Was in a DB yesterday and picked Garuda to fill out the type coverage, but I’m garbage with all but like, 2-3 characters in the game. So I whipped out the pastebin and managed to hold down enough Garuda combos to make me a threat in the match. Thanks Fear! xD
Glad it helped. Honestly, that is the goal. The go-to for all multi-player essentials. I think I’d be happy with that. Still have a long way to go though… It’s raining out here so maybe I should stop dicking around and finish the rin sisters + zero write-ups.
What you said about Killjoy for Douglas can be applied to Oinkie.
Well except if You do charged KWH + Killjoy with Oinkie outside of animation lock range it will one hit anyone it touches(level 1), and it has a huge hitbox, you’ll be getting multi-kill like it ain’t nothing if you’re sneaky enough with it. His j.KWH + Killjoy is pretty much the same but it’s not as easy to hit because you have to be close into to jump your targets.
Good guide, glad you’re taking community input.
Think about adding that to that Anarchy Reigns wiki that’s bare-bones and in need of attention?
I haven’t finished the ability sections either, just initial givens for everyone for the most part. I found something new with auto guarder not a lot of people realize.
It prevents people from punishing your 360 attacks. All hits automatically go into your guard, so if your opponent doesn’t 1 shot your shield, the rest of your 360 gets auto-canceled and you are free to go. Fucking insane. Seriously.
People that play characters with terrible 360’s, just try it. It’s situational–and in the grand scheme of things all it really does is give you defense during your 360 attack.-- To me, as an Oinkie main and I see his 360 as one of the arguably worst in the game. Auto Guarder is now very alluring. I never personally felt like I had a “right” skill for oinkie. Lean Extender is good, but not as amazing as it is on Jack and Zero. Power Leveler is also good, but nothing amazing. Poison Element is useful if you can actually play him at a good level. Destroyer let’s his twitch cancel 100%'s take less reps to do its job and I’ll definitely be adding Killjoy. His standard KWH backhand also one shots light characters which is useful if you snag someone in a tire at the start of a match.
Item Abilities and Defense Abilities are all “general purpose”–anyone gets use out of them.
I looked at the Wiki a while back before my guide really started shaping up, before I added any sort of play-style analysis. It just is what it is. I’m not sure yet, the wiki is so barebones pathetic. It would be kinda cool seeing the pieces of guide up there in different articles. Maybe after it’s actually finished. I keep saying that. I want to finish it so I can just start playing AR for AR again without analyzing everything.
Auto Guader also prevents you from being punished during the cooldown after your 3rd dodge, during taunts, while carrying objects. I was actually thinking of giving this ability a whirl with Zero 2 days ago.
I remember there used to be an Ai Rin player (forgot his name) whose favorite ability was Auto Guarder. It was a real pain fighting him because he 360 often and I couldn’t do much about it because AG protected him from being punished. I couldn’t one shot his guard because Ai Rin recovered too fast and Sasha’s ground KWH was too weak anyways.
Edit: Oinkie’s definitely up there with Bayonetta in terms of sucky 360s.
I find it odd that so many Oinkie players play him in a more combo-centric sort of way, unlike me where it’s mainly kill stealing and big damage team support.
But then again, that’s how I use everyone.
I feel Oinkie is the best at it, or at least tied with Durga.
Max seems underplayed nowadays, he used to be common, now no one really uses him, which is weird because he’s always seemed like a solid, even above average character.
These things are very common, so yes. It’s just another by-product of the game we enjoy needing more time in the oven.
The phasing in and out of combos could possibly be due to latency, though I’m not 100% sure if that’s why it happens. We can agree that it’s annoying, but we just gotta deal with it unfortunately.
Like you said, different play-styles for different people.
I feel like if I were to one shot someone with killjoy, they’d be so incredibly aware with me around that I’d never be able to use it properly again. Finding time to taunt is more difficult than I’d like to admit.
I’m more happy using stuff that is buffing me the entire match or helping me do my job without a consequence. You could argue killjoy does that in ten-fold. It does, to the degree you can get away with it. If I were to constantly be ditching my team and running away to buff myself, I’d be hurting them in the long run. Maybe they’d get overpowered? Would me rushing back in and near-one shotting someone re-even the playing field? Who knows. Over-thinking things.
Short Version: I think killjoy is too much work. If you make it work more power to you. Literally.
@ Recluse
That lock-on bug is pretty common and I actually complained about it ages ago, you sort of get used to it. It mostly happens with ghost attacks. As an example, to explain.
Enemy Zero uses raw ground HKW and misses, you sidestep and start a launcher, it connects, camera breaks, out of the side of the screen you see a 2nd shockwave shoot out of zero’s swords. I personally feel like this is what causes the lock on issue, basically lag and latency issue WHILE your opponent is blatantly open. It causes that 2nd “ghost” attack to happen which BTW, can still fugging damage you which is infuriating. It seems to happen with all sorts of HKW’s in general.
It’s best to try and keep your combo going like nothing happened and lock-on as again as quickly as you can.
Yeah, I learned how to play this game a bit more cunningly.
The trick to finding a safe place to taunt is look at the mini-map and see if there are any people around you, close enough to see, but not close enough for them to be worried about you. Sometimes you can get away with doing it just outside of the action, depending on how fast your character’s taunt is.
In BR people aren’t that adaptive, and even then you cant dodge things when you’re being juggled, or are stunned.
Been pretty dead online this week, the few times I tried to play it at least.
Got back into the game recently. And I want to say thanks to TunnelingEffect for the guide; now my Durga is a little more dangerous thanks to that more advanced combo and using the Destroyer ability. I would use Guard Master and Hard Charger for him, but I usually feel like I’m good enough at dodging that I don’t need GM, and I’m pretty good at managing my meter.
Anyway, I’m on right now just sitting here waiting for 2 more people to join the team deathmatch. I’ll be playing for the next couple of hours or so (or waiting to ply as is the case).
On the subject of character rarity, Max has definitely dwindled in popularity. As has Douglas. I’m probably one of the few good Douglas’ on PSN that isn’t Japanese. Douglas was hella popular during the first few weeks when no one knew how to tech grabs or tech-ROLL.
There really aren’t any good Durga or Baron’s either Pterodactyl. It’s surprising. Baron is a lot of fun to play when you aren’t playing him like a bag of dicks.
Now that I think about it. All of the males except Leo and Zero are kinda unpopular. I guess people just want that T+A eh?
Been messing about with Nikolai a bit, he’s pretty fun. Found a combo (that has been dubbed the “Soviet Swag Loop”) that does 80-90% depending on if you get the cinematic for the aKWH. His DA is great and even his charge heavies are quite useful. My only gripe is that he can guard cancel his *W, which is great for creating distance, but makes twitching kinda wierd after it. Also his H possibly has even worse range than Oinkie, shit is terrible.
Yeah, it’s a shame, if he had Jack’s AA and H he would have been really good. Still enjoy playing him, landing that loop is so satisfying and his pressure is pretty good, just need to get used to it.
I think it has to do with most people being too “Fair” to use KW glitch, when you can play Bayo fairly well without it. I’ve seen Razor do it plenty of times. It’s not hard. I really wish this “taboo” or whatever concerning Bayo would just go away…
Good Barons? never, which is odd because he’s a simple character and he’s one of the more unique characters in the game in terms of moveset and properties.
Good Durgas? I actually see good durgas pretty often, you have to be good with him to use him and not get destroyed, he’s amazing but he isn’t braindead. I rarely see great Durgas though.
As for Bayo, for the longest time it seemed like you couldn’t even join a match with less than two Bayo’s in it.
The Rin and Zero populations are on the rise though.
