Pink Gorilla: sessions every Saturday starting at 3PM, MvC2/ST/A3

If you want to play ST, there are ranbats on Saturday, starting at 6 pm. People come starting at 3 PM for casuals but it jsut depends what you want to do.

Oh ok, I see now. Thanks so much!

I have to admit that I did leave some of my game collection at home, so I’m way out of practice on ST. The closest I could get to an arcade version of ST was on my PS2 with one of the Capcom Collections and the 15th Anniversary of Street Fighter Collection with “Hyper Street Fighter II” on it.

In my opinion, they’re pretty close even though I’ve heard that those PS2 versions weren’t quite up to snuff. But, my custom joystick with Sanwa parts makes it feel real to me! It’s damn near like playing on a candy cab even though I’ve rarely been on a good enough TV for it.

I’ll definitely come by this weekend and try my hardest to shake off the rust from 3-6PM, then I might scrub it up in the matches too.

Wow just discovered this thread via ganelon.

I envy you guys having a local arcade with ST + pristine Japanese sticks/buttons and regular gathering.

Bobby and Axel, ST is very brutal for new comers. I have people interested in entering ST @ NCR but once they learned that the entry fee is $10 they backed out since these kids know they have no chance to get that money back, but they want to join to experience it.

But I can’t lower it to $5 just for these people…

Maybe you guys can consider the mikado way… Make a day for free play for several hours for a fixed fee (say $5, or $10)?

Maybe bobby can do some maths to see how much earning you get from the ST machine on sat and divide that by number of people to come up with a fee that will earn you the same amount of money?

The guys winning the most probably won’t mind paying a tiny bit more to accommodate the people that lose more.

This works well for people trying to learn the match or try different characters out or danisen ranbat, etc.

I have no idea if this can work @ your arcade but I’m just throwing out ideas for you guys to consider.

If I live close by I’ll be there!!

How well in advance are these danisen battles planned? I want to run up in ya’ll spot for some ST.

Every Saturday. About as planned as it gets.

Sweet. Oh yeah, does PG have a Marvel Super Heroes cabinet?

no MSH, but there is a MSH vs SF, if you’re into that sorta thing O_o

MSF is not the business, unfortunately :/. MSH is secretly a great game, for real.

Truth. Shuma is is the greatest character of all time

Did I bump into someone from SRK today? I bumped into somebody and spun 180 degrees today on The Ave.

That is the most low budget shit I have ever heard of. If they don’t want to enter because they will lose at a game they are new to, they shouldn’t be playing fighting games, they have no heart.

Maybe you could give those guys some job counseling tips instead of cutting the entry fee from a staggering ten bucks to five.

Shout outs to Axel for the ranking site, it looks hella legit and serious.

I brought MSH several sessions ago and installed it. Some players who shall not be named that play MvC2 declined to play the greatness that is MSH. I own MSH and CotA boards (two great games) and I bring them every time. I am happy to take on all comers that are not named Deezo.

I would play MSH. Someone print out the infinites for me please.

Competition sticks or Japanese?

Sanwa sticks, in candy cabs.

Well, this sucks. It’s with great sadness that I report that the PG arcade is no more. I just finished loading the vast majority of it into a huge truck, and the rest will be gone within days and is shut down effective immediately.

I don’t want to go into all the reasons until the split is finalized, and possibly not even then, but I will say that you guys have been incredibly awesome and that your scene embraced the arcade in exactly the way I was hoping for when I started this thing up. It’s not ending because of lack of interest/revenue or because “arcades are dead” or any of that. It’s ALL about shitty disputes with the owner and feeling like I’ve been dicked over in a hundred ways over an extended period. Some of it had to do with me being unsatisfied with the hours, which they had always promised me would be extended. I know a lot of you guys hated the hours and the parking situation too, so hopefully you’ll get where I’m coming from. I never intended to run an arcade that closes at 8. I don’t think I’ve ever even been to an arcade before 8!

I’ll definitely be looking to re-emerge somewhere in the near future, so I’ll keep you guys posted. I’m not selling any of the candy cabs right now. If anyone has any leads as far as locations run by cool people who truly love and want to embrace arcade culture, please let me know! I’m picky but I think I might be able to find some like-minded people out there. If not, I’ll probably end up starting my own place eventually.

Sorry again guys, you’re all great.

 Well, it was fun while it lasted. I look forward to whatever the future holds for your arcade.

YOOOOOOOOOOO MAN, if you could talk to mvco on here, he is bill masterman? he owns/maintains the cabinets at acmebowl and narrows. they already have vanilla sf4, blaz blue, and tekken5 dr and he was talking about getting ssfiv arcade edition and we were already saying how SICK itd be to have st, cvs2, mvc2 or anything else to play while we wait to play ae. if you guys could work something out, acme would be THE SPOT

thats a good idea jacob, but man, i saw the way the kids treat the equipment there… i fuckin hate the teeny boppers who just hang out at acme bowl and hit the machines to get quarters out.
