I like both HDR and ST but posting something for people interested in playing ST in the HDR forum is at minimum a category error.
It’s funny because Marsagatti had this ‘super nice guy’ image for a while, and quite a few people have posted saying they are disappointed in things he’s said/done recently - like this.
Here’s one of the other things that’s pretty lame that it’s ST only, seems to alienate a lot of pad players (unless you can play on a DC pad, LOL)
about the stick thing…all i gotta say is dont worry about it. do your best, and with mars being present youll have the opportunity to learn from one of the best players around. i am actually better at playing on pad as i can SRK within milliseconds whereas on stick, i cant react as fast. stick is more fun to me though so thats what i play on.
Wait, so you’re much better using a pad but choose to use a stick? Is there a reason for this?
i can reverse alot better on stick but i miss alot of srks that i wouldnt with pad. i also get hit less with pad cause when i decide to block at the last split second, it happens faster on pad. what i really need is a D pad on the left, and the button layout of a stick to the right.
besides that, something about playing on an arcade stick is more fun to me.
When I post the NCR ST tourney one month ago in ST forum, fatboy wasn’t aware of that because he didn’t know that forum is active. But he still frequent this forum. DGV later pm him about that but it was too late, he already booked his ticket. Had I cross post here, it might have caught his attention earlier.
There are people that play both games (unlike Super Smash Bros. Brawl and SF2) but do not frequent one forum or the other.
OTOH, I don’t see why this gathering cannot host both ST and HDR. Just bring a xbox or ps3 + LCD along.
ST isn’t a console game… At EVO B4, everyone plays on cab with stick… But I digress, almost all majors that use arcade ST will have psx converter, so you can use psx pad.
Not true. I and 4 more friends played played CE on emulator 6 months ago on a stick of mine with IL Euro joystick and Happ competition push-buttons. Top quality parts. None of them could get the moves to come out, simply because the stick was not firmly attached to the table. They could get a few if I helped them holding it, but it was still far from what they would normally obtain.
Yeah sticks are fun but if you can win more w/ a pad, i say practice on that but its really up to you.
I notice that you have a couple arcade cabinets, are you planning to do gatherings with that? You used to play HDR all the time, have you given up on it?
Im just about done w/ my vewlix clone cab, maybe even have some HDR gatherings w/ some SFIV haha, i hate that game but its only way i can probably bribe people to come play.
i was playing hdr for a while on XBL last month but then my membership ran out again. as far as playing online goes, i prefer HDR on xbox as i think it plays more solidly than ggpo(sacrelige, i know…). ggpo is faster than arcade ST, and HDR is more inline with the correct speed. also, when ggpo’s connection is shitty, its REALLY shitty, and annoying as hell with that buzzsaw sounding crap.
i would like to use my cabs for gatherings but i dont have a good place to do it. i dont keep my cabs where i live and that screws it up for me. they are at my parents house, and i am living in condo while in the process of having a house built. once its built…things will be different.

The first impression I got from your blog (yeah I exchanged messages with you using your blog’s comment system a long time ago) was a lot different than what I perceive now, you seemed to be a lot saltier than what I thought you are.

I think it’s a forum rule that all threads either about Mars or started by Mars have to go off topic by at least the 6th post. It’s in the SRK by-laws.

Look, I could understand you and rcaido’s point if someone who was constantly over supportive of ST (like VirtuaFighterFour) came in here and did the same thing Mars did, but he wasn’t trying to start any trouble(quiet the opposite), and yet he gets yelled at? Wow.
Try and keep track of the ST forums traffic. That forum is dead. Mars knew it would’ve been futile posting in there, so he did the next best thing. This isn’t about keeping HDR alive. This isn’t about keeping ST or HDR, just SF2 as a whole. I’m doing my part by running both games at Frosty Fraustings (and I will be running both games at any tournament I can in the future). Mars has been doing his part by going to tournament after tournament and participating in either game, whilst trying to keep in touch with other players to get any kind of small gatherings going. Am I missing something?
Yeah I’ve sort of come around on this too and at NTC in February we’re running Classic / HDR / and HDR teams let’s throw out the widest net and catch as many SF2 fish as we can and not throw certain fish out because they like one flavor over another when all the flavors taste at least “edible.”
