Only miltank got me. The onky gym leader that had me against the ropes after was your dad in Gen 3. I had like 4hp left and won with everybody else fainted.
Gen 1: In the first games, Sabrina. Snorlax is pretty much your best bet. Same with FireRed and LeafGreen but Snorlax can take Psychics better thanks to more Sp. Def. Jynx also helped a bit for putting things to sleep and doing good damage with Ice Punch.
Gen 2: In the old games, the Miltank is very annoying. In HeartGold and Soul Silver, just Headbutt trees for a Heracross and wreck the whole gym with Brick Break.
Gen 3: The freaking twins. Spamming Muddy Water with Swampert was just about my only real plan.
Gen 4 and 5 were free.
Here’s a question, how to make Gyms difficult again if you’re not overleveled. And I don’t mean that fake, bullshit Gen 1 difficulty.
More Double Battle Gyms! Some of the most challenging single player battles I’ve ever had were in Colosseum and XD especially simply because of the way Double Battles work.
Making sure your team is at comparable levels and have moves that work with each other*(watch out spamming that Earthquake or Surf if you’re partner doesn’t resist/immune)* up against CPU teams designed to work together was cool.
That, and Gym Leaders need to have team synergy… I’ve seen plenty of mono-type teams that have great synergy despite sharing the same weaknesses*(dual-types and abilities help here too)*
Giving them a full team of 6 Pokemon is nice start.
Hmm…we should create a Gym Leader roster. Rules in place…
Have to have a Main Poke, Evolved somewhat (or a Poke with no Evo Tree).
All must share one signature move that share the same type and isn’t an HM/standard (no everyone sharing Surf or Ice Beam).
All your pokes (with a possibility of a 1 Poke exception) must share a type. They still must all be able to have the above move without cheating, we ain’t having Lances roaming around.
Anything else? As you can tell, I’m really bored today.
Stadium 1 & 2 was a really fun game. Being able to grind for pokemon that you couldn’t get on your version and the battles were pretty tough. I remember back when there would be official tournaments at the malls, got a mew from one of those events… this was back in the rby days btw lol.
Stadium was a pain in the ass if you didn’t have the GB games along with it. The Rental Pokes movesets were terrible.
If you had RBY and a decent team you were set though.
Any other news about sky battles? Sure it’s as cut and dry as it sounds but no added perks?

Fire types were already immune to Burn IIRC…
Meowstic and Furfrou*(great name, BTW)* are being slept on. Love their designs and Furfrou depending on stats could be a physically defensive beast. Halving physical damage with access to that new move Baby Doll Eyes(lol)-Priority Fairy attack that has a chance to lower Attack? Yeah.

No way. You’ll be fine. The games are played by kids worldwide. Each Pokemon game eases new players into the system step by step.
By the time you beat the game you should have a solid enough grasp of how the game plays and how the types and moves interact.
Yeah, if anything, you were screwed if you started in Gen 1 thanks to glitches, Sabrina, Charmander being the favored starter poke when the first Gym is Brock, and not knowing that after the Elite Four…you weren’t done.

Learns Psycho Cut… Uses a wand… Yea, definitely Fire/Psychic. Doesn’t look like the others are going to be part Dark/Fighting, though.
