why should i do it because a lot of others are doing it? that’s the stupidest reason in the world to do anything. follow suit? get the fuck out. All of my graphic design and music stuff get done though my PC. Why spend the extra few hundred and run fuse, when I only use windows as it is? that’s stupid, once again. I also think that they look retarded, and the keyboard is a sloppy mess. fuck apple.

Werd. When I was doing web design I never once ended up in a situation where I was like " Man, if only I had a Mac I’d have been able to get this done faster/better/at all than on my pc. " Trendy bullshit is all the Mac is imo.

in all honesty, every time i look at a mac, i just see extra steps. it makes it easier for people that odn’t konw keyboard shortcuts in almost every situation, as everything is more clearly stated and easier to do, but once yo uget used to windows keyboard shortcuts, it’s faster imo. i can’t get through photoshop without being able to maximize my window. why do you have to stretch it? why can’t i just click the + symbol? but no, that’s not how mac works.

dont’ get me wrong… i hate windows too. if i could get my sound stuff to work on linux, i’d be using ubuntu.

I definately agree that Macs are trends more than anything else. Everybody I know that has a Mac always tells me I need to get a Mac because they are so cool. They tell me all the things they can do, which I think to myself, “Yeah I can do that in Windows too.” They never explain how or why it’s better than Windows.

Things I like about Mac are the minor shit, like the whole iLife suit, Final Cut Pro to things like geek tool and spaces.

What dock+theme are you using there?

for programming, mac is soooo much nicer to use than windows. of course linux is a much cheaper, and just as good (if not better in many ways) programming environment. however, there are some really awesome apps exclusive to mac (coda, textmate, transmit) that are a really nice to use, and make the experience worth it to me personally.

as for creative professionals, there may be a few good mac exclusive apps like logic pro and aperture, but nothing that can’t be found in equivalent form on windows. theres no real advantage to using a mac over a pc for design purposes besides the supposed (negligible) performance improvements of running photoshop on os x. easy color profiling on mac using ColorSync is pretty handy for proofing print and web color work… but i think windows vista just added something similar to this.

about keyboard shortcuts - imo theres nothing wrong with keyboard shortcuts on os x. they are intuitive, and there are just as many (if not more) shortcuts as on windows, for anything you can possibly want to do. not to mention you can write scripts for more complex tasks and just map keyboard shortcuts for them pretty easily.

macs primarily appeal to the following groups of people: those who don’t know shit about computers and want something that is advertised to “just work” (not always true as macs have their fair share of problems), fashion whores who want something that just looks trendy, creative professionals who want a machine that is ready for them straight out of the box, and software/web developers who want a streamlined development environment. for the average, proficient computer user/gamer/web surfer, there may not be as many solid reasons to justify paying the premium prices for a mac over a windows machine, only superficial ones.

anyways, heres my current desktop :woot:

this is italy’s florence :stuck_out_tongue:

Vista Theme - SlanXP

Wallpaper - Zilgesque

Dock - Rocketdock

Icons - Carbon Gloss

CDArtDisplay - Aero Glossy (custom layout)

I like the taskbar at the top because I can click the START menu then scroll downward.

I dunno, to me that feels more smoother than scrolling upward. :xeye:

Simply just a preference. Also, I usually don’t view windows in full screen that much, so I don’t have to worry about the close button being too close to the bar.

^That’s a good point actually. I have a bad habit of always viewing things fullscreen, although it’s often not necessary these days with large monitors and high resolutions.

everyone probably has this wall
