Yo there, new guy here.

Just got SF4 PC from steam during the 50% off weekend, and it feels great to play SF again (havent played in years).

GFWL gamertag: sabaw3

Been trying to find some arcade sticks to play with, though since im just playing casual for now i dont really want to spend on those 4k php up arcade sticks. Its too bad that I read in this thread that there arent any SF4 cabinets here in the south (I live in the BF area), woulve like to play in the arcade once in a while.

Im (horribly) trying to main Sakura and still trying to readjust myself to the SF style of combos (last 2d fighter i really played were some of the vs series where its really easy to pull of 1 billion hit combos or something). Heck, im having a hard time trying to to a M punch -> hadouken lol.

Any sort of tips you guys can offer? Whats a good progression for arcade sticks if ever I really get into it? Nothing too expensive though. On another note as well, anyone know how to get ms points online? I really want the alt costumes for the females heh.

Thanks!

sabaw if you want we could have some casuals. I live around Better Living in Bicutan.

Shet, meron ala nitong thread para sa mga pinoy.

Pasalamat ka kay Kane na gumawa ng thread.

I used Chun and Honda Last Tues. Found a Blanka user with an orange shirt and black jacket. Abel user had a mustache.

@kane
Sounds good, though itll depend on my work sched. Ill keep it in mind though!
Itd be great if they put in a cabinet at timezone BF, itd be walking distance to get there :rofl:

In other news im just using a cheapo arcade stick. Its probably crappy by the standards you guys are using but since im new I cant tell the difference :rofl:

In terms of arcade only chars, Im trying to see if Im more comfy with abel or chunli (well ryu too but using ryu seems so, I dunno, generic?) but for home chars, sakura <3 I seem to be more “at home” with abel with his “tekken” like moves (the combo grapple) and i really like the meta game with his roll. His ultra is insane as well. With chunli I like her combo kicks, though if blocked usually leaves me open for a beating lol. Her foot attack range is insane as well. I still dont know how to use her effectively though. With abel I dont really even have to concentrate on combos too much, his regular attacks and throws do tons of damage and his stamina is high, though with chunli I guess i need to learn how to combo with her more.

Anyone have tips for getting used to the Myoungshin Fanta sticks that TimeZone has in their SFIV cabs? Iba sobra ang feeling nila sa mga Sanwa/Seimitsu sticks na kinalakihan ko. I usually use a wineglass grip (with the stick either in between my middle and ring or ring and pinky fingers), with the Fantas, parang nahihirapan ako dito.

i see it thought it was last monday ><

@d3v

hmm i suggest place it between your ring and pinky, i saw someone doing that. and just play as much as you can, jan lang kami nasanay sa stick, magkano na nagagastos namin sa timezone =(

main difference i seen with the timezone sticks compared to my hrap (viewlex cabs, etc) is that it doesn’t really have a gate so its sometimes tricky finding the corners. it does take some adjusting. i hold it the same as i do with a balltop…between my middle and ring finger. once you get used to it, there’s not much difference at all.

Other than the lack of a gate (which is fine since I’ve played on Happs sticks before), what bothers me the most is that it feels rubbery and imprecise.

I’m also worried that if I get used to it, I’ll end up with bad habits that wont work when I switch back to a Sanwa stick.

The timezone sticks feel kind of squishy and unstable, and they’re kind of hard to get used to IMO. It poses a lot of trouble for charge characters than for non-charge characters though… I’m having a hard time doing Rog’s juggle into ultra on them consistently.

No offense to people here, but I just find the current generation of players to whine so much about the stick. What happened to the people who play with the old ass stick, the ones that break your fingers and wound your hands?

I got bruised palms because of the old sticks lol

Those ikan/naki sticks that are sold in datablitz is the chapest and easiest to mod in my opinion. stock parts in the stick handle nicely too :slight_smile: I think the ikan stick is a good investment… that’s what im using anyway :slight_smile:

Happ/iL sticks ba? haha~ yeah, i remember old arcades having those… Even the now defunct arcade in university mall had US parts… Well its all about preference talaga that’s why I prefer playing in consoles… BYOC and shaddap haha~

Details here

This sunday? heck yeah! i’ll be there… 90% sure i’ll come haha~

@xheezy
I actually got myself one and its pretty good so far, then again my standard of “good” is questionable when it comes to sticks as Ive never really used arcade sticks (so now im learning and i keep on putting in wrong inputs, like jumping back instead of guarding or wrong command inputs [im particularly having a hard time doing EX-hurricane -> dash forward -> super of sakura, especially from 2p side] lol). Im using it on my pc via the sixaxis drivers as it wont play out of the box.

One of my problems i think as well is my timing and tendency to multi tap button presses, usually ending in me getting countered, though thats more of a player thing than a controller thing. For example, I actually find it hard to do c.lk > c.lp > c.mp for sakura.

That being said, how much does it cost to mod anyways. Is it better to just mod than to, say, buy a more expensive grade fight stick? (like the hori fighting stick ex2, or arcade ex etc.). Ive heard alot about those Sanwa parts etc though Ive never really gone into research about any of them.
