And I hit a nerve.
Type 2 diabetes is never cute, and always painful. With your donation of 60 dollars you can put a fatty out of her misery at the hands of an Olympic god.
Small Arms and CN Punch TIme Explosion are the only two that leap instantly to mind- neither of them are great, but I wouldn’t call any of them terrible either- I’d say they’re all better then, say, TMNT Smash Up or Dream Mix TV World. I don’t know why one would say being Japanese matters in this because Japan’s put out a lot of shitty arena fighters and only a couple good ones themselves. (the Smash games and Jump Superstars)
It seems like the developers have a definite goal in mind to make the game competitive as well as accessible, and that gives me a lot of hope for this game being worth a look. Sony’s picked up some of the coolest new IPs in the last couple of generations (hell yeah Sly Cooper) and with Santa Monica looking over the shoulder there’s definitely some talent keeping watch. Nobody’s really given the genre this kind of production values and attention except Nintendo with the Smash series, so here’s hoping that it turns out to be something worth playing alongside the Smash titles during game night with a full sofa.
This game already seems better than smash by provided some method to the madness. It seems like everything they are doing is making the more random elements of the smash franchise technical and controllable.

[]having viable zoning/keepaway is a huge plus to me and smash not having it was always a turnoff
[]Items having a purpose that supports characters rather that could instakill is a big plus as well to me at least because I always loved the IDEA of items in this type of game
[]managing meters and using them effectively at the core of the mechanics should make this game alot different from smash and means I won’t have to worry about this being a cheap cash grab.
[]Sony has been secretly hyping this for months so hopefully enough money is behind this game.

Basically taking what I liked about smash and making it more serious with Sony characters I like better than the Nintendo characters has me pretty pumped. I love what I’m hearing so far and the ONLY thing I’m worried about is them making everyone unique to each other while maintaining balance.
Okay, NOW I’m legit optimistic and excited for this game. Maybe old to some, but it’s news to me.
I think it’s important to be cautiously optimistic about this game and not to disregard it just because it is probably influenced by another game. Skullgirls is obviously influenced by Marvel, but it would be silly to dismiss it right off the bat and say it’s wack because it has some similar attributes and is made by a new American Studio. It seems like they are really trying with this game, it seems like they want it to be fun for everyone including people who play competitively.
I’m a avid fan of the Smash series, and I have to say I’m more skeptical about the next Smash Bros than Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale because Nintendo (and Sakurai) have a history of legitimately going out of their way to make the series less competitive (tripping, removing L Canceling and WDing, etc) Not to mention, don’t be surprised that now, everytime the community finds anything remotely interesting in Smash 4, Nintendo will just patch it away in an update because 12 year old kids are going to complain about it. Oh yeah, and Nintendo’s terrible history of always getting online play wrong.
Why I refuse to buy a Nintendo console since the gamecube, I felt scammed. But yeah I agree with you on alot of your points especially making smash worse over time, I swear it’s I feel like that game has been devolving since the early 2000’s.
As far as the character debate goes young guys like me who grew up on playstation and toonami likely have more of a connection with Sony characters than Nintendo ones. So I think this game will have it’s own brand of nostalgia going for it (especially if they get Crash and Spyro) and will have a surprisingly different group of hardcore fans.
50 bucks says this will be part of MLG’s fighting game tournaments after its released. kinda like how smash was once were. i’d be interested in this game, but i dont have a ps3.
Did you even read the first post? I had already said that when the game was announced.
Smash Brothers was a really fun game to play with friends and family. Hopefully this will also be another fun game to play with friends and family.
This game has Parappa, Sweet Tooth, and the Red Princess. I am buying this game on those 3 characters.
Fun, fun, fun, fun, looking forward to the gameplay.
capcom should get in on the action and consider that Nintendo vs Capcom so the casual community can have their party game and major fighting game titles can be what they’re supposed to be. the question is would nintendo allow their IP to be used on other systems or is that too much of a stretch for them?
Uh, Nintendo characters will never appear on non-Nintendo consoles. That’s pretty much a given.
Doesn’t mean that a Nintendo vs. Capcom game can’t appear on the Wii U or something, though.
Competitive fighting game or not, Capcom should stay the hell away from this game.
They still have their own mess to tend to.
Revive Power Stone. No Nintendo characters required.
no one can relate to power stone characters because no one knows who they are. everyone knows who mario, luigi, bowser, donkey kong, ryu, ken, and chun-li are. those are virtually household names. this game does the same by including characters from other well-known franchises for easy consumer recognition.
Nintendo vs Capcom is a stupid fucking idea imo. It would only take away from Smash bros’ appeal plus any one that wants to play SF characters can play one of the FOUR current capcom games out now. Anyone that wants to play Nintendo characters fighting would buy smash.
Nintendo would gain nothing from that kind of game which is why it won’t ever happen.
They should really shoot for cloud strife and/or sora to really get people hyped for this game, im sure the game will be extremely successful if both or one of those characters are included. Im also hoping that not too many overally realistic characters make it in, if nathan drake makes let that be the only one.(although i personally prefer him not to be in myself). It be also pretty kool if characters from some other rpg titles exclusive to the playstation that were done along time ago made a cameo. color edit would pretty nice as well.
BE really nice to also see some type of short combo system which is not present in smash at all.
I think the guy from Infamous would be pretty cool for this game.
I still need to play that game.
This is a sony all star game so asking for not alot realistic characters is pointless because most of Sony best sellers are real life style games (God of war, Infamous,Uncharted, etc).
You should expect Nathan Drake, Cole, Jak, Ratchet, somebody from Resistance probably Nathan Hale, hopefully Nariko because she was an awesome character and maybe a Heavy Rain character.
If you don’t like realistic characters you should probably stick to Nintendo because Sony is all about that. You will have a good group of goofy characters tho like Sackboy(LBP), Fat Princess, etc.
I have no idea why people are calling for anything more than getting Crash and/or Spyro in this game. They were the mascots of Sony in the 90’s and half of the 2000’s. If anybody is on a DLC or thrid party list they should be at the top because they would help sell the most copies if they got both.
what are “life style games”?
