Pokemon X and Y: Aftermath (GEN 6 Discussion, Tier Talk, Breeding, Meganite)

The last time Pokemon was hard was Gen 1 and most of that was self inflicted.

I semi retired out of force after Gen IV since I had to sell off my old DS…sad times were then but come Gen VI I’ll be back!

man I miss the competitive battles here, shit was popping hard early G4.

if a scene builds here for G6, I’ll throw down lol.

It should. MegaEvos and Fairy-type should be very interesting wrenches into the scene.

I was hoping for a Mega Gengar, that mon used to be one of my favs back in Gens 1 and 2. Mega forms for Heracross and Scizor is just common sense, I mean Japan loves bugs and as an artist who wouldn’t want to attempt to make a more badass versions of either those?

I assume with a potential Mega Tyranitar they are probably trying to see if they can make the design closer to something out of Godzilla or at least that is what I’d do.

Genwunners should be happy. Expansion pack love.

We need MegaLapras, MegaArcanine, and MegaDragonite

Smogon will never have the heart of the cards.

Smogon had legitimacy and respect in the first place???

They just won’t have hearts period.

Once again, I trust these rumors because these mills have proved time and time again to be very accurate.

OH SNAP!

“HERE’S MY SUNDAY BEST, SIGNAL BEAM CANNON!”

But the real sleeping monster we should be looking out for is MegaMedicham, Pure Power was already devastating enough, what’s next? God Boost trait? Attack doubles every turn?

MegaPinsir is a dream come true. Please be Bug/Ground.

MegaHoundoom would be badass as a Cerebus and MegaCharizard sounds sexy as hell.

But the real question is, did MegaJynx go on that Insanity workout plan?

Straight Kingdom Hearts status.

Cue the R34.

MegaMedicham, all Hi Jump Kicks become OHKO on every Pokemon that doesn’t resist Fighting. But a whiffed HJK will OHKO itself automatically.

Other than being assholes, I’m quite curious behind the reason to which Landours was banned. I don’t remember Sand Force being all that game changing, and 101 base speed is pretty average in the meta now. You wouldn’t run Rock Polish on a choice variant and everything has ice beam to counter it. It’s nowhere near as good without SS backing it up, and rain teams are the most common nowadays.

I really hate when they just throw shit into ubers and it’s like why play Guy A when I can play Guy B.

Pretty sure landy got banned for the Sheer force sets, not the sand force.

I’m tempted to buy a 3ds a XY. My decision will be based on whether they allow transfers from past generations. Apparently the RNG in BW is exploitable, so obtaining pokemon with near perfect IV spreads is trivial. I’ll probably end up buying them even if they don’t allow transfers, though since I imagine it’ll be a while before an XY battle simulator comes out and I’ll need something new to play when I get back to my dorm.

I’m concerned about the lack of good walls on that list of mega pokemon. Also, MegaTyranitar does not need to exist I’m fucking sick of ttar lol. He’s been OU since gen 2 when he was released and he gets buffed in one way or another every single generation.

His sheer force life orb special attack was good, but nowhere near uber good tbh, everybody runs hidden power ice or ice beam…

And it sucks against priority attacks, Latios and Latias are faster and can revenge kill him very easily and Latias even gets a free calm mind on him… there are so many counters in the OU metagame against Landorus its ridiculous, maybe these new mechanics in Gen VI should shake shit up a bit…

I am guessing the mega evolve is caused by a hold item? or is it confirmed to be permanent?

I imagine Landy can just play around lati@s with U-turn, or set up a late game sweep with rock polish. Not that Lati@s is difficult to remove with TTar, anyways.

From what I’ve skimmed in thethread the arguments are similar to the ones used for Tornadus T. It has no counters, just checks that are easily eliminated or worn down to KO range.

^Ummm Blissey tho?!

 Just stick one of those in front of Landorus… there are too many counters in the OU metagame as is…

Water pokemon also wreck Landorus especially the Bulky ones(that USUALLY have ice beam), and rain teams are popular…

Landorus is utter trash in Ubers…

Landorus’ physical set is underwhelming and it’s niche is better filled by Gliscor, there is literally no reason to use his physical set because you can burn him with wil-o-wisp and Terrakion has a quick substitute plus stealth rock resistance and rock polish…

@Bulldancer Focus Blast 2HKO’s Blissey and Chansey without SpD investment, while Earth Power is an easy OHKO or 2HKO on most water types that can get hit by it. Blissey, Chansey, and bulky waters are setup bait anyways, or at least they were when I still played. I doubt this has changed.

A pokemon’s viability is ubers means nothing, as ubers is just the ban list from OU.

The physical set was pretty darn good, actually. Not getting OHKO’d by bullet punch and mach punch is nice, as is the immunity to thunder wave.

Focus Blast is incredibly inaccurate though, no match outcome should be decided on that. It’s also notably interesting that many lower tiers theoretically counter him, such as Cressy.

Sheer Force seems like such a waste on Landours because he gets so much more with Sand Force. It will boost his main stab that being in EQ, and he also gets a buffed Stone Edge to boot. Sandstorm, while not being as common as Rain, is still pretty easy to setup.
