Playing import games on ps2

i heard about modding or using a fliptop/boot disk, but i don’t know which method to do.
Any pros/cons or suggestions of which method to use?

if u want easiest solution just get swap magic 3.6 and tool. let u play imports

but if my opinion mod-chip it.

Cool, is your swap magic pretty reliable? And are u using a flip top or that card slider thingy?

how is the cristal chip? any one has it?

My friends and I are thinking about getting some imports.
But I’d also like to know if you can play burned games with swap magic?

Crystal Chip 2.0 pro is probably the best chip out there. It has so many cool features.

In my opinion, ranking the chips:

  1. Crystal Chip 2.0
  2. Matrix Infinity
  3. DMS

Back to the topic:
If at all possible just get a chip. I’ve had Memory Card Exploits, Swap Magic, and Chips. And by far the chips are the best, the features they come with and the ability to insert a game a play.

Swap magic works great, but I hate swapping. I’d rather insert the disc and play.
If you have the soldering skills or know someone who does get a chip.

I use to use the crystal chip 2.0 in my fat one but now I DMSE4 S.E chip in my slim
and the DMSE4 S.E chip blows Crystal out of the water,

Yes you can play burned games with swap magic.

Links PLZ

ya but swap magic will damage your laser over time (went twice on me).

I’ve had it for a while.
And played like 30 games. no problems here.
Is yours slim or fat

slim version it burns laser after while (on both fat & slim ps2). All in gd time

DMSE4 S.E is the best chip!

really? it burns the laser? Does that mean you had to replace the whole ps2? Problem i have is that i don’t know how i am gonna install the modchip, and i don’t want to pay someone.

yea i had no problem with dms4 lite se. i would also recommend chip over boot disc.
instead of paying somebody…you could solder it yourself. iron is like 8 bucks, resin core solder is only like 5, wires is also cheap, and you prolly need a desoldering wick. go to radio shacks website. its prolly cheaper to do it yourself unless a friend is gonna do it for you or you know someone in your area. if you do it yourself, dont blindly go in and think you can solder the modchip. soldering points are way way smaller than if you were to solder a controller for a stick. practice, follow the right procedures for soldering (ex… dont hold the iron on the board too long or you will damage it, tin the pads plus wire, be organized with wiring, etc…) look at examples of already modded ones… blah lbah blah
hope this helps make your decision

i think you should get swap disk’s best case for your situation and no you dont have to replace your whole ps2 just the laser part.

but if you know som one or if u feel you can do it DMSE is the best!

It’s probably just your PS2.

I know people who have been using Swap Magic for years and their PS2’s work without any problems.

aye, thanks alot guys, good info. Still thinking on what to use, but info really helps me out. Btw, anyone have a ps2 imported from the phillipines? But i heard they can play fake games. Thinking of having relatives bring one over.

  • buy a Pioneer DVR-107D burner
  • get Sony’s DVD Generator
  • Burn on Taiyo Yuden discs
  • Play, no modchip or swap magic nonsense.

There’s still no way to play games using the Independence exploit with out HDloader?

More detailed info on this?
