i didn’t think anyone playing pokemon fighting would understand damage scaling. Uhg, why are people playing this game.
even the developers said this was at its core an action game for pokemon fans. Not a competitive fighter.
–“while Pokken is fighting game, Harada and the rest of the development team didn’t want to run the risk of losing potential fans who might have loved Pokemon, but were intimidated by fighting game mechanics and complexity.”
–“Additionally, he and the rest of his team are attempting to make Pokken Tournament as friendly as possible for newcomers by downplaying some of its fighting game roots in order to not appear intimidating to non-fighting game fans.”
–“People might think that because we’ve worked on games like Tekken and Soul Calibur or because of the name ‘Pokkén,’ that this game is made for established fighting game players, but I’d like to come straight out and say ‘no, it isn’t.’”
There are tons of articles like this.
I guess i am just old and the young kids are getting into fighters now? i just can’t see fighting game vets even wanting to play this game at all with how the developers describe it. and its pokeman, … uhg, i just hate this game, and hate that it’s at evo. This is going to make fighting game players look like jokes… whatever, if pokeman is the new up and coming fighting game people are into, its a sign that im getting too old, ill prolly be retiring from fighters soon lol.
Or you could, I don’t know, play it, and see that it is pretty fun to play and has quite a bit for even a grizzled FG vet to mess around with.
If you don’t like the game, then why are you here? It’s like me going into a CoD thread and telling the people there how much their game sucks-- Accomplishes nothing.
Even in the threads where I’m “shitting” on something, it’s usually because I love the source material or the developers and either remember what they were once capable of, or see the potential of what could/should be.
lol… Who cares what the devs said? You either like the game or you don’t. You’re going to play it, or you’re not. The key word in all of this is you. Go with your gut and make your own decision, and allow others to do the same. Whether you like it or not, the game’s gonna be at Evo. Nothing you can do. Just take your leave. Don’t try to drag other people out with you because you can’t handle going alone.

I just want to remind you guys before i leave what the creators of this game say about it. Namco has been making fighting games for a long time now, im pretty sure they know how to do it, and they know what they are talking about.
so for you to say that they are lying is just hilarious and made it worth stopping in, so it really wasn’t a complete waste of the few minutes it took to type this out.
i wanted to discuss what the developers said about this game. You guys just say they are wrong or they are lying (LOL). This company has been around and making fighting games as long some of you have been alive. They know what they are talking about. I was curious as to why some people in SRK are treating a game that was not made for fighting game fans like it was a real competitive fighter. The developers said this game at it’s core was an “action game for pokemon fans”, pokemon fan’s are mostly young kids who likely could barely comprehend being good at a game like SF or any other traditional fighter.
I know EVO does not have pokken onboard because of how good or deep of a fighting game it is. how do i know? Because the developers said that is not what the game is! (As i quoted to you guys twice) They put the game on the schedule before it was even released i am pretty sure.
I just wanted to have a nice discussion about the developers of the game and what they said about it. - the response i got was pretty funny.
well except what the developers “think” is actually what the game is… They developed it you see, The know it inside and out. The company has been making fighting games for a very long time. So what they say is spot on. Now you may not care that the game is not a game made for fighting game fans, and that its just simple action game for pokeman fans to enjoy. But that does not negate the fact of what the game really is. I’m not saying you should not enjoy the game, im just saying dont act like its a real competitive fighter. I am just pointing out factual information about the game straight from the developers. What they say about it is more important than what anyone else says about it - because they created it, they tested and made it what it is. Many people seem to not realize that this game is not really made to be a competitive fighting game, that it IS just a kids action game where 2 pokemon vs eachother in battle. I just wanted to point out this factual information straight from the developers. It’s fine not to care… okay. But with that ill head on out of the thread. (and i do wish this game was not at EVO, but whatever…)
