Windows skinning programs that alter the appearance of windows (although cool) tend to cause problems with the windows graphic user interface in the long run. Many times I’ve had issues with computers failing to boot and problems restoring the original appearance of windows.
This is from my experience while using various skinning programs such as windows blinds, desktop x, widgets, etc on many different computers.

Looking at the desktop icons, namely the jpg’s which appear as thumbnails, is this possible w/skinning? I’ve got the whole osx thing except that minor little difference.

For the people who want to update their winxp shell theme but dont want to mess with programs that bogg down your system like windowsblinds, stylexp etc you can use UXTheme patcher. It patches windows so you will be able to use new 3rd party themes along with the existing windows ones.
I’ve also linked it off my webspace for those too lazy to google it.
