I hope this gets patched.
Potentially, it’s better than ps2. Game speed is closer to arcade version, moves work properly (like Akuma’s f+MP).
BUT!
New hud is horrible. It’s not even a “style” problem - it’s just that the bars feel off. On the original Hud I always know by the pixel if a move/super will chip me to death, in example (to know if and when I should bother to red parry or not), and I can’t judge properly on that. Super meters are even worse, they look totally disproportionate. Even if it takes the same exact amount of actions to fill them, it’s harder to judge hom much charge is missing etc, which matters a lot for stuff like DED technique.
Please give us an option for activating the old HUD - it matters for gameplay, it really does!!
Or at the very least fix the current one so that the bars have the same to-screen ration as the originals, at least when plating in 4:3.
I felt a bit of lag on my setup (same as ryan and boss :P), i definitely feel it on red parries which I always had a very high success rate like Ken SA3 2nd hit (both on ps2 and arcade), yet I have lots of trouble executing in OE using the exact same a/v cues which saved my ass countless times from being Shippu-chipped to death. Still less laggy than DC version but that’s not saying much
Still have to test with a native 360 stick, let’s hope that the lag problem is fixed that way at least.
And while I actually like remastered sfx overall yet some need some equalizer stuff applied. And Twelve X-Copy not speaking in garbled voice sucks ass.
Technically it did… the current online version has some issues including combo’s that work on arcade but will never work on the next gen version. Beyond that mvc2 received a free patch to help shore up lagneto and unblo-cable problems. Third strike could still receive a bit of patching though if it does I’m sure it wont be anything major.
Honestly it runs really great when both people have a solid connection. About as well as 3s did on GGPO which the community used to rave about. Of course they had to pay this time instead of just using a free emulator and pirated/downloaded ROM… so yea… let the bitching continue.
yes i know im an asshole. who cares. if you want to call me names then youre wasting your time.
derek neal and capcom could have done a better job on making this the best port for 3rd strike. did they? no.
“lets get a pro player to help test and develop the game!” floe was brought in. lol are you kidding me?
“lets invite a few jpn players to playtest the game! and americas best” (some of american players invited were barely above scrub level) lol are you kidding me again?!?!1?! first off all i heard from everyone there that the setup was extremely laggy. yeah ok, lets fly in players from halfway across the world to play in a laggy tournament, that would be a great test for the game!
someone really fucked up on this game. straight up.
derek neal is the producer. it is his job to deliver the best product to us. this game is a waste of time. and like the thread suggest, i would rather play ps2.
if you dont agree with me, then all i have to say is im jealous. i was looking forward to this game more than anyone else in this entire world. if you dont think so, then you dont know how much i love 3rd strike. I wish i could love this game, but i feel like this is the worst port of 3rd strike ever made.
ive talked with a lot of people who share the same opinions as i do. the fact they dont post publicly is their own business. i dont care. posting on forums is a waste of time tbh. i just happen to have a lot of time to waste right now,and i really dont care if i come off as an asshole.
if derek neal and or capcom really wanted to discuss what went wrong in a professional manner, i would be happy to do that with them. i feel as though i know this game better than 99% of america.
im pretty mad that i waited 13 months for this game to come out, with a lot of empty promises, only to be basically shit on by capcom.
Given these two things I’m not sure what’s to bitch about if one had realistic expectations. If you think ps2 is better than lmao… it’s only b/c you spent to much time playing on that ass version until you got used to it’s fucked up timing. Seriously 3sOE is a more playable version by several times over if you are used to the arcade.
Hell naw, the speed changes between PS2 and OE are enough to consider OE(OE feels slower to me, which folks said it should be) the better game… playing PS2 version fucked my timings up to hell… I’m still getting readjusted…
HUD shit sucks, but it doesn’t interfere with me enough…
It’s basically the same game, but one is closer to arcade than the other… GGPO is pretty cool… turning off input delay makes it infinitely better…
Wow, this game is causing the community to split faster than anything else I’ve ever seen. 3 days, and we’re looking at a mess of OGs vs. newcomers.
This shit is… popcorn
and on topic:
I agree with this post.
Even on a CRT, something feels off, but I’m not pro enough to pinpoint that shit.
Apparently you aren’t reading this thread either then. I guarantee you nobody wanted 3sOE to be good more than ryan as far as fans go, and he’s disappointed. You can say its an overreaction but people have their reasons for disliking this game braaahhhhh
ive played this game extensively since 2003, and ive played every version of the game, that has been released.
the port is good and the hit confirm timing is different than ps2 and closer to arcade, for example you can hit confirm ken c.mk in this game with much more consistency than on ps2.
overall the port is good (i’ve been playing on xbox 360, crt, no converter) have had no experience of offline lag what so ever, and juggles (dudley jab mgb for example) have the same timing as arcade. it doesn’t feel EXACTLY the same maybe, but honestly it’s close enough this time.
as far as the netcode is concerned, its actually pretty damn good, but you (get this) need a decent internet connection and to play against people who are within 500 miles or so to you to have a “lagless” sort of experience.
the matchmaking could definitely use some work, but apparently they are working on fixing that, but it would be nice to have more search parameters on matches, and to see ping NUMBERS instead of colors (cmon people, why do you still do this? let us see the ping) and some way to for sure see ping/connection status before accepting a ranked match.
all these players who are bitching on the forums i’ve never even heard of, and have probably never played the game on an arcade cabinet to begin with…
Wow… just wow. If one thread could sum up what’s wrong with the FG community, this would be the template to do it with.
If you want to play the PS2 version so badly, GO DO SO. Whining here and using all manner of hyperbole won’t help. Try posting some constructive criticism, or spend less time whining and to play the game on PS2.
I think you’re being a little harsh, and posts like this one are only going to fan the flames that you seem to want to extinguish. Going off Pherai’s post, passion can lead to overreaction, but game developers and those close to the FGC, including Derek Neal, probably wouldn’t have it any other way. If you really want what is best for the community, my advice would be to let disappointed players get their venting and ya-yas out, let Capcom smooth over some of the bubbles, and see where this all stands in about a month, because it might look a whole lot different than it does this morning. Trying to chastise people, even if it is well-meaning, is only going to get people more vocal and aggravated, plus it is disrespectful to them; if they didn’t have a love of the game, they wouldn’t be upset in the first place.
I’ve personally played the arcade version of 3s only on emulated setups like MAME and FBA ever since the CPS3 board was cracked and emulated, so I don’t know how much that experience counts versus the real deal, but I can definetly say that 3SO feels off in comparison to that. 3SO was supposed to be running straight from the original arcade roms, but instead we get the DC/PS2 version ported onto current gen consoles with a few tweaks, which makes me feel pissed and ripped off as I too had high anticipation for 3SO especially for what was said above.
Here’s a little marketing tip to Capcom: Don’t tout your games as arcade perfect when they really aren’t. There’s nothing arcade about 3SO other than it’s based on an arcade original game, and I do stress the word “based”
I very much doubt Capcom will patch any of the core gameplay mechanics, they’ll prolly just fix the online a little and then call it a day. It would basically require a complete overhaul of the game. The rest of the time they have planned on investing on this game goes to releasing DLC and taking your money.
