Ditto/Smeargle for Pokujin.
Wobuffet for obligatory counter guy.
Charizard playing like Devil Jin (lasers = fire)
Khangaskhan gets Sougenumu
We can get a giant boss like Azrael from Tekken 6
Give me a bird that gets a ton of swoop/dive attacks
Also, many moves could be interesting to adapt (substitute, reflect/barrier, status effects in general, assist)
Well, in Pokemon RPG’s you just dodge attacks hopefully. If its a 3D game maybe theres no blocking and you just have to evade moves? Or a message says when something does little damage “Its not very effective.”
It would be interesting if it had a tag system of say 3 fighters, and it had the pokemon mechanic of type weakness so you would need to switch out to avoid type deficiencies.
That sounds kinda dumb for competitive play though so I hope it wouldn’t work that way.
Except for that one part where arcades are certifiably dead in the states. Furthermore, DnB doesnt even have cabs for the current most played fighters like SF4 or KoF or something. You really think they are gonna shell out the dough have Pokken translated, and then ship it to America? Which btw, the shipping cost of an arcade cab that distance alone is quite high already.
Youre being too negative and not seeing the huge potential here. They could easily make the cabinets here and just send over the game digitally to be put in the machines. Dave N Busters is an arcade, but it just doesnt have fighting game sin it, but this could easily work there. Tons of families eat there, families include kids, kids like pokemon and will play it. Hell young adults like me would play this if they saw it!
A Western Release is going to happen. I have no clue why anyone would think otherwise. You haven’t seen any Pokemon or Tekken games not come out over here outside of the niche of the niche so…why would things suddenly change for this? A Pokemon Fighter has huge mass market appeal.
Without high/low mixups I think the shield will be really easy to break, forcing everyone to go on offense and not rely too much on punishments. And of course, grabs will be a thing.
What if they implement a PP meter for special moves that limits how many you can do in a round? Now that I think more about it, I’m liking the idea. Imagine a round of SF where your opponent can do only one more dp because he hit you with one and you baited 2. After he is out of PP for shoryuken, he’ll have to do non-dp combos and do other reversals/anti-airs. If they are aiming for a casual market then this would also work for them in the sense that you’d have a limited number of projectiles as well.
Isn’t that the sort of thing those people we mock in the scrubquotes thread ask for? I’m not sure we need the mechanical implications of the GB games in this. If anything the anime should be the model.
I think guard break is good enough. In the main games using Protect and Detect turn after turn causes their failure rate to go up, it’s not a long stretch to give us a block meter, even if it is hidden.
Also, we should hope for a console release nonetheless because it means we have to get an official Pokemon arcade stick.
