Indeed, that assist is really good for interrupting pressure because it’s an aoe. You should try out Electrode’s if you like Fennekin; his damage and knockback is crazy as fuck. Having the “Support” Cheer Type helps a lot too because you’ll have him ready to go at the begging of every round, save the very first one.
Can someone point me to a decent video explaining how attacks and phases work in this game? Interested in picking it up but after watching a review I have no fucking idea what is going on.
That’ll just come with time. It’s like you’re playing different characters between phases. What could help is remembering what your character’s “goal” is in each phase. For example, Pikachu has a lot of zoning tools in Field Phase. He can use them to cover his approach, counter zone, or play keepaway. In Duel Phase, he retains some of those tools, but his main goal changes to up close pressure. Machamp turns into Zangief in Duel Phase. You don’t need the ranged attacks because he wants get close and grab you or pound you into oblivion. The ranged attacks in Field Phase are mainly to allow him to compete with zoners so he’s not completely fucked.
Was about to buy pokken today. It was sold out. And Im hearing that the game has a specific controller similar to the gamecube controller and smash4. That was a turn off for me to buying it. I guess I gotta get a pro controller first, assuming its compatible
You can use the Gamepad just fine with this game… Just like Smash doesn’t NEED the Gamecube controller, this game doesn’t NEED the special Pokken controller.
I didn’t know any of this existed lol. I thought Pikachu’s did something because of the visual effects, but ruled it out after seeing Blaziken’s lack of visual effects. Thought it was just aesthetic.
