Well of course they’re balancing the characters we know of, because new things are figured out all the time and they’re adding new characters and you have to balance around the new characters as well. I’m not saying anything is for sure or something, a majority of those could be DLC for all I know, but I don’t think we have seen everything they have in the game right now. Basically, the character select screen has that much room and Paul Gale gave us one hell of an oddball specific number with “It’s not 39 ounces worth,” so maybe there’s something to it.
I mean seriously, what the hell is 39 ounces? Not a damn thing, that number is either incredibly random or intentionally specific, and the available space might not just be a coincidence.
Well according to the latest build’s character selection screenthere could be up to 40 characters in this game going by space (each player block is worth 10 character blocks)
Granted I only expect 8 more to be revealed (4 at TGS, 4 at NYCC) which would be 28 chars which would mean 12 DLC chars over the coming months but WHO KNOWS.

It certainly does fit 40, but I was also banking on the PG quote. I honestly have no idea how many characters are going to be in the game at this point, it seems like every week there’s a new rumor about another 4 or whatever going to be added. The first time I read that PG quote it looked like crazy gibberish, but after counting the character slots that are potentially available I’m really starting to question just how many characters are going to show up.
Apparently, the entire conference was people dressed up as Ratchet, Toro and Sackboy watching a four minute gameplay vid of Toro beating Nathan, Kratos and Radec.
gg TGS hopefully reveals will actually be before the end of the month or else we’ll just have to wait for NYCC
Well that sucks. If they don’t show anything at the TGS, then it would seem that the american made fighters don’t care for announcing stuff at Japanese events. We got nothing from Injustice either…
I dunno, I can’t really feel all too hype for the game yet. The roster doesn’t seem very ALL STARS too me ya know? Sure you’ve got Sir Dan, Raiden, Spike, but there isn’t anyone in the game who is making me all I NEED THIS GAME TONIGHT. I guess it’ll be fun kicking Donte players out of rooms on arrival though.
I think a final fantasy character would really rope more people on the hype train. Personally, I don’t really care who is in it, I just want a platform fighter made by people who care at least a tiny bit about the competitive aspect.
To me that kinda feels wrong.
Didn’t Ryu start off as a Nintendo character and later on as a X-Box game exclusive character until Ninja Gaiden 2: Stigma came along?
So? Big Daddy is in the game and the first Bioshock appeared on 360 first then ported to PS3 a year later. Snake was Brawl when Metal Gear had been closely associated with Playstation since MGS.
I don’t get the Bid Daddy decision either, but I can agree on Snake. He started off as a Nintendo character in the earily Metal Gear games, which featured Kyle Reese (from Terminator 1) on the cover lol, but … that franchise became big on the Playstation 1, so he is kinda understandable.
Ryu Hayabusa is not. Wasn’t Dead Or Alive X-Box exclusive at the beginning as well? That game featured Ryu as well and everyone was asking if that was the actual Ryu Hayabusa, because of Ayanes appearance in the Ninja Gaiden games, so … even more that speaks against Ryu Hayabusa being in PS3. In the end of the day, I don’t care. He is a cool character and the PS3 owners can rock the shit out of him. To me it stays weird to come up with characters who have more to do with other names than Sony.
Big Daddy got in because Kevin Levine personally asked Superbot to put him in and helped with his story and such. It wasn’t so much about Big Daddy being a Sony character as Kevin liking the idea for the game and wanting him to be in it.
I dunno if you can say he started as a Nintendo character, since the original games were on MSX.
Edit: And DOA 1 was on PSX/Saturn, the X-box didn’t exist :razzy: And DOA 2 was PS2/Dreamcast, it seems.
I’d say the two big characters this game needs is Crash (THE sony character) and Sephiroth (probably the most popular/well-known FF character, or even overall PSX character).
Has there been any signs of Wipeout on the stages? I havn’t been paying that much attention.
