Playstation 2 is better

I honestly don’t think its a huge effort to fix stuff like Twelve’s speech, bar sizes and stuff like that. I feel they rushed the release to distance it more from the upcoming 4AEv2k12 and/or SFxTekken. It’s not like the game is in alpha state. Putting apart the anger, I think we should just notify capcom what went wrong and even offering help for tests. I still have some hope.

Speaking of patches, one just came out for 360 this morning. Ranked is now noticeably faster to find a match in. There’s still moments where you have to wait like 5 minutes though…

I can respect this post. I wish it was in the OP since it helps me/us better understand where you are coming from. I can understand your frustration and share some of it as well. I think your OP just set me off since I was already on edge arguing with a bunch of 3rd Strike bashers who look for any reason to shit on this game.

Honestly, I hate fighting with other 3rd Strike enthusiast and hate seeing other 3rd Strike enthusiast go at it as well. Our community is too small for that and besides, we are already getting put on blast from enough areas such as here: Sirlin.net: "The Anti-Progress Attitude"

Anyways, I’m willing to squash any beef with you and anyone else in this thread and I hope others do the same. I rather focus on making our community stronger than fighting amongst ourselves. No hard feelings I hope.

There is hope that the game will be patched as evident here: http://shoryuken.com/2011/08/25/3rd-strike-online-issues-with-ranked-matches-and-xbox-replay-system/

I have faith that Derek will come through for us since he mentioned Capcom was willing to patch the game if it wasn’t arcade perfect. As long as he remains committed to fixing the problems that we the community have presented he has my support and ultimately, my thanks. It’s nice to be able to talk to a producer for a game we love who can actually make a difference.

i have no beef with anyone, and i never go out of my way to call anyone names who doesnt do it first.

i didnt make this thread to talk shit,i made it so maybe Mr. Derek Neal can see that this version of 3s is not ok at its current state.

I feel as though Capcom (or Derek Neal) really dropped the ball on this release.

lollol… “My join date is bigger than yours!”

Being 16 must be a blast.

anyways I tested again, setting ggpo delay=0 just in case, all filters of.
Well, the input are more accurate than ps2 version. I tested with red parries and compared to ps2 version for the same exact parry I have to input earlier on ps2, that means that ps2 is the laggier one. This is good news at least, bare the clusterfuck that is getting a proper setup in the HD generation

I think it’s pretty obvious that regardless of whether you think it’s a good port or not, clearly the situation deserves to be investigated if 50 percent of players report problems and another 50 percent say it’s fine.

Agree 100%… It’s odd that Seth said their debug tools are showing very little (if any) input lag, but a lot of players are seemingly finding some.

Hopefully Capcom will address the major issues (re: matchmaking) and put the final polish on the game.

lol your taunting me with this one.

I might add that while the training mode needed many more improvements, the “savestate” feature is quite a welcome addition

i was playing the original xbox version on the 360 today and can honestly say it looks about 10x better than the new one. the new filters are so ugly to look at and playing without them distorts the images making them look even more pixelated.

i dont see how it could have been hard to get the visuals looking the same as the original xbox release.

The save state feature doesn’t actually do much anything in my oppinion. It resets every time you press start, along with the rest of the gameplay. Of course the real problem is the said resetting with the start button, it’s just idiotic. Why can’t it just pause the game?

The start button indeed resets…to the start of what you recorded before, meaning you can instantaneously repeat an opponent pattern as much as you want, without going to the damn menu like in other consoles versions.
Even though there are a lot of things which can be better with this, how can it not be a damn good option?
And why is it that bad to not be able to pause the game in training?

hmm the save state really good if you want to keep practicing something from a certain distance. like practicing the right spacing for uoh into super with ken from his short jab short. just hit a button and boom you are right where you need to be.

Yeah there is something weird about it I’ll agree. I’m glad the speed of the game seems pretty much correct. However there’s something else that feels not quite right I can’t put my finger on it exactly but something about how it controls/plays is off.

The hud and shit should be changed back. Sounds are just weird, no doubt, the levels are fucked up. There’s a lot that isn’t so good which is very disappointing because I was very excited for a proper speed version I can play from home.

Hopefully they can remedy a few things. Don’t give up yet ryan.

God you’re a fucking prick. I hope you realize that.

You can’t just sweep statements that were made a long time ago under the rug. In the trailer they never said “mostly arcade perfect” no, it said “arcade perfect”. Later on in an interview we got the actual statement which was “most arcade perfect to date”. Now that’s even a lie really, I don’t recall the colors being fucked up, the sounds being fucked up, the hud being fucked up, as part of the cps3 game.

You can’t act like everything is just a-ok and what a good release. It isn’t. It needs some fixes and what was supposed to be a ‘love - letter’ (ugh seth killian, ugh) turned into basically a flaming bag of dogshit.

The game does have issues. Online matchmaking should be faster and I don’t just mean ranked match but player match as well. The hud should be changed to the original one, the new one looks worse and impairs gameplay (DED etc.). Sound bugs need to be fixed and the sound effects toned down so we can hear the music. Other than that I think the game is great and will bring in a lot of new blood which is what this game needed. With some luck maybe we can see it at more tournaments now. Also I think 3sOE is most definitely the best port as far as offline play goes.

ps2 version isnt better the OG xbox version wasnt even that good either

No, it doesn’t reset to anything I recorded before, it resets whole damn thing. Or did you mean the recording mode option? That shit is useless as well because it can only record yourself insead of the dummy. Great going, Capcom. And the start button not just pausing the game is annoying because A) I constantly forget that it does reset the game when my intention was just to pause, and B) I forget that the practice options do not get saved, meaning I have to change them back to what I want everytime I boot up the game, which I also forget to do after many, many hours of SF4, which does remember the practice settings. Of course, these are more personal problems relating to me being a dumbass, but still. And as I said before, pressing start erases the save state as well, which makes using it rather inconvinient.

They’re the same as the previous home release 3s’. They’re all wrong when compared to the arcade; the hit sounds, sound levels, even some effects being wrong, for example in the arcade version, all barefoot characters make a different landing sound after a jump compared to characters with shoes. In 3SO and the previous home releases, they do not. I said in another thread that some sounds are pitched down, like Dudley’s HK and Yang’s upkick, and other moves that use the same voice, and I think this is exclusive to 3SO because I don’t recall it happening in the other home versions. It’s nitpicking, yes, but as a purist, I notice and care about these things.

It’s not nitpicky it’s just fucking weird. The levels are totally wacky. I believe the sounds being different pitch wise has to do with a higher bitrate and the lows/highs being more evident based on the original original sound files (before what I assume would be compression for the cps3 board). That is what it sounds like, because I can hear the other tones in some of the weird sounding moves (like with necro).

It would be really swell of capcom/iron galaxy to just give us the option for OG HUD, OG low quality arcade sound/music. None of that is incredibly difficult I don’t think but likewise I don’t think it’s a matter of a day’s work either.

Aside from that something about the inputs feels sort of sticky, it doesn’t have the crispness of the cps3 version. Does anyone else understand or agree with that?

I def agree that the option to disable all the new crap, such as the hud, artwork, challenges, etc. would be very much welcome. And while they’re at it, put in the OG music as well.
