Nearly all Burst Attacks are actually pretty safe on block I think.
Is Mewtwo’s a grab and that’s why you’re confused? I honestly don’t know since I haven’t unlocked him yet.

Exactly. It’s a grab that comes out in just a frame or two. Burst Attacks may be safe on block in a ‘punish with normals’ sense (outside Garchomp’s), but they’re usually minus enough to allow Mewtwo’s BA to catch them if they’re in range.
So did this game die out? In my local area it seems like the hype is completely gone… like is this game worth the purchase? Cuz I havent played games like splatoon in a very long time
I think it’s dead unless there’s some major nerfage in a balance patch. There are far too many “God Options” in the game… those kinds of attacks that utterly break the game’s triangle system. These are moves that either completely shut down all punish opportunities during startup, during the attack, and end up safe on block. If a move absorbs attacks, breaks counter attacks on hit, AND renders grabs useless (just try doing something other than blocking Chandelure’s Overheat, and then try to punish it on block), it renders it one of those aforementioned “God Option”.
The game also needs adjusted so that characters can’t be godlike zoners AND in-close monsters too. It just seems like some characters have zero weaknesses that matter. Ilike, it makes no difference if you get in on Braixen or Suicune, 'cause they STILL have great moves when you’re in their face.
Sounds like scrub talk to me.
Save the game through nerfs. Major fucking lols.
Let the game grow; it haven’t even been two months yet.
Except it’s fucking truth and you know it. What’s your reward for getting in on Braixen? He just pokes and cancels to broomfly-away, and you’re back trying to get in again. Can’t even punish it because he lands too far away and can block the moment he touches ground. If you try to poke instead, he’s such a little shit that he can just duck under and hit you in the middle of your string to a confirm of his own.
Same shit with Chandelure. You spend all that time and chip trying to get in, and once you do, here comes the herp-derp Overheat that you can’t do shit about. Get pushed back out of punish range, and he doesn’t give any fucks because he can start his ranged horseshit again.
Similarly, you don’t get anything off Machamp’s Body Slam. It’s charge, so trying to Counter Attack it just gets it blown up, it eats normal attacks, plus you need an air-throw to stuff it, something not everyone has. Of course, it recovers SO fast, it’s even safe on WHIFF, not just block.
It’s not just salt if you can actually prove your point.
Braixen can’t cancel into air dash except off of Up Strong attack, and that move is free to counter attacks or just getting stuffed (even if I try to cancel into air dash after you absorb it, I get bopped since the cancel is late into the move). If Braixen is ducking then just hit with a low attack (Counter Attacks should still work, though that might be character dependent).
Chandelure’s Overheat has a lot of start-up and recovery with not a ton of range. Dash out of range and then punish it when the move whiffs. Not to mention that if they go for Overheat, they inflict two negative statuses on themselves; lowered speed and lowered damage. And if they try overheat while in the “burnt out” status, you can beat it with anything and it has even less range and power.
Machamp’s Body Slam (jumping Strong I’m assuming you’re referring to)…just use a counter attack. You absorb the hit and smack him. Or just move out of the way and punish the landing, it doesn’t reach very far. It’s not safe on whiff, it has landing recovery. The fact you think it’s safe on whiff proves that you’re just being scrubby about it and refusing to look at what you can do about it.
You haven’t proven anything except wanting something nerfed instead of learning how to get around it and how to fight the character. You’re just bitching that you can’t do exactly what you want to do and therefore it’s the game’s fault.
It’s all classic scrub-talk.
Yeah, you just TRY hitting with Mewtwo’s Counter Attack against Braixen’s Up-Strong. I’ll wait for your results.
Overheat is still a classic retarded move, and being outside of its hit range means being outside of punish range, because even though he appears to fall on his back afterward, he gets to block a LOT earlier than you think.
And I’m referring to the one where Machamp flips and drops straight down in the classic body splash pose. I’ve tried Counter Attack against it. All that happens is Machamp blows right through, and I eat a stupid massive combo into Close Combat.
Of course, I haven’t even started on good ol’ ‘herp-derp-erma-dergen’ Charizard, who gets to spam idiocy while remaining in the air and essentially unpunishable.
Thank you for furthering my point and making yourself look even scrubbier.
What point? You haven’t said a fucking thing, except sit there and lie about shit.
Also forgot to list that you can just neutral jump the Overheat and punish with jumping strong and get a full combo.
You done now, or do you wish to continue to look stupid?
A week and no response. Guess he realized the error of his ways.
Anywho, saw this on the front page, thought I’d stick it in here. More options for Kawaii Fox are always welcome. :3
Also a few matches I had with @roknin:
The only thing I’ve really learned from this is that Mewtwo’s standard CA is garbage that refuses to hit any opponent that’s not chemically bonded to the floor. Even though it’s baitable, I still think that Overheat is a really stupid move, especially when paired with Espeon or Cresselia to immediately remove the debuffs. I mean, I know Psystrike/Finishing Touch can be annoying, but those don’t pierce CAs. You’d be howling and saying the Mewtwos need nerfed hard if they did, though, and I’d be right with you even though standard Mewtwo’s my main.
Other than that, I’ve been playing the game more and finding some things out, like the fact that Gardevoir folds like a dollar bill once you get in. Well, at least while my console still recognized Wii U discs. Right now, it’s refusing to (while still reading Wii titles), and it’s been relatively worthless as well as keeping me from trying to find something to counter Blazikens that just spam their triplekick without fear of punish.
More Braixen stuff.
I’m sure there’s more you could do but I kinda rushed this so I could have a Pokken vid up today as per my youtube schedule
Decided to hit ranked for the first time.
…still got a lot to learn.
Hey guys, I haven’t been around for the past 3 years, but I’m back Here are a couple of combo vids I made
So, a new bug has been found, this time with Chandelue, and it’s already affecting tournaments… better nerf Mewtwo!
