So basically you have a conspiracy theory that the people that think HDR fucking sucks are only REALLY disliking the game because THEIR character is nerfed, instead of for the millions of reasons people have listed why the HDR changes are stupid across the entire cast.

I will be the first to say, that Balance has VERY little to do with what makes a game good or not. It’s probably not even in my top 10 list of “qualities that need to be in a game for it to be good”. I ENJOY watching people man up and win hard matchups, and I ENJOY watching skilled low tier specialists. You cannot have that in a perfectly balanced game where there aren’t weak characters.

It is true that you can’t please anyone, but EVERY player that was consulted by Sirlin I have EVER talked to (I can name 4 off the top of my head, there are probably more) said that they sacraficed SO MUCH time and money to travel and try to help on HDR because of their passion for the game. What did we get? Sirlin buffing Honda and Bison retardedly because he uses them, and then a bunch of changes that show he a) Had no respect whatsoever for the vision of the original Capcom designers, and b) Didn’t really understand why things were the way they were in the first place.

You know how HDR would’ve been freaking great? All of Sirlin’s Sagat Changes, no Akuma at all, and no random dizzy. THATS IT. (you realize SIRLIN almost killed HDR HIMSELF from Evo, by retardedly insisting that Akuma was tournament worthy? Inkblot and Ponder both said that if Akuma was not tournament viable, maybe HDR doesn’t deserve to be at evo. And then when people pointed out unblockable demon setups, Sirlin said Akuma wasn’t “acting as designed”, aka, I don’t know WTF I am doing).

I play boxer who ONLY got nerfs and I have not once ever complained about boxer’s treatment in HDR, btw. The game is fucking stupid for many other reasons. So your “people complaining about top tier being nerfed” conspiracy certainly doesn’t apply to me.

How do you think we did it in 2008? On Dreamcast. I agree that we won’t be playing ST at evo probably ever again, but that is irrellevent to HDR’s fucking suckiness.

I can’t comment on this cus I didn’t read that, but if you can’t win with Gief in ST you’re not a real Gief player, whoever you are. There was a reason Capcom designed the inputs the way they did originally. This is not aimed at snakeeyes, but all people who can only play the game when it is baby moded for them.

You realize Daigo has a fucking financial incentive to hype up shit games like SFIV and HDR because he makes thousands of dollars per year from tournament winnings and now FUCKING SPONSORSHIPS right? If Daigo talked shit about HDR, less people play HDR or SFIV=less tournament winnings for him=less people buying his sponsor’s products=less money for Daigo.

Which is also so impressive when top players with a financial incentive to hype these shit games actually DO admit: They suck, they play them for the money only, or it’s the only competition nowadays. I played SFIV for about a year after I started hating the game because it was the only fighter I could get people to play.

Now, I am your friend but I think this post was just trash and I would really like you to consider what I, and others are saying. I don’t have to love “SF2”, I love ST. True, pure Super Turbo.

I think HDR is alright. Granted, I don’t like the changes (and some of those changes applying to classic mode are HELLA gross), but I got over it. If more people just played ST (HDR included), maybe they’d see some of the gross things about SFIV and make it known that a large portion of SF players would prefer a faster, more exciting game instead of big combos and fancy ultras.

Like i said HDR got enough changes to be a different game, so why not treat it as such. I wasn’t there & i dont know what was suggested & what was omitted. All i know is i like the end results of it, it sucks that guys who put money into didn’t get heard or suggestion not in final game. If HDR got really successful maybe they could have gotten updates like how SFIV is getting all the time.

I dont get the whole balance is not important. All these top players likes to see low tiers able to overcome tough matchups but when tourney time comes around they use the top tier characters. Its pure hypocrisy…

As for Gief, the reason why Gief so much better is not because of the easier inputs, its actually harder to do the FAB now in HDR but anyway its the recovery of his green hand, faster running bear grab, & new improve hop.

As for Daigo, sure he has motivation cuz of money but i dont think HDR would really do much for him. In Japan they will always have ST. I think Yuu Vega also posted on how he likes HDR through XBL messages…If only HDR gets exposure i can see it as a success. Its sad that some OG ST players are “its ST or no SF2.” Its that mentality that will kill the foundation of Street Fighter.

I mean come on Julius, you know & i know how much SRK has changed…Its really no longer a fun place to be at…SFIV has changed it. I only have HDR boards…Imagine no more SF2?

I feel that people should try to remember that the game is what it is…bitch all you want, at the end of the day the game is complete and you either play it as such, or keep wishing what it could or used to be. Find all the excuses in the world you need to justify why you don’t play, much less succeed, at whatever it is you’re closing yourself off to…

…or you can just do what you do.

Be it ST to HDR, or Sf2 to Sf4, remember that supporting what you enjoy is a much more powerful action than preaching about what you don’t. It also accomplishes the feat of playing what you like and putting yourself in similar company…goddamn. Imagine that!

For all intents and purposes DC ST is arcade perfect. And I didn’t hear a single person complain after Evo 2k8 about it being on Dreamcast.

I didn’t say it was. But if you can’t beat people with Gief in ST or a non-HDR SF2, you aren’t a real Gief player no matter what tournament results you achieve in HDR. But that’s just my opinion.

Daigo is slowly making himself into a brand, and probably will one day be able to make a good living from his hoard of sycophants on these boards who listen to everything he says. Beyond just being Japanese, have you EVER heard him say anything offensive at all? It would be stupid for him to alienate his fanbase, which is composed mainly of new players who only know HDR. Try posting good reasons why HDR sucks, and all these new people with newer than 2009 joindates will bomb on you visciously. There is no way he would hurt his own brand, and try to lower entrant #s at evo and various Euro and South American tournaments he goes to that are basically free money for him (or at the very least a paid free vacation).

If there will always be ST, what the fuck is the point of HDR if it is not an actual improvement? The ST scene is THE LONGEST LIVED FIGHTING GAME SCENE IN HISTORY, it didn’t need changing.

HDR shouldn’t exist, you would be posting on ST forums if there was any justice for ST. But agreed that the forums, and fighting game scene have changed for the worst since the new games.

I couldn’t care less about games being more accessible or the scene “blowing up” if the games are going to be watered down trash like all the new games have been. Hopefully TTT2 is good, KOF XIII looks like the best game in the past ten years, and MvC3 will probably suck ass after 3 months of hype.

This would be why I started holding arcade ST gatherings at my house.

And one random thing, you think people are salty because their characters got nerfed, and then cite people who are excited from Japan: Yuuvega, Daigo. Do you know who they play? Ryu and Bison. If you had any idea just how powerful their fake fireball and devil’s reverse buffs were, this would be an interesting point.

That can be said for ST…My game i grew up & enjoyed was Hyper Fighting…Why bother playing ST when you have Hyper Fighting? That was w/ championship edition to Hyper…People dont like changes & there will be people left behind. I did that when Super came out, i thought supers were stupid so i stop playing Street Fighter altogether for years.

As for underdogs winning, its great to see that but low tier characters dont win tournaments.

As for Daigo, what if other top jap players starts to really like the changes in ST to HDR? What if some miracle they were able to hold HDR in Evo japan? For a game that’s so horrible as you say, having 300+ enter EVO isn’t a worthy accomplishment to have every year its been out?

I just cant enjoy SFIV. Despite me winning $500 Gamecrazy tourney, winning majority of my local tournaments, i just wasn’t having fun playing the game. I enjoy competing w/ people & hanging out who share common interest. The only reason why i still go when i have a chance of free time.

Yeah, Alpha 3 was found to be totally dead (with the Jamma connector plugged in backwards no less) after the incident last week, so I had to throw in whatever PCB I could find. Right now I’m not sure if it’s just amazing timing on the battery dying, since I’m getting the blue screen, or if the backwards connection killed it. But at any rate, I’m looking into getting it fixed and Norimaru and company are just temporary.

I’d say there’s a good chance. I’m just wrapped up in tons of other work right now so I haven’t had a chance to take a look at it yet – the GD-Rom needs to be fixed or replaced.

Its cool, when you have passion for something sometimes its hard to control emotions. You love ST, i love HDR…It is what it is…Remember we are all from Washington, we shouldn’t fight among each other. I hope we can keep SF2 scene alive as its something i cherish…Once real life doesnt get in the way & making money isn’t #1 priority for me, im hoping i can contribute more to our scene. Until then keep up the great work guys!

So your character is no longer low tier, I don’t see how this supports your argument.

BTW you and Rick both seem to think it is impossible to win with low tier at high level in ST. I am not sure where you get the idea from because we have seen plenty of Toutanki in top 3-5 at SBO and X-mania, and there is other Blanka, Honda and Fei representation. Any character can win in Super Turbo.
