Yes Markman has gone on record saying that. Also it’s cheaper to re-use old PCB designs than design new PCBs.
Also PS4 won’t get a fightstick for a long time, expect there to be one for the first big game that comes out (nothing has been announced yet). I suppose it’s possible USF4 might, MIGHT come out on ps4 and you could see some fight sticks out next year…
They said it’s “not planned” which is speak for “maybe we’ll make a port later”
Also, I said “might, MIGHT” so I’m not optimistic that it will go there, but I could see capcom giving two guys the go ahead to port it over the course of a year or two for “free” money.
Damn, i wasnt expecting anything different, but a break wouldve been nice. Thats one of the reasons i dont jump to be the first to own a system on launch. Only system i ever did that for was ps2 due to tekken tag. But after that, prices are ridiculous and all the bugs that come along with this. Hopefully by the time i jump onto the ps4 train, there will be some kind of converter/patch/etc that will allow certain ps3 stick to work. Or a third party pcb by toodles
This is true, but the first few years of the 360 and PS3 consoles’ releases we didn’t have a shitload of custom PCB makers like we do now.
EDIT - Warning! Rant ahead!
I don’t see an issue with PCBs being made for the PS4, as Sony has never seemed to give a shit about PCBs being made to work with their systems due to standard USB compatibility. Whether the PS4 has the same ease of USB compatibility I’m unsure of.
I do see an issue with PCBs being made for XBoxOne, as Microsoft would be quick to send a C&D or lawsuit towards those who pump them out for sale. In the case of the XBoxOne, we’ll just have to wait for Madcatz, PDP (not holding breath for this), or some other 3rd party to make a wired common ground pad we can padhack until a Chinese company starts pumping something out for the “softmodders” as Ed put it.
As a modder who really enjoys his work, I’m glad we have new consoles that will require padhacking skills, as now those of us skilled enough at our trade will have more business and we won’t have so many softmodders degrading what we do.
Until it’s been tested by someone from SRKTT using the Toodles or d3v methods (literally wiring up a single button to two different sticks/PCBs), then we cannot be sure.
