponent doesn’t expect it, and can’t react to it fast enough. I only use the EX version because it has armor.
