Planet Zero SBO qualifiers are Rigged

Fighting games is serious business.

The success or lack of success of his business has absolutely nothing to do with the issue at hand. It is in no way a valid rebuttal to my post that you quoted. If his business is as healthy as you suggest, he’ll do fine regardless of whether he rigs the US SBO team.

Sad state of affairs when John has turned everyone into Texas into a bunch of whores like you. :sad: Hopefully in a few years when you grow a spine then you will realize that doing the right thing definitely outweighs being the first to play a video game.

Lol.

this does not surprise me one bit, after all the shady shit this guy has done in the past

even if we are to go by emotiongear’s rules, how is character even being judged fairly here? no interviews have been held, so the only things we know about zinac are:

  1. he was on the winning team
  2. he apparently was the least valuable player
  3. he acts upset when told that he wasn’t making the team, “100%”

none of this spells out “liability to our company’s reputation in japan” to me.

Then what’s the point of qualifiers?? If it’s really about the best team going, just pick THE best players in the US. That’s a lot more logical than wasting time and money holding a tournament. Besides, like someone else stated, if a PZ rep needs to go, have him go along with the team instead of replacing someone.

Are you even part of the GG scene? If there was a point in sending the best possible players to SBO, then what was the point of the tournament? Why not just invite people to the team? Oh wait, I forgot that Emogear doesn’t know shit about fighting games or the GG community. Why was he so pissed when a Houston/Texas team lost? Because his supporters weren’t going to get to go. He didn’t get to send his friends to Japan so he got pissed. Why do you think the “interview” rule was put into place? It’s just a disclaimer to give him an excuse to send a friend to Japan. Sorry, this doesn’t save his ass nor does it make it right, and you know it doesn’t make it right.

I can guarentee there are better players in the US than the clown from PZ he’s going to send. Sending the best players? Get that shit out of here. The PZ rep he’s going to send, no matter who it is, isn’t even a top 5 US player.

Who exactly gets to “judge” the players that might possibly go? This is definately going to end in a bias opinion. Marn or insert PZ GG player here get your bags ready, but seriously I hope whoever does get picked have the balls to actually give his spot up to the person that actually deserves to go.

Really should never be this commotion. I am hoping there is some type of SBO Guilty Gear tournament next year that MWC can be the qualifying spot for because it seems to be a centralized location, and we always make sure we will send the best team with Double Elimination formats, and no gripes about who is qualified to go.

It should be black and white. Team that wins goes to SBO. Simple as that.

Of course it spells out liability! They didn’t follow SBO rules in this fraud of a qualifier in that the best team isn’t going and Emotiongear has no excuse, especially in a SBO game that the US isn’t even supposed to have qualifiers on! It was his responsibility to make sure that this qualifier was run fairly, but yet he kicked out one member of the winning team because he got pissed that “his team” didn’t win and we are being railroaded until it is too late to do anything about it to SBO officials. How would you feel if you were booted off your team because of some guy who gave a damn about local representation in SBO? I thought so.

There really is alot of things PZ could have done to make these qualifiers work. But they went with a basterdized version of duck duck goose.

Really now, how does messing with the teams even give the US a better chance. All the players on the second and third placed team LOST. They lost to the team from Kentucky. I say that’s a big achievement to go to a foreign arcade and win on somebody else’s cabinets. If they can’t perform on their home machines then they are fucked anyways. Send the whole Kentucky team they’ve showed that they have a better chance of winning on different cabinets.

it has been mentioned on this thread that emotiongear told certain people (i heard the info first from zinac) that the reason for all this mess was cause of problems i created in japan, me overstaying my visa etc (dont know if this is true that emogear is claming this, tho apparently i heard this from ziinac)

guy claimed i overstayed my visa or something apparently? which is one of the reasons why he changed the rules? thats funny cause i was there from early august, which was like, the week of sbo until when arcana 1 was ported to ps2 (about 2 1/2 months later in october…) thats two and a half months…and those that have ben to japan know how long a tourist visa is for

dunno how he could even claim to “find that out from his sponsor” when 1) the info is obviously wrong 2) i didnt take any of emotiongears accomodations in japan really - i was staying at a separate house away from them and only met up with them during my sbo day since i can get around tokyo on my own.

BTW, how can some of you blame the players for not reading the posts regarding Emotiongears tourney etc etc? I even if you want to technically say that (and while it is true, to a extent that anyone that deals with emogear after this fiasco deserves what they get) what hes doing isnt really right…i think we all know that.

Zinac, I hope you get to go to Japan when tihs is all said and done

:bgrin::bgrin::bgrin:

Hey read about this over at dustloop.

Just chiming in to say that this is complete bullshit :confused:

emogear = the new TFGM

=D

If you want to argue that sending pre-established teams can possibly send a weaker team to Japan that’s one thing. Taking a player off the winning team and replacing him with someone who is in your opinion better, is not the best way to figure that out.

You’d need to do it like the east coast 3S SBO qualifier. Through three tournaments to field three spots. Of course that method has it’s pitfalls as well, (if someone wins as a popular character, the next tournament can’t have that character, so you can’t be sure how well the next player is against that character/playstyle) but you have a lot less people arguing then when the tournament seems arbitrary. If there was an exception to be made and a PZ rep had to go, then why not make it a two on two tournament and not screw a player out of a spot? Sure there was that nice out clause in the way they ran the tournament but why pick a method that upsets the players, putting Zinac back on the team would make the issue go away, at least in this case. I don’t see why you can’t send the kid. I doubt this one tweak will make the team go win SBO, it’s an experience that people are playing for.

hey now =/

why did they run a tourney if winnin doesnt mean you won?
