Poison combo thread

Yeah, I meant MK, sorry. Don’t know why I had punches in my head when I wrote that post.

Do you have to know combos to be considered good with Poison?

Well she’s a zone first character. So for example, throwing out a hp fireball shield and cr.hp xx hp fireball’ing someone who jumps in over the hp fireball or juggling that after they jumped on it is pretty good damage. 70 off the first fireball, 100 off the cr.hp and like 15 chip I think off the blocked follow up hp fireball.

Also just chipping away in a fireball war where we gain meter well to land some ex fbs for 50-100 dmg.

When you are up close using lights you want to hit the St.mk after a cr.lp or a cr.hp after a St.lk. those are probably your go to combos off lights. For punish combos (whiffed dp etc), I like to do a cl.hk canceled into rekkas or ex rekkas> hp rekkas for the corner carry. If I can land a focus or j.hk first and I have a bar then I’ll do cl.hp xx ex lmt for 360 dmg and a hard knockdown + follow up set up options.

If you have a situation where you can land a character specific combo then go for that. The stuff that’s been found is very damaging. For example on a cornered fei long you can do j.hk, cl.hk xx lp fb, cr.hp xx hk dp
420 damage, 700 stun/ meterless

Here’s a list of characters Cl. hk (1-hit) xx mp AE > cr. lp xx lp/ex WoL works on at midscreen.

Makoto, Dudley, Gouken, Yun/Yang, Chun, Dhalsim, Abel, Sagat, Cammy, Dee Jay, Cody*, Guy, Hakan, Guile, Blanka*, Rufus, El Fuerte, Vega/Claw, Rose*, Hugo.

*These characters it was so spacing dependent even having them walking at you when doing it could make it not work.

Realistically not the most worthwhile combo, gets you 22 more damage and 20 less stun than plain cl. hk xx mk KBG for a 1f jab link. But it is hit confirmable off a safe blockstring, so I guess it could be useful to know.

I think you absolutely need to know them, but I would say keep it safe if you’re not feeling confident. For example, after an overhead, if you don’t feel confident doing Cr. LP, St. MK, just do Cr. LP xx Rekkas. I think keeping up the momentum is more important than max damage.

As mentioned by Tali neutral game is the most important thing anyway.

It should be mentioned that since overhead -> c.lp is harder to link than c.lp -> s.mk, it can be safer to include the s.mk because if you miss your first link, you’d rather stop at the s.mk than at the first rekka. You can still cancel into something safer like AE or LMT.

But you are still absolutely correct - getting the combo and hard knockdown off an overhead is incredibly valuable, the extra few damage that s.mk would have brought you is not very important in comparison.

When done from the max range, overhead can link into cr.HP, which at that range will make crouching opponents get hit late by the second hit of EX AE.

f. MP, cr. HP > EX AE, cr.MK > MK WoL (370/475)

The max range of f.MP just happens to be about the same range you get pushed back to when poking a cornered opponent with cr.MK into AE. I came up with this combo last night and already landed it in ranked. It’s super viable.

yes, you can also set up the delayed ex AE with a f.mp (point blank), cr.lp, st.lk, cr.hp xx ex ae which works on most characters, ive got to test it thoroughly on everyone but its works on most crouchers, ive only noticed so far that fei long crouching only gives you +2 after the f.mp so you can’t link the jab after.

I’m new to Poison but I saw that her EX Rekka into Ultra 1 is character specific. I was messing around in training and was able to land it on Guile and Fei Long. Haven’t tried the others. Sorry if this is old news or if someone has already found it out, I don’t frequent the forums.

Welcome to the Poison forums.

Yes, she could do this in SFxT as well.

I don’t think it’s character specific, it’s worked on absolutely everyone I’ve tried. Corner or midscreen, doesn’t matter.

Doesn’t work on Honda or Cody iirc.

A short combo video. I haven’t seen any of these anywhere else so I decided to make a video. Also, since I posted this, I found out frame smoothing was the reason some of these combos were possible. Now, I want to make a whole combo video with just frame smoothing combos. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M0MhoBSn4ug

Rofl frame smoothing allows all kinds of ridiculous stuff. I have no idea why they never took that option out, as it totally breaks the game.

i think it still drops on e.honda and one more person mid screen

Yo I found a pretty easy combo that’s a super easy hit confirm, I dunno if it’s bad though

cr.lk-st.lk-cr.hp-hp rekka

and it’s easy to hit confirm into something safer if they’re blocking like

cr.lk-st.lk-cr.mk-lp AE

I usually start all my combos with cr.lk and st.lk because pretty much all of her normals link from st.lk and they tend to be easier than cr.lp to combo from.

and the nice thing about having:

cr.lk-st.lk-cr.mk-rekka as your bnb is because if you fuck up the plink on cr.mk you get a cr.lk instead which is properly linked and you can combo a lp rekka out of it

Her overhead is really interesting, if you manage to hit it on the last few active frames, you can link a cr.mk out of it.

You can do HP AE on opponent’s wake up from about one big training block away and walk forward one step and then f. mp and you’ll hit it right on the tip of their hurtbox and it’s an easy link into cr.mk from there, you can get almost 300 damage if the HP AE connects. It works on Ryu and Fei so far, I don’t see why it wouldn’t work on everyone else.

you might be able to link something heavier like a cr.hp too but then you don’t get the high-low mixup if they manage to block the overhead.

I am trying to do Poison’s combos and I can’t do this one: cr.mk-U1

Is it normal?

you…you…cant…do that

I can’t, but can you?

“cr.mk-U1” means "cr.mk-ex rekka-U1 "
It drops on Honda,Cody,Adon.
It works on Guile,Dudley,Fei Long but it’s very tight.
