I think for cast predictions looking at pokemon with mega evolutions is a fairly safe bet since they are pushing megas hard and the mechanic is in the game and 2 characters announced have them obviously also humanoid. So Charizard because of mass appeal somewhat humanoid and has mega, Mewtwo, Kangaskhan gets the nod from me as well especially since Kanga was the companion pokemon to the x&y manga and this is gonna be a japan first game, Medicham for sure, Breloom and i think partly not only because it meets most of the requirements some what humanoid, has a mega evo in the upcoming game, fighting type too, i also think they are going to pay homage to type wild somewhat and have most of that cast in which is perfect since they mostly all have mega evo’s. So nod also goes to Gengar, Gardevoir, Gallade, and Lopunny, other than the obvious hitmonchan/lee sawk/throh duos getting in there’s also Scizor and Hera cross
I’d say all the pokes i just went over have a solid 75% chance in the game
To be honest I kind of find the idea interesting too. Arcsys fighters have already experimented quite a bit with non-replenishable resources on a per-round basis with stuff like Johnny’s coins, Bang’s nails, and Aigis’ bullets. Applying that to DPs might make for an interesting meta.
EDIT: Re-read the post and saw that the mechanic in theory applied to more than DPs. Not entirely sure how I feel about that, but I’m all for trying new stuff and seeing how it works in practice.
Nah, it should be like the tv show and pokemon should be able to use their powers infinitely pretty much. The Pokemon rpg’s did stuff that way because every rpg did.
After watching the trailer a couple of dozen times. A couple of things caught my attention.
Machamp moves, I think:
Cross Chop
Protect
Pound
Shoulder Tackle
Double Lariat
Clothesline/Lariat that gives crumple on hit
Rapid Punches ‘oraoraoraoraora’ (Comet Punch?)
Lucario’s moves:
DIVE KICK
Aerial Kick?
Force Palm
Bone Rush
Aura Sphere
Low sweep kick
Low sweep kick into Baji-Quan Shoulder attack
I wonder if there will only be bipedal Pokémon in this game.
I mean sweeps, jumps, sidesteps, backdashes, knockdowns, hops, counters and so on will definitely be a thing if you watched the trailer.
For example @ 00:37, after what seems to be Chun li’s focus attack (Force Palm) that guard crushes and leaves you positive on block/hit, Lucario does one of his special moves (aerial kick) and manages to avoid Machamp’s knockdown attack. The hitboxes seem accurate at least.
@ 00:41 a twirling sidestep to avoid machamp’s attack.
Most pokémon I chose are bipedal, can learn fighting moves and since it’s confirmed that the game will have variety outside of fighting types, this is my 20 character list:
(The list has small icon images so you’ll need to scroll a bit if you’re prepared to open the spoiler.)
[details=Spoiler]confirmed:
Machamp (fighting)
Lucario (fighting/steel)
Blaziken (fire/fighting)
fighting types:
Hariyama (fighting)
Hitmonlee (fighting)
Hitmonchan (fighting)
El Fuerte Hawlucha (fighting/flying)
Heracross (bug/fighting)
Toxicroak (poison/fighting)
variety types so we can have every type (they can also use fighting moves):
Nidoking/Nidoqueen (Poison)
Golem (stone)
Sceptile (grass)
Snorlax (normal)
Dragonite (dragon/flying)
Mewto (psychic)
Golurk (ground/ghost)
Blastoise (water)
Greninja (water/dark)
Electivire (electric)
Abomasnow (grass/ice)
or Beartic
(idk there aren’t a lot of cool ice pokémon)[/details]
Im getting nervous of this game because of a discussion I had with a PM player friend of mine last night. I dont know if I want to play because theres gonna be a lot of Smash players who will play this and that may end up being a bad thing if they demand patches every month or see the game as too much like a normal fighting game sorta.
The amount of dopeness spilling from this game is off of the damn charts. It’s like a game you and a friend would lightly jest at “A Pokemon fighting game made by a legitimate FG developer how cool would that be dude?”
You smart Nintendo, in fact you a genius. I like dat. Take my money, go buy a house, buy ya whole family a house.
