Also I’m reading that the Pokeamie features may give your Pokemon auto-endure.
On top of that, Evasion-boosting(Double Team/Minimize/Bright Powder) is fair game in Ubers-- Saw this thread on GameFaqs(I know, lol) http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/696959-pokemon-x/67062313
Some guy was crying because his Ubers got owned by a standard Baton Pass team. Dude was a moron who spent like ten turns trying to Roar an opponent who had used Ingrain, lmao He lost his Dialga(his only phazer) to a damn Swellow w/Aerial Ace and had multiple chances to stop the BP chain but failed. He deserved to lose, and every moment of it was hilarious.
It’s almost enough to get me back into battling to do some trolling… Maybe if OHKOs get freed and Ubers becomes truly the Wild West of battling, I might…
Some stuff I’m picking up from the demos…
Grass, fairy, normal, and psychic types do not resist fairy attacks. It’s normal damage.
Fairy takes normal damage from normal, fire, water, grass, rock, ground, and electric attacks.
They purposely didn’t have any dragon moves available. Suspicious…
Also a Pokeamie bond gives your mon a chance to heal from paralysis in battle.
Following up your post, Bious, it looks like Pokemon-amie will allow your mon an increased chance of evading an attack, enduring an attack that would faint, as well as allowing for increased critical rate and chances to cure itself of status like Paralysis… Very interesting. Especially if this carries over to Wi-fi Battles(Which judging by the way they’re pushing it, it probably will)
If my theory about having a strong bond being a requirement for Mega Evolution turns out to be correct, the competitive scene i.e. Smogon is gonna lose their shit.
They’re taking the Ash Ketchum “Heart of the Cards” route with this thing. BRB going to go collect those delicious Smogon tears…
EDIT: Nothing’s been confirmed by GF, and these fools are already preparing to “quit Pokemon forever” lol…
I kinda hope that it doesn’t carry over to Wi-fi battles. Or you at least have an option. As awesome as this Pokemon-amie feature sounds, I’d rather the battles not be up to random chance more than they already are when fighting other players. Being a requirement for Mega Evolution is fine though imo.
That being said, I look forward to bonding with my Lucario and helping it to become even more of a fighting beast. :3
As for the Smogon tears…weren’t they already going bonkers over the whole Fairies beating Dragons thing?
Smogon was calling fairy type non-needed, overpowered, and, my favorite, “Should’ve been light type” when they were announced.
They’re just mad their [insert Dragon-type here]x[Choice Scarf/Specs]x[Draco Meteor] tactic isn’t going to work as well anymore.
Hopefully, this’ll bring a little more variety to the Metagame. I hate watching battles when at least 3 of the same Pokemon are on both teams.
I thought they wanted my money.
Lol at ohko moves in ubers! might as well play with nukes! All I know is whatever pisses off Smogon makes me smile.
I stick by my claim the only thing they needed to do to bring back down dragon types was to remove ice’s weakness to rock.
And Ice Types still aren’t going to be standing coming in on most huge Dragon Type moves so again, in terms of relation to Dragon types it wouldn’t be as relevant.
If you want an Ice type that combat Dragons, you need to give them the stats and movepools to compete with them. Not to mention the crippling they take from Stealth Rock on the switch-in.
Fuck a Fairy type-- If GameFreak is serious about knocking Dragons down a peg, they need to bite the bullet and make an Ice/Steel type with high Def/Sp. Def(for resisting the go-to Dragon attacks Outrage/Draco Meteor) and decent attacking stats and an Ice/Fighting type(again, need stats on par with Dragons) to mitigate the stupid rocks I’d ask for Magic Guard as an ability, but didn’t want to come off greedy.
If either of those happens alongside the Fairy type this gen, then Ice might become a respectable type on its own rather than having its attacks co-opted by better types. A reworking of Ice’s relationships on the type charts would help(a simple resist to Dragon would do wonders), but I’m not expecting GameFreak to understand nor be willing to do so since they’ve gone as far as making a whole new type to deal with the imbalances caused by overpowered Dragon types.
Sylveon took a full on Rain Boosted Hydro Pump from Politoed and got Critical’d and only lost half health. Sylveon alone will be fine. Chances are, they’ll be another tank type.
But again, the only right thing to do would be to restart the Type Chart from scratch and even potentially remove certain moves like Draco Meteor from existence.
Maybe make it so there can be NO move over 100 Power that doesn’t lose severe accuracy for doing so. Or better yet, make it so none exist period.
Or we can start using Chansey and Steel types.
Everyone already uses Scizor, as he’s the best.
Salamence, Flygon, Altaria, Garchomp and Dragonite are all 4x weak to ice. Lots and lots of ice types have enough tankiness that they could switch in on dragons.
Even if they could, they’d have one shot. That’s it, because they aren’t switching again. And most likely the Dragons if they don’t feel they could outspeed would switch out anyway. And there’s very little chance of said Ice Type taking another shot from a Dragon short of having Recover or Regenerator.
It doesn’t hurt Dragons much if at all. If anything, the issue would lie more with Stealth Rock than dealing with Dragon Types and honestly that IS a more important issue.
But again, the only real way to fix the game is to redo the Type Chart from scratch.
Yeah the problem isn’t really with the Ice types themselves, but all the bs they have to deal with in order to even take on a Dragon… Between Stealth Rock stripping off 25% on the switch, Dragon types’ notoriously huge movepools(including access to some of the most powerful attacks on both sides of the spectrum),and high Base Stat totals, Ice is a beleaguered type.
Having one hard counter Ice pokemon wouldn’t solve anything and would be centralizing even if it did. The main issue is that Ice types suck, if GF spent more time improving the whole type instead of creating another type just to deal with Dragons it would’ve been much better.
At least they’re recognizing the error of their ways somewhat. I never understood their hard on for Dragons.
