That sucks for you but that a different issue entirely
[/quote]
Kinda, but ever since the problem with fightsticks not working after the recent update and sony not accepting blame for it, leads one to believe that if sony isnt doing everything to make sure licensed PS3 sticks work on PS3’s, they wont put much effort into making sure those sticks work on PS4’s
I read somewhere that Sony was aware that the 4.50 update messed up controller support on some PSN PS2 classics and that they would incorporate a fix in the next update… Don’t hold your breath that this issue will prompt them to push an update JUST to fix this issue, though.
I’ll have to review to see WHERE I read that though… :?
Something else is going on for you guys with the PS3 problems!
I’ve been using a variety of joysticks lately and none have had issues… Granted, I don’t have commissioned Mad Catz joysticks so I can’t comment on those directly. If it is an MC issue, check to see if it’s a Round 1 or Round 2 joystick. (Refer to the joystick FAQ’s in the stickies to see which Mad Catz TE’s use what PCB.) Those have the problematic PCB’s in them that had compatibility issues with PC’s and have had tendencies (BOTH PS3 and XBox 360 editions) to fail at some point later down the road… In that case, unless you bought the joystick recently and are still under warranty, Cthulu (or PS360+ or other reliable 3rd party replacement PCB) is your friend!
So far, none of my Hori joysticks (HRAP 3, HRAP 3 SE, HRAP V3 SA) or the Cthulu joysticks have had issues.
I don’t know what other people do with their joysticks, but I DO NOT wrap the USB cables around the case NOR do I try to repack them in the cable storage compartment! I think that’s where a lot of you are damaging the cables unintentionally instead of maybe having a bad part (USB cable) in your joystick.
P.S.-- The MC’s are out-of-commission due to lack of control levers and some necessary artwork/plexi installations on at least 3 of them. They won’t be going into use again until the parts and art are there!
Is it just me, or have more DEAF and READING-IMPAIRED people joined SRK lately?
I guess it is true… some people just won’t acknowledge bad news no matter how obvious it is.
There’s no free meal for luxury… Gaming – and especially high-end gaming gear – is luxury. You have to pay for it.
You’ve just paid $400 for the PS4 and $500 for the XBox One. Day One, even! Some of you honestly think Sony and MS are going to be moved when you cry that have you to pay more money to use a joystick on their systems??? You paid for the privilege of being the first kid on the block to own the system(s)!
Man, SRK is good for laughs sometimes!
The naivety and refusal to see reality is incredibly high here…
I would hardly call them luxury or high end. And they certainly didn’t pay to be the first to have them. They bought them for the same price everyone else will pay for them.
Actually factoring the precision and cost, Arcade Sticks are a unnecessary accessory to an already high end luxury.
Video games in general (even the Retro systems) are considered high price luxury items. And its true early adopters pay more and go though more issues than the consumers who wait out the hype and get there consoles months to years later.
PS3 at Launch was 499.99, now they are what $250 with bundled games and extras. I payed almost $500 for a 60 GB backwards compatible PS3 back when they were still new, I bough a Ultra Slim God of War Bundle (comes with the whole God-of-War series) for $250. You Do pay more to be first.
It was a year till the first 3DS units had their price break, and now the Vita is getting a $40-50 drop in it’s price.
You Also have to pay your way though early glitches, manufacturing flaws, delays and supply shortages.
The PS3 60 GB model was $599 at launch, the 20GB model $499…
And of course it’s cheaper now - Aside from the obvious cost reduction redesigns over the years, the current PS3 is just a shell of its former self. No native PS2 support, no media slots, fewer USB ports… I’m gonna hug my 60GB PS3 when I get home.
That’s why I’m going to wait at least 6 months before I get a PS4, to see if there are any hardware issues. Plus I’m hoping to snatch up some super cheap used 360 games over the next year.
I truly feel that the market has shifted to reward the patient FAR more than dedicated fans.
Example all the madcatz TE2 launch shortage shenanigans, shutouts to markman and madcatz for having a product that’s so widely coveted that it’s hard to get a hold of, but in 6 months there won’t be any fuss and (hopefully) everyone will have moved on.
Maybe I’m just parroting other posts with different examples, it is interesting to note that the PS4 won’t be receiving a price drop anytime soon, so buying early doesn’t just automatically set you back X dollars…
What does deaf have to do with comprehension of text?
PS360+ is capable of firmware updates. What this means is that, in time, it should be possible for Akishop to put out a firmware update that provides support for the newer consoles. It’s not impossible*. Just time sensitive.
Also, before you begin a monologue to prove a point, at least recognize what you’re arguing against.
*Well, in the Xbox One’s case, it can potentially be impossible unless Akishop wants to decrypt their new stupid security chip.
Well, finally had time try out some with Injustice (system software v1.52):
Hori VLX Diamond
PDP Injustice
PDP MK Klassic & TE Sticks
Exar Neo Geo Pad
Tommo Neo Geo X Stick (for shitz & giggles since this actually works on the PS3)
Just as expected though disappointing, none of these work but will wait a few months to see if there’s a patch/update for Injustice (or any other fighting games I’d be interested in) since Sony did say it’s up to the the developers to implement it. If after a few months & nothing happens then I’ll just sell all of my sticks (sold the PS3 so have no use for any of them if none work with the PS4) except the Voltech VAS-22 since I never got around to finishing that project (just missing a PCB). Might cave in & get a padhack from Gummo for it but kinda reluctant due to the cost. I’m hoping (more like wishful thinking for sooner than later) the PS360+ will eventually get a firmware update for PS4-compatibility.
Markman, you probably can’t respond to this publicly but I have to ask…any ETA (if at all) on a TE2 stick for the PS4?!? I’m guessing end of next summer (after E3) or early fall when more fighting games are released for the PS4.
They’re not going to let current PS3/360 owners use their existing PS3 or Stock 360 joysticks on the new systems. Not gonna happen!
If they really did implement backwards compatibility with joysticks, it’d hurt Hori and Mad Catz, too, and they don’t want to hurt third party hardware companies paying them license fees to develop product for the new consoles, too. How would they (Hori and MC) sell Fighting Edge 2 and TE 2 if the original Fighting Edge and TE’s work on the new systems, too?
But seriously, I’m not jeopardizing anything by saying this stuff. The companies (MS and Sony) just won’t say what their plans are because they already know people are ticked as it is about some things with the new systems. They’ll be quiet and expect gamers to behave just like they did this past system cycle with all its problems.
I know nobody wants to spend yet more money on new hardware unless you’re a serious collector but honestly what should you expect with any of these console manufacturers…? They’ve never exactly been charitable to gamers. Gamers, as a general group, have always been willingly led by the nose by these companies. The 360 crowd by itself re-proved Pavlov’s Conditioned Response findings! Why would people expect things to be that much better when they proved they were up to being abused as badly as they were by this last generation of consoles?
A lot of crap happened but the PS3 and 360 crowds in general took it. We really showed Sony and MS, didn’t we??? They made lousy business decisions, had defective consoles and network outage issues WITH identity theft but most of us still went ahead and kept on giving these businesses our money! What incentive is there for them to improve???
