Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale Announced

Heihachi isn’t good in a team setting. He brings absolutely nothing to a team at all with his abysmal range and long combos.

d+3~1, the crumple state, allows you to combo instant air dash into j.1 on most characters. Raiden’s hitbox is kinda wonky and it doesn’t work, but for most characters the second hit will land. It’s actually a really godlike combo into the level 1 because you build a good 45 meter or so before doing the super, which is 55 away from another level 1, which Heihachi builds like nothing.

It also sets up this really lame meter “loop” where if you have more than 1 level of AP and land it, you can get a full charge d+3 after the level 1 kills, and if you land another d+3~1, you get 60 for just that hit and 75 for the combo. If you were almost at level 2 you could probably get in like 7 or 8 supers before you wouldn’t build enough meter to get another level 1. But yeah, in general after landing with a level 1, full charge d+3 just to have it.

You underestimate Hell Sweep as a lockdown tool to allow your partner to land a super. Also, if you pair him with a range character, which you should be doing anyways, he can keep people away from you while you get free roam to do whatever you want and build meter. Plus he can be a meat shield and stand in front of you and block while you shoot through him, but that isn’t a Heihachi exclusive tactic. Basically though, Heihachi is a rush down character, but he’s also very oppressive in his rush down and he WILL be a problem that will draw your attention to him.

Has anyone done any testing of reversal windows (if any) after stand, roll, and delayed getup? Or whether there are non-super invincible moves?

Haven’t tested wakeup invincibility since it’s kinda awkward in training mode, you could maybe get some stuff going but it’ll probably take two people. As for non super invincible moves, EWGF is of course invincible, that’s the only one I know off the top of my head, but then there’s moves with armor like Big Daddy’s shoulder tackle and square moves, not sure if you want to count those.

Yeah, I really want to look into oki setups. Is it possible to meaty in this game, and if so do the meaties only stuff moves and jumps or can they happen before rolls too? I would love me some meaty unavoidable supers. Have some ideas, can test them after work, I think one can invite online friends to practice mode if anyone is interested.

Well I’ve found what I think are super practical meaty unavoidable supers with Ratchet; certainly no wakeup rolls, stands, or delayed getups can get out of them. The only question is whether there are invincible moves that can be activated during a reversal window to escape them, and that I don’t know. I sent an email over to Maj, who helped design this game, to find out. I’ll let you know what he says.

There’s a lot of tech in this game. It’s so rough to try and figure the stuff out it almost makes me want to

ACTUALLY BUY THE GUIDE

Is the guide any good?

I don’t know, I’ve seen pictures here and there and at the very least you get really detailed move properties, but I haven’t seen enough of it to know if it’s worth it.

Danke Ultradavid. I curse your abilities to find these because while I have found a bunch that look to meaty if they get up or get up then roll (or punish backrolls geez it is sfxt all over again), I’ve yet to find one that can also cover forward roll or immediate rolls without getting up. I suppose you are talking about Ryno, which makes sense. Damn that is out for a long time I am jealous.

today I finally got to play the game for a decent amount of time (preordered it, but I was preoccupied with family thanksgiving festivities).

I found a stick button setup that kinda works for me, although it’s still sometimes a struggle to remember that jump and block are on buttons. I like both 2v2 and 1v1. if you want to have some games, add me. my PSN is Flowtaro

I do have to say, 4 player FFA is pretty good practice for just being aware of your surroundings more and tailoring your combos to not get cut and such. I really feel like 2v2 in this game has a wealth of possibilities for team comp. I’m just worried that this game is gonna die before it gets any representation at fighting game tourneys. I feel like we need to figure out a unified ruleset…

Honestly, I’ll probably pick it up tonight on my way home. I’ll let you guys know. I’m hoping for something similar to UMVC with frame data but we’ll see.

if you play timed then someone merely needs to score one kill and then proceed to run like a bitch until the timer is up. barring extreme circumstances it would be the same as playing with 1 stock.

From what I been reading, that’s already happening on other match types. Players being to afraid to get near each other. Running isn’t nearly as bad in this game as it is in Smash.

Man its a good thing fat princess square starts up so slow. cause otherwise that shit would be unfair.

Anyone know what the belts mean?
Sometimes they’re blue or red, or purple with golden things on the end, and there’s usually a random number on them.
I had like a 62 purple belt this one time, damn that felt good.

Belts are the ranking system for this game. Black belt being the highest belt.

Then why don’t I always have a belt? Is it a bug?

I leafed through the guide at work, there isn’t any frame data but they give you a lot of info on each character’s moves, AP gain, what not. Also list stuff like each characters best and worst matchups, best stages etc. I tried to buy one last week but for some reason the guide wasn’t priced so I just kinda leafed through stuff until it does.

Here are some scans of some of the characters in the guide, I have no clue if the guy is gonna scan more of the book.
