Plinking / Tsuji-Style: KARA BUFFER Inputs for Easier Links and More!

Can those inputs be anything OTHER than a turbo controller?

Are people out there actually using turbo controllers???

I mean, I know they exist, but I didn’t think many people were actually using them.

Pretty sure it’s a turbo controller.

It might work when you’re playing online, but I tried using the turbo function on my stick when I first tried the challenge mode trials and I found that 99% of the time it would not link. Perhaps his stick’s turbo is different to mine (HRAP3)…?

which makes your demon so very, very, very nice. did anyone ever see if it is 100% hittable after cr.lp, cr.lp, cr.mp, RD?

Omg I realise i’ve been doing this since release for demons by mashing all punchs and light kick and back and demon would come out so quickly I could do it after blocking a jumpin and always getting the evil ryu or ken on there next move with a demon.

As I learnt the game and started to learn bnb’s I stopped mashing and tried to input correctly and my demons came out a lot less consistantly and I would always hit and reset with a light punch or kick which made me start to h8 playing as akuma(as I felt I lost having an ultra then).

Because of that and the fact I can’t do ‘simple’ links like c.lp’s to c.mp’s and other character 1frame links I started to feel sick of the game mechanics but this way to help links so much really makes me happy that there is another method out there to help with progression to a higher skill level.

*just loling that when I was a noob mashing 3p’s+lk+back I was luckily doing high level demonage somehow =D

I use to have trouble with Rufus ad his LK-HP-HP Galactic link.

Now it is a breeze.

I seriouslly went from 30-40% sucess to 90%+ in actual matches using this.

Training mode is nearly 100% I would say 98% hehe.

This is probably the same way you do double tapping. Only difference is you don’t need to have yor index in middle finger so close together to hit the same button.

Hey guys, newbie here, I’ve been trying this technique and wasn’t doing so well, my timing was still a little off sometimes (Plus the PS3 pad makes stuff like mp ~ lp painful :).

So anyway I read something about double tapping for links and tried it along with this technique, what I mean is like this (Taking Akuma for example):

cr. lp, cr. lp, cr. mp, cr. mp ~ cr. lp (like this technique described in this thread)

I’m finding this much more reliable for me and I don’t have to be so accurate with timing, I can almost press the first cr. mp as I would trying to chain another cr. lp and then doing the technique described here (cr. mp ~ cr. lp) and I find the link comes out a lot more reliably, even if I mess up the mp ~ lp bit and end up pressing mp + lp only or mp then lp singularly. (Obviously totally wrong, I blame the pad D:)

Now as I said mp ~ lp is difficult on the PS3 pad (sliding from triangle to square is painful and I can’t do it fast enough) so I tried something that’s a lot easier, the hp ~ lp command

I tried it with Chun-Li’s combo cr. lp, cr. lp, s. hp (can be done with three cr. lps) and the input I do is

cr. lp, cr. lp, s. hp, s. hp ~ s. lp

I can almost press the first s. hp as I would a jab to get 3 x lps so basically not much timing required and then the s. hp ~ s. lp is pressed straight after. I found that it was much easier for me, personally, to get the link out. It’s also good because if you don’t manage to get the mp, mp, lp + mp to come out with mp, mp ~ lp command and get mp, mp + lp instead you still end up with mp, mp + lp. Whereas if you just did the mp ~ lp command without the first mp you only get one mp (In mp + lp). Hope I’m making sense :s

Are the American ‘top players’ using this plinking system? I think they double tap since it has been helpfull in so many other games - it’s just a second nature to them nowadays.

On topic: this stuff does help - for example: c.lp, c.hp is really easy to do with plinking. I now even do f+hp, c.hp, (ex)tatsu/srk (fadc srk if it’s a finish) 85% of the time because of plinking. Obviously when I succesfully land a fa or get a free combo, it’s not like I’m mashing out f+hp’s…

Looking at these to methods at the same time - double tapping vs plinking - I’d say plinking is better, way better. But I already read most of us think so, so no need to explain why it’s **so much **better.

Rufus tranlation

Okay, so im reading up on this but I just dont quite get it. I want to use it for rufus to try to link his 2nd or 3rd LP into EX Messiah Kick d+f k. Should I be doing

down + p dp (dp+dk) ex messiah?

I`ve heard this is possible, but never been able to link the two.

Any help is appriciated.

Plinking does not work for crouching LP or ST. LP or ST. lk.

Reasons where explained earlier. If you trystanding you get a kara grab. crouching lk out prioritizes the lp so you ge lp lk coming out of you try plinking lp into lp crouching.

Your best option if you want to do the combo you mention is. Cr.lp, then hit cr.lp~cr.lk(plinked) to link in the crounching low kick.(Not to fast so it actually links) then do ex w/e.

Although I find the timing off the jab jab ex w/e with rufus not that hard a timeing. Plinking will help for his tougher links lik st.lk-st.fp

I guess this is a noobish question kinda, but i know what a chain is, i know what a link is and what the difference is. But a Chain-cancel? Thats new to me, can someone please explain this to me so i can figure out the many possibilities of this myself?

‘Chaining’ means cancelling a move into itself, so if you’re chaining cr.LK then every time you press the button it’s cancelling the previous cr.LK to start the new one. Not every normal move is chain-cancellable, and some characters can chain cr.LK while others can’t.

ahhh so u mean the chain itself. I got kind of confused, i knew a chain was a normal cancel.
Calling it a Chain-CANCEL seems a bit double.

Well Chain Canceling (Renda Cancel) is a Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo thing.
Even back then you cannot Cancel a Chain Combo.
But with Chain Canceling, it is way to get around that.

Since we are talking about Street Fighter IV here, I do not think KIRBYSIM mean "Chain Cancel."
KIRBYSIM mean that Priority Link c.LK can work only if c.LK is not Chainable (is that even a word?).

I didnt find it accurate that if you press fierce and then press medium that it comes out fierce then fierce + medium but the idea still works.

With Ryu, you can link lp to mp or hp so theroetically you can do it across all three buttons and have 3 options to connect. If you miss you’re probably landing a lp and if you pull off a special fast enough, you’re still connecting it. This definitely makes it easier to land these links :slight_smile:

I usually main Boxer and Slim and I would like to know how can I apply this technique w/ them?

s.jab(far) > c.rh ~ ** (probably the most useful)
c.jab(ch) > c.rh ~ **
c.mk > c.lk ~ c.lp
s.rh(close) > c.lk ~ c.lp
overhead punch > c.mp ~ **
overhead punch > c.rh ~ **
overhead punch > c.lk ~ c.lp (although this is very easy without plinking)
