Pokemon X and Y: Aftermath (GEN 6 Discussion, Tier Talk, Breeding, Meganite)

so that’s what STAB means… gonna mosey my newb ass on over to Smogon now…lol j/k. Damn the more you know about competitive aspect of a game. I use to think people who played SF4 just threw around words like frame data and frame traps just to sound like they knew what they were talking about lol.

Well I’m going to sleep soon so any other random things you need before my big posts tomorrow and moving on with the teams?

Thanks man I’ve been watching tournament videos and I’m starting to get the gist of how this all works. I watched a vid that showed attack formations and something called the light orb and the recommended attacks…from what I see this guy hits HARD so I can understand the penalty on recoil. Although ill admit I still want dat high defense too lol.

Anyways I appreciate the help yo and I look forward to that post.

Quick post before I go to bed.

The item you’re referring to is the Life Orb. Slightly complicated Hold Item but simple in nature.

Every attack will zap 1/10th of your Max HP however all your attacks will get a 1.3x Attack Bonus (on top of any potential STAB Bonus). Makes it hit even harder, and because of Regenerator, easy to get its health back.

Maybe transform to the last 3-5 pokemon he saw?

Ooh Mienshao is pretty fun. His speed is pretty high, but not high enough to avoid getting revenge killed by common stuff. Between High Jump Kick, U-turn, HP Ice, and Stone Edge, Mienshao can KO pretty much everything not named Jellicent with good prediction. He’s really good at forcing switches when you bring him in, but he can’t really switch in on anything and the base 105 speed leaves you vulnerable to common stuff like Terrakion, Keldeo, Gengar, Lati@s, Starmie, and Alakazam.

TTar and Scizor are a pretty good partners for Mienshao as they can trap check a lot of the Pokemon I mentioned. Landorus T is probably THE best Terrakion check in the game, and he works pretty well with Mienshao too.

Speaking of Scizor and Landorus T, a popular and strong strategy is to use a slow, bulky U-Turner like Scizor or Landorus T to bring in glass cannons like Mienshao. It racks up a ton of damage on the opponent if you can keep hazards up due to all the switches.

I used to use Mienshao a lot before Tornadus T came out. They played quite similarly IMO, but Tornadus T did the job better. I might just start using Mienshao again since Tornadus T got banned.

You guys should hop on Pokemon Showdown and use the spectator mode to see what kinds of pokemon are common and what people use to check them. When you’re ready, build a team of your own and start battling so you can see for yourself what works and what doesn’t. Unlike fighting games, if you get sick of seeing the top tier stuff, you can play in a lower tier with weaker pokemon. Each tier has its own stars, but you can probably find a tier where your favorites are viable (unless your favorite is Flareon: Flareon sucks).

We might as well go ahead and start up a small battle league here. The timing is perfect with people getting interested in X and Y.

Also Pokebeach released some new rumors.

[details=Spoiler]Trusk is a Grass/Rock boar Pokemon with long green tusks coming out of its mouth. He is gruff, has grey skin, and features green leaf-like ears. It has an “adorable” pre-evolution with tiny tusks and a leaf at the end of its tail.

A Normal/Poison porcupine Pokemon named Quillom can be found quite early in the game in the forest. It has white skin with light purple quills. He has a Poison-type quill attack which damages and has a high chance of poison.

A Ghost-type spider Pokemon is found in caves. It is dark gray with blue spots and multiple light grey eyes. It has a feint light blue mist around its abdomen. The source doesn’t remember the spelling of its name, but says it was something like “Apparachnid.” He thinks it may have an evolution.

There is a Ground-type badger Pokemon that is dark brown with black stripes going up its face. It knows Slash and a new biting move.

Reconfirmation that Froakie’s final evolution is Water/Fighting. It looks similar to a poison dart frog. The dark blue now takes over its body almost entirely. There are a few even darker (almost black) spots on his sides and face and it gains more of the bubble foam around its neck and down the back. It’s also a bit bulkier. It uses its hind legs a lot and has kicking attacks.

Bunnelby evolves into a Ground/Dark type rabbit that is larger and much rounder. Its color scheme is reversed, with the dark brown now being the prominent color. It can be found in caves. It is useful because you can get it early in the game and use it to evolve Pancham into Pangoro.

Helioptile has an evolution. It is bipedal with a second yellow triangle on its face. Its ears become more jagged and it looks meaner. On its back are what look like spikes with jagged parts at the very top. It can learn a new attack called Thunder Roll, where it rolls up like a wheel and strikes the opponent.

Reconfirmation that Meowstic has a pre-evolution named Espurr. There is no gender differentiation until it evolves. It is mostly white, similar to the female version, with cuter eyes and a single puffy tail. It has a little patch of fur under its head (similar to its evolutions). The fur is dark blueish with little tufts of white in it.

Other Pokemon that are now Fairy-type: the Chansey evolution line, Dunsparce, the Clefairy line, and Togepi’s line.

Fairy Dust is a new move that will randomly cause either Paralysis, Poison, Sleep, or Burn.

Like Magneton, Wailmer is part of one of the Super Training Facility games.

Team Flare makes an appearance right at the beginning of the game. On the TV in your house, one of its members talks about fashion and how your Pokemon should match your style. Team Flare’s signature music has an eerie accordion sound to it in the opening sequence.

The outfit your character wears at the start is colored to match what you’ve set as your favorite color in your 3DS settings. It can be changed easily though.

The opening cinematic is in 3D. (Have to mention this since most of the game isn’t in stereoscopic 3D. :p) It starts off with Yveltal’s cry, which wakes you up. You sit up in your bed. It then pans and there is a shot of your city. Yveltal’s shadow goes over it. After that there is some other shots of your town. You seem amazed that you saw Yveltal. It then shows generic in-game shots like you entering a forest with your friends, selecting your starter, running through a cave, etc. After that it shows Sycamore welcoming you. You are standing outside of his lab at the time, then he takes you inside. It then shows him showing you three Poke Balls which leads into a transformation video where it shows all three Kanto starters evolving to their final forms, and then the three of them Mega Evolving. It’s a really cool cinematic. The video ends with Yveltal flying with the sun behind him, leading in to the title screen. Team Flare is also shown at some point in the sequence.

On the title screen you can use the analog joystick on your 3DS to change the angle at which you see Xerneas/Yveltal.

Cue the salt.

That it? Yes I am salty but then again it is Gamefreak…

Freakin’ Weezing/Magneton Syndrome… Again.

Fuck all y’all… Magneton is a G.
It’s funny, everyone always bitches about Pokemon evolutions being to overcomplicated now, and whenever they do a throwback style evolution, people bitch.

Oh well, Ghost/Steel typing, three immunities, 4x resist to Bug, eight resistances, and four weaknesses… Sounds good to me. Just have to see what the stat spread looks like.

Gah. I wanted a ghost samurai/knight… oh wellz…

Normal/Poison is a decent typing, and the Ground/Dark badger sounds like it might be a good mid-tier poke. I can’t wait to see these critters.

This means I’m one evo away from being able to nickname Honedge Zoro!

The lazy Pokemon designs won’t stop will they?

Although I don’t “hate” Doublade’s design.

Four weaknesses actually: Fire, Ground, Dark, and Ghost. Unless it can get the ability levitate, of course, which would bump it up to 4 immunities and 3 weaknesses.

“It goes from ONE mole to THREE moles… How boring.”/Vergil
I knew when that thing came across my feed that people were gonna be disappointed. Wasn’t made any better when Nintendo announced they were showing an all-new, never-before-seen, evolved Pokemon… got everyone’s imagination cooking and sowing the seeds for a backlash…

EDIT: Thanks, William. I always forget about Fire… probably because no one uses Fire types outside of Volcarona/Heatran because of the damned rocks

You like the Gen that gave us Luvdisc. Shaddup.

You mean Alomomola’s pre-evo that GameFreak forgot to finish the code for? Smh.

Hoenn babbyz pls go. Lol
