Thanks I’ll check it out
You’re giving him too much credit. He’s just came right out the gate saying this game won’t be better than Smash or won’t be good because it’s not made by the Japanese. I can see if he said the game won’t be good because of something about the game that we know but he used the “Japan makes better games” card.
“Psuedointellectual”! Damn, that made my dick go limp! Hadn’t seen that one in ages! There I was, getting off on my own self-masturbatory tendencies when all of a sudden my browser crashed, giving me the worst case of blue balls!
Here’s how you know someone is full of shit, in list format, no less, because I’m merciful and clever:
- They use the word intelligence as though it can be quantified
- They say absolutely nothing, in almost every sense of the word
- Appeasement is impossible to them (women lay eggs, men “pseudointellecutalize”)
- They fail to address any aspect of an argument or any statement made in a body of text with controverting evidence
- They make shit up and fling it
- They become tripe in their list-making
- An awkward/unnatural infatuation with peculiar red herrings
You can spot 1 - 7 in this one list:
“1. They insult other people’s intelligence
(like triforce)
2. They manage to say little or nothing by saying a lot
(like triforce)
3. Appeasement is impossible to them (this is more pertinent for women, men are just stubborn as fuck)
(like triforce)
4. They end up contradicting themselves
(like triforce)
5. They make shit up
(like triforce)
6. They get overripe and painfully obvious in their delivery
(like triforce)
7. Awkward / unnatural word usage.
(like triforce)”
Now, I don’t know about you, but when it comes to spotting bullshit - I’m an expert. I’ve spent 8 years observing fantastical pricks on a top 10 fighting game forum. I organize the yearly conventions at Otakon and everything.

Mind projection is one hell of a drug.

The sad part is that I tend to put you in the class of more reasonable people on these boards.
Yes, I’m blatantly pessimistic due to the pedigree, but never did I state the game won’t be better than Smash or it will be bad because it’s non-Japanese, categorically. Subtle distinctions but massively important details that threaten the nature of my position.
“Japan makes better games” card? Pathetic, oversimplifying and ridiculous. Really, had I not a history of defending Smash here or a Smash avatar, my pessimism wouldn’t even be a problem. If this forum, of all places, needs convincing that japanese developers tend to develop games differently from western developers, this forum is truly hopeless.
Because why bother with inferior genres?
Different game developers develop games differently!
It’s not a West vs East thing. I wish it was because Platinum Games and SEGA wouldn’t be the only people I buy good games from that aren’t fighters.
I’m only curious about this game, close to not caring. I found 1 article I didn’t see posted during my browsing and I just found your posts hilarious.
…hmmm. I dunno how I really feel about supers = KO, thus being the only way to score a KO(from what I’ve been reading, unless I missed something).
Still looks like a good time though. I wonder if they’ll have alternate inputs so you can play with an arcade stick?
Hi, SynikaL! waves
Of course it is. At least, it can be. Are you really going to sit there and tell me there aren’t cultural differences between the East and West that effect how they make games? Especially in consideration of the market today, with Western publishers/developers dominating in terms of market share, the shrinking Japanese console market, the outsourcing of Japanese IPs to the West, etc, etc.? Really? You’re openly denying this?
Sup, Rek! Nice to see a cheery forumite that’s not always caught up in the bullshit!
Don’t change topics.
Both are plagued by sequelitis.
Both are suffering to rise of development cost and the rise of mobile gaming, the East suffering more than the West to the latter.
Regardless, I’m saying what you proposed is not an East vs West thing.
Culture effects everything, saying you need to be Japanese to make a game this good or be able to capture this element is horseshit. That would be the developers philosophies, which can be whatever regardless of your location. Being Japanese doesn’t make you awesome at making JRPGs, I’m pretty sure someone in the West could make an awesome JRPG and someone in the East can make an awesome WRPG (Dragon Dogma seems pretty nifty).
Who else other than Capcom is outsourcing IPs to the West?
Nintendo, Square and Sony to some extent.
Which games?
You forgot the Gears of War Characters
Dark Souls, enough said

You are one of the very reasons why, us, melee players will never ever get any respect. You need to stop thinking that melee is this perfect, infallible game. Honestly, I hope you never give this new game chance. Less snobs playing it, the better.
Nintendo would be Metroid and Donkey Kong given to Retro Studios, Square was trying to make a western FF if I recall correctly - but it was cancelled - and Sony basically only has western IPs nowadays.
None of them are trying as hard as Capcom though, but the effort is there.
Konami has outsourced their IPs as well. Silent Hill and Castlevania have been outsourced.
Sony always had Santa Monica, afaik none of the games from there were outsourced to them they are original IPs.
Metroid: Other M was Team Ninja, Japanese studio. Donkey Kong has been developed by the West since DKC (Rare is British, remember?).
Making a game for the West =/= outsourcing
I knew I was right in thinking Konami did, I just forgot the game
Maybe had I not presented my pessimism so strongly, you wouldn’t feel the need to attribute absolutes like “need” in regards to my position. Obviously, the team doesn’t “need” to be Japanese to make this game good. My point; history has shown that the East finds more success creating these types of games than the West. I attempted to give what I believe are reasons - quirky presentation and aesthetics (when viewed from a Western perspective) and more familiarity with successful 2D fighting game and platformer design.
Also, if the bolded were the rule and not the exception, social sciences would have zero foundation.
I’m done here. I remain skeptical but hopeful regarding this game.
yes, you’re a terrible person for wanting a cute cake eating princess to fight the likes of kratos
Care to provide examples? I can’t remember any Western developer that has made this type of game.
In “science” they also teach correlation doesn’t imply causation.
