I’ve only started modding recently and bought six sanwa obsf 30s and a JLF from akihabarashop.jp… buttons there cost around $2.50 and the stick is around $25… And the shipping if i remember correctly is around 750 pesos and took around 15 days till it was delivered to my home.
Another thing about modding is that it takes a lot of time! When I got my sanwa parts around 1pm I finished my modding around 11pm and that’s still not using any dremel tools! But I also soldered a Dual Shock 1 PCB in my ikan stick to replace the PS3 PCB inside and I guess that’s what ate the most time.
If you’ve never used a soldering tool or power tools or you lack the time I guess it would be a better investment if you just bought yourself a TE or HRAP but if you like experimenting/learning and got plenty of time then go research some more into modding and definitely go to www.slagcoin.com since that site has plenty of stuff to teach
Sure I handled some soldering irons and tools (school workshop classes waaaaayyy back when lol)
So is that 2.50 per button or 2.50 for the lot of 8 buttons? And how do you go modding/replacing the pcb? That in slagcoin? I actually want to modify mine so that my PC can use it without having to use the 3rd party sixaxis drivers (Im guessing PS1 pcb should work?)
PCB diagrams for dual shock 1, as well as dual shock 2 controllers are in slagcoin.com in the pcb wiring section. If you just want to use it for PC use I guess those cdr king controllers that cost 100 pesos would suffice.
Also, $2.50 per button and I only bought six buttons since you wouldn’t use the L1 & L2 buttons… Though I forgot to buy buttons plugs… I just used the ikan stock buttons and took out the button switch… haha
Sadly, no lamilabel, but I do have access to a laminator. For the Ikan though, I’m going to need the dimensions as well as do some testing with the prints.
Then ikan isn’t a perfect rectangle. it has curved corners… is it going to be a problem? I’m going to measure tommorow Also, how are you going to do it with a laminator? print it to a sticker paper and laminate only the other side? I’m curious about this 'cause my ikan already has scratches from all the modding haha~
@xheezy04
My original plan for a laminator was to do it like the original art on a TE. That is, just use the thin 2x sided tape and then let the screws do the rest. Not sure if that’ll work on the Ikan though, haven’t tried applying art myself (yung pina-iipunan kong TE, naunahan ako) most people who get art from me usually just have it done with plexi from Art’s Hobbies.
Actually, I’m tempted to suggest that we just use the Ikan sticks parts for a custom stick.
Anyone here interested in SF4 casuals on Thursday? (local non-working holiday due to Banamos Festival) If so, please post interest so I can find a suitable venue.
@monkeyslayer: do you have an R1/R3 SF4 for the PS3?
@4neqs and crackshoot: Let’s meet up tentatively at Vega at around 9:30am. Liorec & I should have the sticks covered. Hopefully the Sanwa buttons we ordered will arrive by then.
So far we’ve got 5 confirmed attendees. Still waiting for a reply from 2 others.
