I’d send Heracross because by God he can do everything. Have him german suplex them to death like Benoit.
“SCYYYTHAAAA!” scythe gleams
@Mancub- Now I can’t get thoughts of Heracross German suplexing fools like Bugzzy from the Kirby series…
I knew Nintendo was gonna eliminate that dude that was “leaking” shit. (Leaking in quotes because a few English names and a move are not major leaks… Fairy-type is a big leak, but everyone and their mother was talking about that)
More info probably would have come out if the dude that runs Pokebeach forums wasn’t a complete moron and attention whore.
Oh well. Masuda’s supposed to drop by the Pokemon Smash variety hour later today, so we might finally get some damned confirmation on the typings of the previously revealed mons
With the introduction of Fairy-Type, I think we are going to start seeing Choice Specs Mew…
This metagame is going to be so complicated lol…
More rumors.
Spoiler
Pancham evolves into Pangoro in the early level 30s. In order to evolve Pancham into Pangoro, you need to have one other Dark-type Pokemon in your party. Pangoro’s type is Fighting/Dark.
A Pokemon named Inkay evolves into Malimar. To evolve it, you have to hold your 3DS upside-down when it levels up (the 3DS has an accelerometer and gyroscope, so it can detect that). Malimar’s type is Dark/Psychic.
A Psychic-type Pokemon named Espurr (ESP + purr) evolves into Meowstick (Meow + mystic?). (Sounds like Psychic-type cats. Meowstick’s name sounds too similar to Meowth to me though.)
Like in B/W you have two rivals - one is friendly and the other is competitive. Your rival that is more friendly gives you his/her fully evolved starter Pokemon after you beat the game.
Another professor named Sycamore gives you either Bulbasaur, Charmander, or Squirtle.
Even though it shows the player riding on a Gogoat in the new trailer, players can’t ride on their own Pokemon. What was shown is just an alternate way of getting around Lumiose City and it only works with Gogoat.
HMs still exist but there’s a lot less of them.
Players will be able to see their Pokemon’s EVs (probably through the same in-game facility mentioned in the other post).
A new move, Belch, is a Poison-type attack that has a base power of 120. The user must consume a held Berry to perform it.
Draining Kiss is a Fairy-type attack that heals the user for the same amount of damage performed. It has a base power of 60.
If the previously revealed forme of Mewtwo can be said to look roughly similar to Mewtwo’s original design, the second supposed form of Mewtwo can be said to look roughly/vaguely similar to Mew’s design.
In case you missed our correction the other day, the Starters’ final evolutions are Fire/Psychic, Grass/Dark, and Water/Fighting.
This is apparently from the same leaker that got visited by the Pokemon Ninjasks. Consider these his last words.
Hah! I’m so glad that the typings for the starters were mixed up! Like I mentioned before the old list was overkill.
We’ve been wondering what old Pokes will be Fairy types we haven’t touched upon what old moves might end up becoming Fairy type:
-Wish
-Healing Wish
-Heart Swap
-Lunar Dance
-Doom Desire
-Helping Hand
-Moonlight
-Present
-Mirror Coat
-Metronome
-Swift
Yeah it’s probably going to be mostly support moves, which is logical. A Mirror Coat without an immunity would be kind of annoying…
Smogon is fucktarded at times, maybe that’s the reason I don’t use them for movesets most of the time…
Instead of using Mr. Mime as a screen pokemon(he has one of the highest sp.def in the game(I think he like #16), has decent base speed(with a timid nature, he outruns lots of Pokemon), and his horrendous health can be boosted through the use of EVs…
I use a light clay, screen set and it effectively walls teams… I’ll put him out against a heatran and setup double screens…
Smogon only seems to know how to make offensive teams, Nasty Plot Mr. Mime? What in the literal fuck lol…
I’m on that Po Pimpus and White Shadow steez, I make my own movesets and squash net move ass Smogonites…
Fuck Smogon.
Now, now guys… as much as I shit on Smogon, they do serve one purpose-- Allowing me to instantly identify and counter just about any OU Pokemon, because 97% of the people using them just copy/paste the Smogon movesets, lol.
I’m getting a little annoyed with all this leaking bullshit… I just want Game Freak to come out and confirm Fairy-type, Xerneas/Yveltal/Newtwo/Sylveon typings and I can go back to ignoring the Pokemon internet fandom until October…
Yeah back in the day (RSE) mine was Psychic/ Reflect/ Calm Mind/ Baton Pass, dat Soundproof Trait son! FUCK YOU ROAR!
My problem is smogon confuses common sense moveset efficiency with ingenuity. Anyone with half a brain can put a STAB move, 2 support moves, and a stat raising move on a Pokemon and call it a moveset. True ingenuity is making them actually synergize with your team in ways that aren’t linear so your opponent will fumble, second-guessing your every move. Make that guy’s Swampert expecting a EQ from your Metagross say “OSHI!” when he gets hit with an Expert Belt Grass Knot up the anus. “But what about Explosion?” It’s standard because it takes out blah blah blah…" That’s why you have a T-E-A-M, to cover diverse threats, doesn’t mean you have to go about it in an A=B=C way.
tl;dr - Fuck Smogon.
It kind of sucks being a generation behind and using old metagame analogies, but alas…
Smogon is too cookie cutter with their setups and god forbid if you come up with anything new and fresh as it will be tagged as a gimmick. Oh but say if a MOD made your moveset then it’s GENIUS! Fuck those elitist nuthugging bastards. Circle jerking is their only super effective move.
Lol, I was just about to mention that fact…
Yeah, so I entered that Wi-Fi Friendly Nintendo is currently hosting in the current gen games, and I really like this format.
Rather than the typical doubles format they use for their National and World’s tournaments, the rules were 3vs3 Singles, B2W2 Unova Dex Pokemon only(the new games expanded the original Unova Dex to allow some classic favorites like Heracross and Metagross in) all set to level 30, INCLUDING ANY LEGENDARIES in said Dex, so Kyurem(and its Black/White fusions), Keldeo, Meloetta, and Genesect are all fair game.
Needless to say, I’ve been having a blast, and not having to worry about stupid shit like Weather, Latis, or Cresselia has been extremely refreshing… Through said tournament, I have renewed my faith in the mighty beetle that is Heracross and my cheesy-ass Flame Charge/Calm Mind Chandelure is quickly becoming one of favorite trolls to pull on people expecting a standard Scarf or Sub set.
I really hope they do more tournies like this as a respite from the typical boring affairs these tournaments usually turn out to be…
I just want my official 6 vs 6 one on one official nintendo tourneys back. Right now and for years they’ve had the shit rigged to “gotta go fast” for every one. I will NEVER enter a doubles tourney because of all that nintendo rules bs. I liked what was said earlier about the 6 vs 6 one on one thing too.
Finally got 10,000 dream points and getting dream world vulpix, poliwag, abra, eevee, etc.
Dammit I want a contrary Snivy already…
We should do a list of unusual ideas for movesets…
This thread doesn’t talk strategy often lol…
I got an idea for a Baton Passer since I’ve always wanted to make that type of team viable again…
Combusken(Eviolite, 252 HP 252 Speed, Jolly)- Speed Boost ability
Baton Pass
Flare Blitz
Swords Dance
Protect
Eviolite allows Combusken to eat a strong hit(theoretically) and swords dance and sweep…
I’ll have to test it though lol…
EDIT: If it does, I can run Choice Band Cloyster
So the Speed Boost variant isn’t banned anymore?
Oh and my old Metagross set (one of them anyways):
Metagross w/ Expert Belt
Meteor Mash
EQ
Thunderpunch
Grass Knot
Even with only 202 Sp.Attack after some EV investment Grass Knot with Expert Belt did ridiculous damage to unsuspecting Swamperts, Gastrodons, Rhyperiors and Slowbros. Then opponents get randomed out when I pack Thunderpunch for those inversely defensed.
Just found out that you can’t get Baton Pass on Combusken because it’s an egg move and speed boost is a dream world ability…
I run all types of eviolite pokemon though… Eviolite has stimulated them creative juices lol…
Dragonair(female)(252 HP 252 Def w/eviolite) Bold Shed Skin
Thunderwave
Rest
Attract
Dragon Tail
This Pokemon is capable of paralyzing an entire team… and it only has a 2x weakness to 2 things because it’s pure dragon…
This is my choice pokemon for parahaxing over most things I’d ever run…
The attract is gimmicky, but it works because the default gender on battle simulators is male… but the thunderwave and ability to wake up early from rest(shed skin) is the main attraction of this set…
Machoke(252 HP 252 Atk w/Eviolite) Adamant No Guard
Dynamicpunch
Thunderpunch
Payback
Rock Slide
This thing can eat a super effective hit from anything… nigga I ate a Psychic from an Alakazam(he was choice scarfed and not spec’d tho apparently) and killed him with Payback, I was like
I still haven’t claimed my Deoxys from the mailman.
What nature and setup do you guys prefer?
I generally follow smogon’s EV spread sets, which are appealing enough.
Here’s one of mine from DDP
Machamp@Guts w/Poison or Flame Orb
Protect
Close Combat
Ice Punch
Thunderpunch/Payback/Stone Edge
Max spread for Atk of course, then beef up Spd D. Might be a good idea to invest some EVs Def to balance it all out.
Guts Machamp is always slept-on. This set allows him to be a walking choice band with plenty of moves, CC and IP has terrific coverage.
The last move can be for whatever annoys you the most. Thunderpunch takes care of Gyarados/bulky waters, Stone Edge clips flyers, Payback for pesky ghost and psychic at 100 base power.
For Deoxys? It depends mostly on what forme(Attack, Speed, Defense, or lol Normal), but I like to hit things hard, so I tend to go with Modest in Attack Forme with a 252/252/6 spread in Sp. Att, Speed, and HP respectively.
